Bought this engine told it was new
Pommy replied to Gambit's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I guess it could look like this if stored terribly, especially if damaged in the floods, or stored in a pond. -
What I thought, good quality and back up if something happens *knock wood* and it is coming as present from the missus with a new SD card and mount.

Link is the one Pete has put; this is the youtube video of the quality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yau1ypbgDw8

Also installed a turbo timer. I have ordered one of the dash cams as well. £11 from amazon, have watched footage from the same model on youtube and looks to be very very good.
-
Wired the radio so the aux input is now in the armrest and better hidden which is nice. Also installed a turbo timer.

So another person has joined up just to put something up for sale (although hopefully they join in in other areas). I agree with above, monitor and if the amount of people selling and not joining increases then we have a re think. Although I think the numbers will go up as the forum becomes more popular...

Prodrive kit on a 2.5XT Forester.
Pommy replied to Silver Forester 2.5 XT's topic in General Subaru Chat
Not sure about the prodrive pack or different engines on a Forester but I wouldn't be put off by the mileage assuming that it has a good history with regular oil changes. Many members have cars with higher mileage and no problems. Someone with experience in Foresters will be around soon -
Good to hear

Oh yeah, I may have forgotten it was Cat D, probably looking around £2k for that then, sorry.

Taken the aux input wire for the radio under the center console and into the arm rest in the center,

I would call the bloke and voice your concerns, see what he says and take it from there really. Write down what he says about it all. And then if he doesn't offer some sort of refund or deal that you are happy with him start to imply you are looking to take him to court over fraud. That should scare him enough to refund something. -
Thanks Gambit much appreciated. And gift aid is a way of the charity getting tax relief, and sometimes the person donating. Here is more info http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/gift-aid.htm And Gaulson other people have had that problem but thanks for trying. Would be great if you could try again and let me know if it works.

I would agree, 200 very dirty miles. Although very hard to prove that it hasn't... -

I see the point of a minimum post theory and stranger danger. And I agree if someone's first post is in the for sale section it is a bit cheeky, but I also would want to be able to see what people have to offer. I feel I can take care of myself and decide whether to send someone my money especially with the ebay protection nowadays it is relatively safe. And if there is a minimum post as low as 30; people will jut go through build threads and photo's and comment saying nice car, and higher post counts will send more people to other forums where they can sell easier. I have yet to see any real issues in the for sale forum and no reason to change it, there have been a few instances where people have made that there only post but the first comment and usually the only comments are saying nice part and get involved more. Never seen interest as people are more sensible than that. However this is just my opinion and I understand both sides of the story just trying to put both sides of the issue out there.

I'm always surprised by how cheap home camera's can be, and you can get ones which transmit 3g so you can watch on your phone, not necessary but quite cool. I will be installing a system once I have a house and am not a student.

I have heard you get a 5%-10% drop in power but never thought of it as a problem, even in a performance car. When you need the extra performance, on a track or a nice twisty road, just switch it to petrol; and on the way there and back run it off the LPG and save some dosh. Best of both worlds right there.

I'm the same, I wouldn't buy something off someone with just the one post without some more proof of sorts, detailed photo's and all that. However I'm not one for banning or locking part of the forum, one of the pro's of this forum is its openness, if you see someone selling something it is up to the buyer to make sure the part is there, through pictures or a phone call to the person or something like that, we live in a society where the buyer assumes the risk. I think everyone on here is smart enough to check what they are buying and who off. One time I bought off someone who was relatively new (in another forum) and got them to advertise it on ebay so I could buy through there (I footed the fee's) but it made me more comfortable with the purchase. And as 555wagon says lots of people view and don't post for various reasons. With my last car it took me a year to get 100 posts on a forum and that was just because I was learning lots from just reading, the tutorials to follow, my car didn't break, and I was unsure how people would react to a seemingly stupid question.

Well took a screen shot and saved as jpeg. List is as below

Well I have managed to find a center cap for £4.99 delivered to finish the set off which is good news. Going to get the wheels all looking as good as the clean one above in the next few days. And today I have made a excel spreadsheet of the jobs I need to get done.

I remember reading a AA stat that said 80% of tyre blowouts were small punctures and could therefore be fixed temporarily with foam. However I still carry a spare because sods law says you are going to be that 20% when you need the car the most. I also carry a foam thing for the sake of easiness if I do get a small puncture, don't really like the thought of changing a tyre on the side of the motorway. As for LPG I have been in a few (all taxi's in Aus have them) and you can't notice the difference at all, changing between fuels when driving you hear a little difference when they change but no performance drop was noticeable. Have looked at getting it done my self just don't think I run enough miles

Regional county/Borough/District: Bradford/Leeds West Yorkshire Car Model: 200 year Impreza Turbo 2000 Any Mods: 4-pot front brakes with grooved discs, k&n panel filter, nothing major yet but have plans Picture:

The wheels I believe are 5x100 pcd so that should work. I believe the calipers should be the Subaru 4 pots which you can swap, but different pads and bigger discs needed, although possibly the best mod you can do so worth doing it. As for the turbo and suspension I'm not sure, haven't got round to doing anything to mine yet so no idea although would be good to know. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along soon. Get some pics of your car uploaded as well, and let us know your plans. Plenty of friendly people here and good to get stuck in and not just car stuff.

You can always do the wrap yourself, not meant to be that hard with 2 people, and from the videos looks easy enough. I made money on the last car I had, excluding petrol and insurance, tallied it up when I sold it and made a healthy £31 profit:)
