  1. Im not a 100 % but i Think the early foresters have a tdo3 early impreza's (v1&v2) have either a tdo4 or tdo5 top entry v3 onwards classic impreza's have front entry , tdo4's on uk's and wrx's but vf series on the sti versions All newage impreza's have front entry turbos with either Tdo4's , Tdo5's and vf series .The latter either comes in single scroll or twin scroll depending on the year/ model
  2. Yeah they are quite similar to blob wrx seats that's why I put a pic up , as I thought you wanted something to match the rears and door cards ;-) I saw front and rear aclantara (haven't a clue how it's spelt lol) blue seats for £250 on a f.b site but yet again they had sti on them . Haven't seen the ones in the pdf link before tbh
  3. Sounds like it's had a fair bit spent on it and with fmic ,tdo5 and yellow injectors it would probably see fairly close to 350hp but has probably been held back due to the anti lag and launch control putting extra strain on the transmission . of course you do know that this thread is missing one vital thing ... some pics :-)
  4. Yeah I've got 2010 sti seats in my 94 sti but I had to make some brackets up for the inner rear mounting point . I prefer the look of the hatch seats and they match my black and grey aclantra door cards quite well but aren't as "buckety" as classic seats Anything from classic to hawkeye front seats are a straight swop though. Although im unsure if the wagon rear bench will fit saloon
  5. I think ecutek is about the cheapest option for mapping your standard ecu did the previous owner give you any paperwork for a ecutek licence? as finding out if its been mapped would be a good first step and if it hasn't been mapped search for some costings of mobile or local mappers. id eco getting it on a dyno somewhere ( preferably where they know their scoobies) as they might be able to diagnose or fix any minor issues while giving it a health check as for dump valves some people like them some don't most seem to work fine when mapped in (un metered air is accounted for) but some brands/types cause issues when un mapped im running a baileys with a upgraded spring (so get a bit of chatter on low boost) it's been mapped in and it works fine but personally ive always thought that throwing boost away by venting it to air didn't make as much sense as putting the boost back into the intake tract however ive found no proof that either vta or recirc perform better so think its just down to personal preference like most mods imo
  6. Thanks for that fellas I normally use auto glym super resin polish and then the boat wax but know a few of you like to keep a sparkling scoob so thought I'd ask you all ;-)
  7. Sorry stants it was the regular bar not medium :-) As for the bulbs I was looking at the led ones on ebay but would prefer to use a type that's tried n tested ;-)
  8. I got the medium 200g bar did find it a little difficult to "nead" but i am a newbie and I left it in the sun for a bit which seemed to make it more pliable . Bought some 40% carnauba boat wax of a local forum it smells like marzipan and gives a lasting shine but there's not much left :-( Anybody recommend a good wax for silver cars ? A bit off topic but can anyone point me in the direction of some brighter headlight bulbs ? the hid kit was playing up so I've had to fit standard bulbs in the headlights . My led sidelights now make my headlights look like fooking candles
  9. Cheers chaps I might change the front grill for the one off the uk turbo with the black badge and I've still got to fit .... my vibe front door speakers the rear sti spats and one rear black door handle (still lol) Did fly through the mot only thing he mentioned was the rear wash wiper not working .easy fix as after driving a uk without a rear wiper for 2yrs I'd forgotten to refit it :-D Mapping was still a bit disappointing (again ) as the 20yr old classic coilpacks didn't like anymore than 1.1 bar of boost:-( It kept misfiring as he tried to feed more boost in which is down to having a weak spark (boost blows the spark out) Did manage 330hp @1.1 bar and it pulls cleaner than ever with slightly better economy . next up newage coilpack conversion ;-)
  10. Did you get the roof lining as well matt? If so could you take a measurement off that ? As for cutting it out best of luck buddy I struggled with cutting the rear bulkhead to fit the 6x9 in my saloon lol
  11. Popped my clay cherry (I'd never used clay before) well impressed with the results :-) Then gave it a polish and sealed it with wax just in time for the rain :-( Well at least it beads nicely now and should protect it over the winter . Paid just under £60 delivered for the b&h clay , oil filter and some fuchs pro r oil with the club discount @opie oils :-)
  12. It might be a newage rear box as I think they only have one hanger near the outlet . as I'm sure that classic back boxes fit newage just don't use one of the hangers at the back ;-)
  13. I bought this kit that uses stainless steel pistons (so they don't seize again) http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~godspeed/product.php?id_product=150 Think Ian still sells the mild steel pistons and seals separately if budget won't allow
  14. I've done everything myself bar the machine work needed for the engine build (have a squint at my project thread on here). Silicone boost hoses are fine as long as they're good quality (reinforced) and not cheap chinky ones that suck flat
  15. Here's a pic of my v3's bay mainly done with second hand samco hoses, ebay "boost junkie" vacuum hoses kit , autosol and a bit of paint
  16. Looks like vacuum pipes are attached to it and the boost solenoid in the background doesn't look like the bottom port is attached to anything . so id say manual boost controller ;-) What boost are you running ?
  17. Nice looking scoob you've got there fella. as for parts most classic bits are interchangeable it's basically just the inlet, fuel rails, injectors that vary . if you do make any purchases just make sure that the seller confirms the part fits a v3/v4 (as they're identical under the bonnet )
  18. I have got one which made 320 hp on my v3 , but it's got a bit of damage to one of the lugs that bolt it to the upipe (it cracked when I removed it) I don't think it would blow but i wouldn't really want to sell anything that I couldn't 100% vouch for tbh . Top entry Tdo5's can be found from as little as £50 upwards if you pick one of those up I could sell you the front entry inlet housing which is easily swapped over without touching the core assembly (so no need to get it rebalanced) just 1 circlip to split it and actuator bracket to swap
  19. V1 & v2 are top entry v3 onwards is front ;-)
  20. Nice launch nick and good time as well for a fully trimmed newage . I'm gutted I haven't been to any shows this year :-( I Must try to resist the urge to pull the car to bits next year and actually start driving the fooking thing a bit more :-D did anyone else put up any pics ? As I haven't seen them in the new content section yet
  21. The main difference between classic boxes is the ratio's just Google your gearbox ty number to find it's ratio and buy a 5 speed with the same ratio . If you get a 96 onward box you'll have to use your original mechanical speedo sensor and mabey the black and white plugged bit of loom . As later boxes use a electronic speedo sensor but if it's the right ratio classic box it matches up with the diff and will fit all drive/prop shafts , linkage clutch ect of your existing set up .
  22. I checked the plug gaps when I had the engine out and they were still at the 0.7 I'd set them at 4kmls ago . spoke to my brv and he'd had the same issue with his old engine as hit 320 hp @ 1.2 bar then it blew the spark out . He re gapped his plugs to 0.5 and then saw 347hp without any problems but the mapper said 0.5 gap is too close and hints at the 20yr old classic coilpacks being the issue . newage one's have a stronger spark so would be the best solution . didn't have this issue before the reshell as my old v3 uk ran the single centre mounted coilpack rather than the sti spec coilpack on each plug .
  23. Glad it was a easy fix fella and that grin is back on your face :-)
  24. Gaulson you can get 300 with the standard cat in place or maybe look for a sports cat for a compromise . had mine remapped today but misfire held it back :-( It still made 330 hp 310flb @ 1.2 bar which was more than enough to see off the celica cup that was trying his luck on the way home. So i guess ..... next up newage coil packs and a bigger maff ;-)
