2019 Forester Dashcam Connections
I ran a fused line direct from the battery into the cabin (my live also powers the GFB electronic boost controller, wideband and boost gauge) The switched live I got from the fuse box with a fused jumper https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fittings/autoleads-blade-add-a-fuse-576436.html Found a switched live using a multi meter. On my SF5 it was fuse 9 I believe. My 10 inch display also automatically switches to rear view full screen when reversing, I did this by splicing into the reverse bulb signal wire.

Just a quick update, been busy since January so gonna give some pics of the progress 👍 Japspeed unequal headers, up pipe and 200 cell high flow 3 inch down pipe, all heat wrapped. 2.5 inch Hayward and Scott non resonated cat back, had the cat end widened to marry up to 3 inch down pipe. Swapped out the turbosmart bov for a HKS SSQ. GlowShift boost gauge and matching Wideband kit fitted, custom build pillar mount flocked to match the dash. GFB fuel pressure regulator and GFB response electronic boost controller, still running the stock vf34 sti turbo along with a swrd 290 fuel pump and yellow injectors. ZeroSports front lip kit fitted, fender flares fitted, side skirt extensions and rear spats fitted, running 25mm spacers front and 35mm rear from Direnza. Car sprayed with Artic White. Still waiting on an extended rear spoiler from Lithuania 🤨 it’s only taken 2 month so far 🤣 Had the wheels sprayed from copper to a dark gun metal metallic. After that it’s going to be a 2005 sti engine 6 speed swap so the RA sti engine and 5 speed will be going. Opnions so far 😬😅- help needed
Check you PCV lines for leaks or disconnections, that can lead to a lumpy idle. MAF as above is another one, clogged intake too- Forester Cross Sport
They have had some absolute monsters in, I mainly use them for parts, they import a lot of half cuts but they sell on a first come first serve basis pretty much, luckily they’re only a few miles from our yard 😂- Quirky Question
4 wheel drive dude 👍 The wheels are connected together so spinning the rears will spin the fronts and vice versa. You can also tell what sort of diff you have by doing this, spin the rear wheel and if the opposite rear spins the same direction it’s an lsd, if it spins opposite it’s an open diff.- how to turn off the alarm sound
Maybe a trickle charger set up ? My Impreza was only used as a street cruiser maybe twice a month, once a week I would attach my trickle charger to the battery, I have an outside waterproof plug set up outside my garage, the charger is small enough to fit under the bonnet with it closed too, put it on at night, disconnect when I left for work in the morning, I did it on Thursday night to Friday morning as that’s when my bins go out so I never forgot about it.- SF turbo rear subframe
I swear by Whiteline, apart from my GC8 Iv used them on every Scoob Iv owned, iv got sway bars and anti roll bars ready to fit to the fossy when my bushes turn up, I went with the Powerflex “yellow” 👍- Forester Cross Sport
https://www.jm-imports.co.uk/ Iv used them a few times before for parts and cars, they got me the sti RA gearbox, driveshafts, hubs etc that I’m using in my fossy, they’ve also imported a Nissan Stagea Autech for my mate (the rb26 6 speed manual, same as in the r34 gtr) and a Mitsubishi Legnum manual for my father in law.- Forester sf body mods advice ?
My original plan was; Blob eye rear spats Gc8 side skirts with a side skirt extension Forester SF front lip Photos below of parts Iv got nearly 3 weeks off work over Xmas, iv got a ton of bondo and fibreglass cloth, spot putty and paint, so plan was to fit parts and respray the entire car, paint iv got is polar arctic white (standard Ford transit colour) with a white Pearl pigment and LD7R, it’s a pepper grey metallic with a heavy fleck (modified VW colour) All the paints Iv had laying around from other projects- Forester sf body mods advice ?

Cheers Fozzi, they look like just what I’m looking for 👍👍 I’m running the stock side skirts, at the moment, I was going to run a set of GC8 2 piece skirts but the skirts are included in the kit Iv just bought. Im running a set of TEIN street master pro coil overs I had in the garage from an older project, from a GC8 wagon with modified rear top hats to fit the sf struts.- Forester sf body mods advice ?
