  1. I'm running out of mechanical things to check and have already found that the icv had been wired back to front . I wasn't going to mention it on my build thread or on here , as he's been very helpful and everyone makes mistakes . He's away for a couple of weeks now, so have been trying to sort it myself . It's been hot idling at 12.6 (instead of 14.2 ) so not too far out but unfortunately I got a few puffs of blue smoke on a gentle test run , so i think its starting to bore wash now ๐Ÿคฌ Hopefully it's not done any damage to the rings or bores ๐Ÿ˜’ So I've ordered oil n filter and won't be running it up again until the whole looms been checked over , just a shame as its taxed and otherwise show ready . Plus I had a little taster of what I've been missing and it's made me miss it all the more ๐Ÿฅบ
  2. About time too , Jay ๐Ÿ˜Š Got some choice mods already by the looks of things , so more like half way up the ladder than a good base to start from ๐Ÿ˜Ž As for parking next to me at shows .... Unless you come to Suffolk, its not gonna be next to the v1sti atm ๐Ÿ™„ Bug is a bit rougher round the edges , so I'd be the one looking to park a few spaces away from you ๐Ÿ˜‚ .
  3. I managed 347hp on my standard tdo5 16g and had to go 6 speed (busted 2 x 5 speeds) if you're thinking about a 20g they do tend to be a bit laggy on a 2ltr , even with a billet wheel .... and you'd definitely need a straight cut geared 5 speed or 6 speed at 400hp . Also watch out for cheap copy turbos as there's more of those on the market than genuine ones . And yeah I hope I get to the bottom of the running rich thing soon , I've stopped driving it again through fear of bore wash ๐Ÿ˜
  4. Sold my extra td05 and unfortunately want to keep the spare one @JamesJDMwagon Did take the old girl for a spin today , still seem to have a rich running issue , starting to think theres a issue with the new engine loom ๐Ÿค”
  5. My v3 97 UK turbo only ran 0.6 bar as standard, so it might not be a intake air leak causing the problem. What model /version is it ? What Ron fuel do you use ? Could try cleaning the maf with brake and clutch cleaner , just be sure that the maf is dry before refitting and dont touch the element (wire) , as they're very fragile. A self ECU code check and reset might help too
  6. @mattiekane oh nice ,avcs bananas ๐Ÿ˜ฅ @JamesJDMwagon Ha ha told ya , once you start you'll be forever tidying up the bay ๐Ÿ˜Š Looking good though chap ๐Ÿ‘ My p.s pump whines more than the mrs when I buy scooby stuff , so might do a remote res newage p.s pump conversion at some point ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. Nice one chap , looking forward to seeing it at the "east coast Japanese " cars n coffee meet next Sunday ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. I have still got the anti lift kit , super pro wishbone bushes and cusco H brace to fit ๐Ÿ˜Š But I'll probably fit those towards the end of the year as I want to drive it during the summer ๐Ÿ˜‰ The old fpr didn't have a gauge , so I've just set the pressure at standard pressure . It seems to be running a bit rich , so I'll definitely get it checked over on attowe dyno at some point . But I will admit I'm starting to run out of things to do , might have to start working on the bug instead lol . Do fancy a building a 2.35 at some point and I doubt the race spec Mahle pistons will do many more miles .As they're ment to be thrashed around on track, not poodling round town , so they don't get hot enough ๐Ÿ™„ So if all else fails , I'll turn the boost up to 2 bar and see how long it lasts ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚
  9. Taxed it , then took her for a birthday drink . On the way back I was tailgated by a mountune badged st focus all the way through town wtf . Once we hit the slip lane on the carriageway...... 3rd gear pull put a good 4 or 5 car lengths between us and I dumped it in 6th at 60mph .Then watched the disbelief and disappointment on his face as he flew past at 80mph +shortly afterwards ๐Ÿ˜‚ Old scoobies never die ..... they just get faster ๐Ÿ˜‰ Managed to give the ally pipework a polish and give the defis a test run (well happy with them ) , so here's another pic of the finished bay, one of the scooby (to prove it does move lol) and one of the defis lit up .
