This forum is comparatively young and we havent organised anything under the club banner yet - it has been discussed and there is some interest there but we havent quite got our act together The intention is to get a little more sorted as we get more momentum. the only requirement for this forum is the six stars aaaaannnnd thinking about it you dont even have to own one - just be interested, we have a chap who unfortunately forgot he was wearing his diving boots to work and pranged his scooby a couple of weeks after buying it so now saving to get another, a young lad in Scotland who shares his fathers passion and I know of one chap who is currently between scoobies but is considering a change of make. Its all good. between the mods and admin we obviously read every post and whilst opinions are actively encouraged (as are photos) and there will be differing ones on occasion being bitchy is not something we will go for. I will caveat that with there is general banter between some of us which is not exclusive but generally starts as Gambit and I get bored easily :D

A slip on end can will change the sound - it may be louder it may change the tone it will depend on shape / size it will be down to your taste as to if this is an improvement or not, check on you tube etc for vids of different exhausts sounds that may help your decision. The spoilers may fit - as far as the size between the various models (Blob, Round, Hawk) the back end is the same however the mounting holes may differ. Take a tape measure with you when you go to the breakers and check before purchase. You can take yours off and get the mounting hole diameter and location prior to a trip to the yard. Ultimately most body kits spoilers etc can be made to fit if you have the time / skillset / inclination to drill holes, fill gaps and blend to fit

As I understand it (we were looking at a Hawkeye before the hatch) the Hawkeye Spec D version differs very little - more soundproofing inside car itself, small boot spoiler and silver rims instead of gold all the rest is same as WRX STI model. Boot spoiler, carbon lower lip on lower front air dam + rear high line spoiler will have it more race track than cul de sac ;) There are regular meets in the Surrey area involving members but I don't know of any Bristol, Glos, Worcs area from this site

Can anyone recommend an exhaust for my 2007 STi Spec D
As you would be changing the exhaust for aesthetic reasons I would hold on until you can get one from a dealer who knows it will def fit - and if it doesn't will take it back. The existing exhaust is not too restrictive so I would take the budget you do have and look at the induction kit / filter as suggested already a rolling road session / ecu remap to match that and your boot spoiler - when I was looking at Hawkeyes I found there are a lot of bolt on goodies for styling that take your Spec D (for Discrete) to Spec L (Look at me!)

Yup have played those games, have made them (over enthusiastic kids) wait in the rain whilst I get in and then unlock from the doors from the inside

ebay throws up some good second hand stuff but you run the risk of it not fitting spot on - if you are happy getting the spanners out etc that wont be an issue for yourself this bunch have a range of good quality kit and are very helpful on the phone http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_156 or you could take a chance, measure the diameter of you existing mid section pipe and have a look at something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-STI-BACK-BOX-EXHAUST/231005417894?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D15867%26meid%3D8645163402318830508%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D7588%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D130934885527%26

Wotcha and welcome - the main bearing is a fault that shows up every so often unfortunately - slight misalignment of the gearbox on assembly or something ??? I looked at the differences between WRX and STI before making final decision and the differences with the STI are numerous not just power which overall make it a better package.

the dump valve is designed to work with a turbo, keeps it spinning by releasing pressure when you change gear - you can get some noise generators for non turbo models though http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saber-EDV-V3-Fake-Dump-Valve-Fit-Subaru-Impreza-MR2-/150657617376?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2313e4cde0 I would stick with just a cherry bomb / exhaust system and induction kit, that will sound great

stainless exhausts
to a degree yes however as performance is not your primary concern you could look at quality of materials but from a lesser known name but it is the fit which you would need to ensure is to your satisfaction - H&S do supply a quality product though it has to be said

wow cherry bomb now there is a blast from the past no self respecting rally rep was complete without one of those bad boys - you will certainly be no shrinking wall flower with one of those fitted ;)
-
stainless exhausts
The ECU will work fine but as you have increased the ability of the car to flow more air you may find it runs a little lean, the electrics should compensate but a map to suite will get you the best mixture for your car to ensure it runs efficiently. If you are thinking about Hayward and Scott level budgets why not consider a made to measure system which would be done to your spec lifetime guarantee etc

scooby vs sky line.
yup the whole approach from the scooby driver was - this is no big deal, fires up just before start, holds revs, dump - shift - repeat - now wheres me tabs :D

Plugs and leads
NGK plugs - had them for years with cars and bikes - never had any issues even on a crosser. Magnecor leads for good electrical wiggly transfer ;)