I’m loving the set SF5Fozzi has but I can’t find that size or style, I’m no stranger to body work and I do own a compressor and spray set up so cutting something to pieces isn’t too much of a problem. To turn what I already have into something that resembles SF5’s would take quite a bit of work as 1 set is too wide and the other isn’t the right shape, as it’s my weekend/shopping car I’d prefer an easier starting point without spending a bomb- Forester sf body mods advice ?
They mainly make those kits for the SG9 body, I have found some for the SF5 but I’m not prepared to spend over £1000 plus shipping. I’m not too keen on that style either, it’s a bit much for me, my current wheel set is flush rear and a little proud front, I was hoping for a 20-30mm fender flare so I can run a 10-20mm spacer front and a 20-30mm rear- Forester sf body mods advice ?
Hey all, as the title says I’m looking to do some cosmetic work to the fossy and was wondering if anyone knew of any quality parts for it ? I have ordered a Zerosports full lip kit, front and rear lips and a set of side skirts, photo below. I have been looking for an over fender kit, I already have 2 sets, a “universal” set, I bought 2 sets by mistake for my mates Volvo v50 T5 project, photo below and a blob eye set that never got fitted before I sold the car. Both would need quite a bit of work to look right though. I was wondering if anyone had bought a direct bolt on kit that doesn’t cost a grand or doesn’t come from Lithuania. I also removed the rear bumper last week and found that the steel upper bumper support was rotten and needs replaced but can’t find what I’m looking for. any help would be great 👍- Turbo covertion
Not worth the hassle in my opinion, but if your set on keeping your current car I’d go the easiest and cheapest route. Buy a crash salvage/MOT failure/rotten shell turbo and swap everything over. Then you know you have everything to “make it work” as it were. It sounds daunting but it’s far from it, Subarus are like Lego, they pretty much swap over from model to model. Basic tools are required for the majority of the work, the only thing I would say you would need is an engine hoist which you can barrow or hire.- Oil advice & recommendations from oilman @ Opie Oils
1999 Forester Turbo S with a version 4 STI engine and gearbox. Im running Millers fully synthetic 5-40. Weekend car, used only for shopping and the likes, got a 2019 for pick up for work/daily use.- Wheel spacers
Just had a look through my old records, my 2005 blob eye had 15 front and 20 rear on stock 17 inch wheels, made by a company called RMS I believe (although H&R are a better option but due to shipping time and cost I went for the cheaper option) Cost around £60 a set. They did the job, ran them for over a year with no problems, sold the car with them still on.- Wheel spacers
A piece of sticky tape, a string, a tape measure and a nut or bolt. Tie the nut or bolt to one end of the string, tape the other end to your wheel arch/over fender/whatever, then measure the distance from the centre of your wheel to the string line. Id always go over rather than under, if it’s 17mm then get a 20 etc- Forester Cross Sport
Owned a lot of Subaru’s including both a Legacy GTB and forester turbo s. legacy drives and feels pretty much the same as an Impreza estate with the exception of the power coming on later and harder in the Rev range (mine wa the e tune 2.5 twin turbo) Forester drives more like an suv, stock suspension is squishy and soft but the drive feels smoother and less rattly. Personal opinion here but, I would never own another auto, they are never as fun to drive. Again, it’s all down to personal preference. Good luck with your search buddy, plus, the SG cross sport has the best looking factory bumper and grill combo of all the fossy’s in my opinion 👍- SF turbo rear subframe
Looking good 👍 Where did you get your bushings from ? I need a set of front wishbone bushes for fossy, may as well do the whole car over Xmas. I did find a supplier of Duraflex red bushes, £380 for everything but it’s overseas shipping, I’d rather not get stung but import tax if I can help it.- SF turbo rear subframe
Glad we could help buddy, hopefully you can get back to that sweet suby rumble soon 👍- Apple Car Play Retrofit?
They call it a “grounding line” or “earth strip” The one in the fozzy for the pioneer is sticky backed and flexible metal, the one in my Ford pick up is a nextbase antenna and has a magnet on the back attached by a thick black cable. It is just an earth, most aftermarket DAB radios have a powered antenna, both of my radios take power from the same cable that runs from the antenna to the radio, the earth attaches to either the A pillar or the inside of the roof. Iv attached both to the inside of the roof, just means I can mount the window part as far up into the roof lining as possible. - Forester sf body mods advice ?
