  1. just for info as it has come up - the oiling of a filter is to catch the really fine particles that ordinarily would pass through the filter, hence the requirement to clean and re oil periodically - it is only to be a very light oiling, the filter shouldn't be dripping in the stuff, on the pipercross ones the only way you can tell its been oiled is it changes colour slightly as I use the blue putoline filter oil but after a day on the track particularly in dry conditions it is covered in dust and light blue no longer
  2. These are for non turbo, normally aspirated (NA) cars :) I have used K&N on cars and bikes and Pipercross on MX bikes - when it comes down to a choice between these two go for whichever you like the look of as they are both good quality manufacturers - or additionally take into consideration the point Miggs made about having one that you do not need to oil
  3. That is a distinct possibility particularly when the turbo spools up

it will be loud that is true but it is suggested just a short journey - on a positive note it will put a smile on your face as if it is the exhaust your car will take off through the range no probs :D
  5. if you dont need a new engine sort the shocks and wheel bearing otherwise you will be just making a noise on your driveway :P
  6. I would have thought you could remove it - I believe it is just for noise damping
  7. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to start sticking some photos up of your projects.
  8. Couple of pipercross options http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIPERCROSS-INDUCTION-KIT-Subaru-Impreza-GC-2-0-Sport-/300278174130?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45e9f951b2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-PH1-with-AFM-Pipercross-Viper-Induction-Kit-Air-Intake-Filter-/350596852532?fits=Car+Make%3ASubaru|Model%3AImpreza&hash=item51a1336b34 and a K&N option http://www.just-subaru.com/my99-00-2-0-16v-sport-k-n-induction-kit-72384-0.html Just check with supplier to make absolutely sure they will fit your car ;)
  9. The shop account and forum accounts are separate for security reasons, but you are correct there should a be a clearer logout option from the shop ill drop the Admin team a line
  10. I know Perth based RA developments have chosen Cobra as their development partner for the BRZ GT*^ project they are working on so I dont think you will be dissappointed
  11. Must admit I didnt know about this one but the photos look great!!
  12. ^^^^^^^
  13. I think where this forum differs from a few I have seen out there is the positive response to all irrespective of age, mechanical experience and length of time owning / driving or not at all in some cases just having the interest. Some I have signed up to it just seems to be a place where they look for fresh meat to berate and abuse - not what I would like to see here
  14. That sounds awesome!!
  15. Thats it as long as you dont sell on or throw away straight away you can always revert - also as you do add more mods some will work well with standard items and wont work as well with other mods so the more you get away from a standard setup you increase the chance of that happening
  16. Wotcha and welcome !!
  17. Wotcha and welcome!! ;)
  18. The closed deck EJ20 will be exactly the same as what you have currently installed its just how the block is made which differs. EJ25 is the same layout but you will have some more sensor points on the engine but the majority of them would be surplus to requirement as you are running a different ecu
  19. I was checking my deodorant :D
  20. That does look a great improvement surprised how shabby the original looks but I guess that is what original model compromise is about, cheaper materials lower cost etc. yup that vid sounds like it will be a smile generator ;)
  21. Fair play to her and as you say clearly committed to achieving her goals
  22. Have a prodrive backbox fitted as part of the PPP dealer install but I know the system will have to be replaced probably next year as a check under the car has show corrosion but teh SS back box is fine. I will probably go for a Milltek as the exhausts are the same size and I like the sound. The H&S doesnt look too big on this picture http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_53 The track friendly cobras are not to large either http://www.cobrasport.com/exhaust/Subaru/Impreza+Turbo+WRX+and+STI+%2801-07%29/31/0/0
  23. I can empathise with that - blew a ton 20 on stuff just after ours arrived - first time using clay bar - didnt think to rinse off after using it though, hot day and it had all dried just went straight to the polish now got !Removed! sap all over the car again (two huge trees outside the house!!) and a normal wash with some branded soap hasn't cleared it so will need to spend some time again - have checked out the da polisher and can see me investing in one of those :)