  10. Drove it .... at last ๐Ÿ˜Š
  11. @WideSam if it's not broke ,you might as well upgrade it now it's out ..... so it doesn't break at a later date ๐Ÿ˜‰ Best of luck getting it back together, bud
  12. Had a squint at the service manual and it mentions a "speed sensor (2)" I'm not sure if this means there's 2 types (cable and electrical) or that's there's 2 sensors tbh . It shows it near the brake servo (could be either side of the bulkhead ) theres a pic with a number 7 pointing at the part below. The sensor itself needs a oscilloscope to check while running with all 4 wheel off the ground but theres a ECU pin plug list and pic . This is taked from looking at the wires with the ECU harness plugs plugged into the ECU ๐Ÿ˜‰. And a pin voltage /resistance check for the ECU/speed sensor harness. Pics will probably post in the wrong order , so hope you can make sense of it lol. Best of luck with it , chap ๐Ÿ‘
  13. What model /trim type is it out of ? With the manual turbo Impreza, most boxes are interchangeable , as long as the ratio is the same . You could try googling your box ty number , to see what ratio it is and cross reference that to see if any other Subaru's run the same ratio auto boxes .
  14. A visual check at the back of the clocks for loose connectors and damage to the circuit board ,would be where I'd start . Also a ECU reset might help , as you might have resolved the problem by cleaning the cable and it's just flashing up the old code . If that doesn't work I can dig out some info on which ECU pins to check , if you want ?
  15. I'm interested but can't commit 100% until a bit closer to the time . When do you need to know /receive payments by ? Or is this just to gauge interest, for now ?
  16. If yours has a speedo cable (mechanical speedo drive) I think, the mechanical to electrical speed sensor converter is in the back of the clocks . As there is no other wires attached to the box in that area and v3 onwards have a electrical speedo drive,(just wires from the speedo drive to clocks , no cable) I assume someone removed the screw in my clocks ,maybe to "de limit" or fit something else aftermarket, that needed a speed reading . Does the speedo read ok ? If so it's probably more likely to be a fault /issue where the cable plugs into the clocks or the printed circuit near it
  17. Cheers chaps ๐Ÿ‘ The build number is 19 /100 may 94 , so may the 1st I'm going to tax it and take her for a 25th birthday drink ...... Shes got expensive taste ๐Ÿ™„ but Nothing but shell's finest will do for my old girl ๐Ÿ˜Š
  18. The strip down the center of the clocks is either for auto or DCCD boxes , afaik. Think being a v2 it would have the mechanical speedo drive ? If so are your clocks showing the right speed and working smoothly? I had a no ECU speed reading on my v1sti but it's running apexi f.c ,so didn't matter until I tried to get my avcr gear judge function working. It took me a while to find out why but it was because someone had removed this screw on the back of the clocks . Once I refitted the screw the speed reading returned to the apexi ECU.
  19. I wouldn't take it as gospel , I'm not up to spec on newage, I've never seen one on my dash and so try to use the change in back lights as a reference when driving, instead of looking down at the stalk position I do tend to use the side lights more , as loads of newer cars have daytime running lights and you do tend to notice them .
  20. I've been told my 52 plate UK sti has had a jdm clock swap , did wonder if there was supposed to be a "sidelight on " light . Dont know if yours are the same clocks as mine ? In mine when the side lights are on, the clocks ,switches and gauges illuminate .The digital outside temp odometer LCD screens dim a bit as well . I have left them on a few times but thankfully ,they shut off when the keys aren't in the ignition .
  21. Not bad for ยฃ45 either ๐Ÿ˜‰
  22. After cleaning maf ,icv and tps , then tracing and checking all voltages to sensors and harnesses..... I learnt a lot about how all these sensors work together but wasn't any closer to finding the high idle issue ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™„ Vacuum or intake leaks normally cause a high idle but accompanied with lean afrs , hunting and rough running. I'd carefully sprayed brake n clutch cleaner around the inlet ports and most of the air intake/vacuum system, so pretty much ruled out a leak . But I found a small hole in the silicone elbow, I cut to make the turbo to maf pipework (from a jubilee clip nipping it ) I also cleaned some of the powder coat from where the engine loom earths on the inlet , so not 100% sure which one fixed it but ... I fixed it ๐Ÿ˜Š Also had the 3x 60mm custom preface center pod turn up and "south coast flocking " have made a lovely job of that.๐Ÿ‘ So no more pics of the inlet , well until I've polished the alley ๐Ÿ˜‹ So here's a few of the offending elbow and defi pod fitted ๐Ÿ˜Š
  23. Intake / vacuum leaks are normally associated with high idle, accompanied by hunting and rough running. Hence why after spraying intake cleaner (carefully) around the inlet and not getting any changes in idle , I'd sort of ruled it out . Credit to the old tech apexi ECU o2 correction for keeping the afr in check and getting it to idle/run steady .
  24. Tiny split in a intake hose ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚
