  1. if the heated rear screen is being used as antenna too then there is a capacitor to block the DC going into your radio, most likely that this capacitor is kaput. i have no clue where that capacitor can be as my06 Forester doesn't have it but you can buy them for pennies at Maplin and with a bit of smoke and solder an easy fix.
  2. good call! glad you sorted it in the end. i must say that with a bit of corrosion on the bolt / nut of that battery clamp it's easy to get loose.
  3. i did had a search in the service manual but cannot really find info about the remote key antenna location. the only thng i did find is the immobilizer antenna what sits around the keycylinder. in my previous vehicle, Kia Sorento, i could find a small antenna visual when the radio head was removed. the keyless module is located behind the Glove Box, wurth to have a look at the connecters
  4. MOT time for the Rav4, passed :)
  5. the only hng i can think off the top of my head, reciever antenna inside the car? i will have search to see where it's located.

  14. i'm in the process of trying to save my battery but as i have no idea how old the battery is i'm also in the outlook for a replacement battery. did some search and came across the Yuasa YBX5005 battery as a possible replacement battery. question; anyone who used this battery?
  15. i have bought a couple things here in the UK from the US and if it's bigger then an envelope changes are that Mr Custom is going to charge you. now that doesn't mean panic as for some things the US is still cheaper including import taxes. back in Australia we bought most Subaru parts from the US as they were most of the times cheaper then in Australia including p&p & gst. Also they have / had the rule if it was under $1000 it was exempt from import tax (gst). every little helps :P
  16. interesting; http://www.uniden.com.au/AUSTRALIA/CrashCamApp.html might have a look at it at some point...

  20. short answer; all insurances are scumbags full stop. long answer; the premiums are like the weather so YOU can only ask for quotes as they are most of the times different to every one so not one insurance does has the same premium every time. what i mean is that i might get a good quote at insurance x over insurance z but for you it can be the other way around. avoid to just take the renewal quote but look around. i had some good results by using Keith Michaels as Jason Robbery give me a discount since i'm a member of the HPOC forum but this can be total different for some one else.
  21. yep, yep, driving fast is easy but driving responsible is some thing what only a few do right i'm afraid. i like driving fast too when on the German autobahn or on a race circuit but public roads are public roads and i have no mercy with people breaking laws as most of the times they take others with them... and here in the UK there are plenty of track days so no excuse IMHO
  22. a quick jet wash at Sainsbury's to remove the sand
