  1. could be movement in the top mount bearing, even if it is bolted up solid there may be some play if worn / damaged
  2. the fact that it sorts itself out once warmed up would have me agreeing with the previous comments - fluid related, hopefully the garage that did the work will sort it without a fuss
  3. great looking motor good luck with the sale :)
  4. great benefits for not huge money - result!!
  5. thats brilliant -= nice one!!! great that the waiting is over :D
  6. If you do have any further issues with the app let us know as we can flag it Steve to check from this end as well - car is coming along nicely
  7. Sounds like a great idea!!
  8. yup fingers crossed hopefully it will be sorted next week
  9. if you are staying NA you wont be looking at huge bhp figures but bolting a turbo to a closed deck ej22 would sort that. However as its a strong block you could look at maximising the NA potential by blueprinting (lightening, balancing, porting, flowing, etc) and raising the compression, the gain in BHP wont be huge but the driveability and response will be there. Running some lumpier cams will increase your top end rush. Obviously the more you can do yourself will keep the costs down and you will get peace of mind knowing what has been done when by whom
  10. Stick with that - its a peach of a lump ;) lots of potential
  11. I dont know if you will gain that much - a bit more low down torque maybe but if you have a good lump at the moment stick with it and get it spot on, is it a closed deck block as that will take quite a bit of tuning work to increase the power reliably
  12. sounds like a plan as once its running right then you can work on the tweaks
  13. Wotcha and welcome I know later models have a wider track and larger wheel bearings to improve heat dissipation. check anti roll bar thickness front and rear gearbox and clutch may also be different due to larger engine in the STI
  14. yes does sound like it will look great and I know what you mean about symmetry - but that is the engineer in me, its all got to look balanced
  15. Yup I looked at the picture, the original system has a two into 1 manifold then a cat then a sensor then another cat then a silencer. you have two silencers into a big silencer and twin exits this - irrespective of distance travelled is going to disturb the flow and mixture due to the circulatory nature of the silencers as opposed to a cat which is straight through perforated material You can move the sensor closer to the down pipe but I think overall you may be looking at a redesign of the exhaust to get an undisturbed flow, a two into one before the silencer or a twin sensor setup
  16. Wotcha and welcome I would position it closer the original setup is positioned just after the first cat so shouldnt be a problem moving it closer to the engine. how does the system differ to mates setup did he join the down pipes into one before silencing similar to the original?
  17. does this help http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_180.htm
  18. if there are no photos it hasnt happened ;) - will you be painting the mesh black or keeping silver?
  19. nice job - tidied up no problem
  20. seems like a reasonable trade off ;)
  21. could you delay the MOT - it does sound like a fair amount of stress
