  1. Haha I take my mate with a bottle of coke sounds a lot deeper now, good bit louder after 4.5k. Intake manifolds not as hot. Now to spend all night googling and checking out the replacement grill
  2. Plugs changed and airbox bottle removed. And ofcourse found an absolute load of grime I didn't get last time round lol new job for tomorrow
  3. Get the feeling they were never changed
  4. Plenty holes in the front but they are so big a small child would get stuck in the radiator. And strangely the holes for the airbox are tiny it's only the top 3 that divert up into the air feed which I didn't actually realise at first, Was thinking about meshing behind the grills if I have time I'll pull out the underside fixings aswell. ill take a look at that Sti piece cheers mate. Like the normal grills just not all the crap they let through, and now the restricted airflow. Hopefully removing that bottle would let some more air into the box it's like it's not getting enough at low speeds. Curious to how loud it's gonna be now. Stuck an induction kit on my mates 1.4xsara it actually sounded alright mines NA aswell but I only get a whistle when I drop off the throttle it sounds like a jet engine slowing down
  5. Looking for a set of alloys as mine are shocking and haven't really got time to have no car and refurb them. 2.0 2010 hatchback, anyone know if these would fit?
  6. Sweet I'll take it out tonight, got some mesh to put over the open hole so it'll still drain and let more air in. Wanted the put some over the intake funnel? Scoop? Whatever it's called because the box fills with grass bugs and twigs but gonna be a pain with the shape. Body repair aluminium mesh only 1.50 at halfords ATM. Was hoping to put some behind my grills but tried taking them out last night but couldn't budge it think the whole front end comes off as one. Radiator needs cleaning out aswell.
  7. Haven't removed the bottle yet wanted to know what It was first. gonna pull it off tonight. The airbox is untouched as the filter WAs just a drop in replacement. From induction kit pictures they don't seem to use that bottle
  8. 2mm hole in the bottom figured was to catch water but could work as a resonator. Also have a small rectangular box halfway up the air intake pipe no idea what that's for perhaps that acts as a air resouvior struggles at 2-3k but I figure just bad gear choice. Put a piper cross panel in sharper response but still funny at that range
  9. thanks mate but it looks better in the dark lol, can't see the bits where it went wrong.... Mostly where I touched it haha. Will do pics tomorrow also might redo some where I rushed refitting before it had chance to harden. Two plates on the side of intake manifold are going black, wanted blue too but think it'll burn off. This is ridiculously addictive!
  10. Pictures not great as its pitch black, just finished having some fun with blue paint. Got some very high temp black paint too, been raiding halfords nonstop since getting member card and trade card
  11. Did my own, don't trust the garages not had great experiences and reading previous service history from a Subaru garage I'm not going to them either. Only thing I have read to be a real ballache is the spark plugs but it has to be doable
  12. Afternoon all, quick question, what's this bottle for and do I need to keep it on? my guess is it's to drain water out the intake box but mine was just full of spiders etc. Was hoping to ditch it and fit mesh over the hole thinking it will improve air intake. Thanks
  13. Fitted front strut brace. Going to fit the rear to find I need to cut out the boot floor plates to make it fit. Fuggidy fuggidy fug fug fug!!!!
  14. http://subaru-impreza.sgpetch.co.uk/pages/accessories/detail/model=126/category=ROOT-exterior/accessory=Resin+Rear+Bumper+Protector/id=3719 was clicking about looking for hatch parts and found this if that's any good
  15. Thanks for the info mate how long does the card normally take? I got some bits in mind :D buying membership now. Will check out the insurance aswell
  16. Slotted it into the bottom then pulled top together and clipped. Might just be me. Right side of filter feels solid left has a small amount of wiggle but bottoms are slotted in. Is there a slot on the side I could have missed? Think I'll pull it back off tomorrow and double check.
  17. Is the halfords discount across all their range or just certain items? Gonna be joining shortly just been waiting to get paid what's Adrian flux insurance like? It's that joyous time of year for me aswell
  18. Oil, filter and piper cross panel filter. Just in time for darkness. First time doing anything apart from cleaning down. Good fun. Not happy with how slack the air box clips feel now I put that filter in, can't hear any problems and doesn't pull apart just not as tight anymore presuming diff thickness on filter edges. Spark plugs and brake cleanup next
  19. yeah i have the new one, only comes with 1 reverse light and 1 fog light. fog lights insanely bright but the reverse is a waste of time and on the passenger side thanks for the help guys ill check out the bulbs jay suggested
  20. Nice one thanks mate
  21. I haven't tried anything yet thought would ask first. Would any led with the same fitting work?
  22. Hi please can someone shed some light, does anyone know a way to make the reverse light on an Impreza hatch brighter or if another can be fitted? Problem I'm having is it sucks, I would be better off hanging out the window with a torch it lights that little and can't see a thing behind me. Hoping there's a brighter replacement out there or I'll have to fit some extra lights to the body work any help or ideas are appreciated. Thanks
  23. Got a halfords trade card today, then spent the afternoon where I Left off. Cleaned up the alternator and connections properly, cleaned up all the chrome trim and black plastic work . And of course a darth Vader air freshener.
  24. thanks mate, @aucky i watched a youtube video and went to it tbh lol. autoglyms engine cleaner, a brush was doing nothing to mine, i use the centre bits of the old school floor cleaners, bit like a scouring pad but come in a few different grains, then hosed off before it dried up, it was drying very fast so had to do it a couple of times quickly then concentrate on areas. used a paintbrush on everything plastic or rubber. then sprayed down with autoglym vinyl protect, that stuffs ok at best prefer meguiars black trim stuff. the only problem with the engine cleaner was the bottle sucks, spray handles not strong enough. and contact cleaner to go round cleaning alternator and its connections after. got alot more to do on it. spent around 1 hour or more putting clingfilm on all the electric connections and parts that i could find. all the youtube videos show you nice small engines that are neat with very few electrics or other bits. pain in the backside but worth it. tried first time doing it by hand so i didnt need to hose it down, didnt even touch the surface.
  25. now thats a crackin excuse to get out and play. was debating doing it for a few weeks, came back from brighton it was full of sand aswell as the gunk, next need to do air filter badly, oil and filter. gonna take a stab at spark plugs too if i can ever find the right ones, getting mixed messages from websites.
