Another mechanic in the house????? BMW help required
stuartie replied to mattiekane's topic in Junk Room
Hiya mattie i've no experience with bm's but it could be a cracked abs ring as that would give a pulsing type feeling through the pedal, hope you get to the bottom of it and its a cheap fix -
You could try import car parts they are very good and if they don't list it on their website if you give them a call they may be able to get one for you and the prices are competitive

2010 6 speed diesel DIED after owning it for 24 hours...
stuartie replied to ZenRegalia's topic in Subaru Forester Club
Sorry to hear about you're problems unfortunately the diesel boxer engines have suffered quite a few problems although i've never had a scoob diesel i have read that they suffer from crankshaft failure so that could be the reason for no compression and if thats the case you can get the crank replaced or it could be just as economical to get another engine dependant on cost of course ☺- 4 replies

@Sirspidey thanks for the offer buddy 👍👍, i used to have a couple of tropical tanks a few years ago and loved them aswell, i kept alot of different catfish and had siamese fighting fish in seperate tanks of course, plans for this tank are some glass catfish to shoal around mid tank a couple of upside down catfish for the top and a couple of loaches to eat any snails that may appear as already have a couple of the little blighters lol must have been snail eggs on the plants i got, the tetras i have at the moment should be ok as theyl grow to around 2'' they're not small crappy things like neons i wouldn't have them as found they bring disease to the tank, i did think of doing a marine tank but i don't have the time to look after it properly so just went with tropical again, a boy at work has a 600litre marine tank full of coral and it looks amazing ☺☺

Welcome along, i dont think anyone has had a remap done on a non turbo as the gains are minimal for what it would cost although i may be wrong as i have no experience with the gx model, think you would be better upgrading the handling and weight saving to gain a little more performance 👍👍

Recent additions to the household, got myself 10 lemon tetras and 4 pigmy leopard catfish to start the fishtank off, and sasha the pussycat however she has claimed the wife as her human

You probs won't get alot of movement on the cv joints as it only takes a slight bit of wear for them to start knocking and most of the time its not till you get them stripped down that you'll see the movement in them 😉

750 to fix an electric window 😲😲 thats a bit of a joke, find youself a decent local garage and get them to do it probs for under half the price, also £1800 seems a bit cheap to be honest i've just seen one exactly the same age and colour on the bay thats accident damaged front and rear for £3500

Welcome, as mamba has said 500 is a bit steep to get the maf fault fixed and the car is definetly too good for the scrap man, try importcarparts for a new one or ebay for a good 2nd hand one and fit it yourself as its not a hard job if you know how to use a screwdriver, for the sake of 60-100 quid it would be a shame to get rid of it

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
stuartie replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Yeah i think i'll take the motor in to work and get the car guys to check it for me savage, the one time it did throw some coolant out the expansion tank was after i had been boosting down the road to get home one night however it has never done it since, would really like to get to the bottom of it before it gets any worse, oh and by the way i like the idea of getting advisories at mot time to get new shiney bits for the scoob and not get an earfull off the wife haha 😅😅 -
Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
stuartie replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Well borrowed the sniffer thingy from work and gave it a go yesterday, had the header tank cap off and let the car heat right up but it started overflowing a little so put the cap back on and tried it on the expansion bottle ( not sure if thats the right way to do it ) so will probs just take the car in to work and get one of the car boys to help me out, anyway it came back negative no colour change of the liquid so not sure where the little bit of coolant is going as checked all hoses and no evidence of any leaks what so ever, i even had a feel inside around where the heater matix is and all seems fine 🤔, its starting to annoy me a bit 😧 -

Lol of it were up to me i would have just put a big hole in the living room wall and parked the scoob in there, i tried to convince her the bucket seats would be just as good as the couch to sit and watch the tele 😂😎, but she wasn't having it though -

Haha me too but you have obviously not met my wife though she's the only person on this planet i'm scared of 😂😂, i have to admit i am liking our new super compfy corner couch and spinny chair but would probably like the extra boost and horse's just as much 👍👍 -
Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
stuartie replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Aye it still has the oe intercooler on i'm unsure if another later intercooler will fit or not and i'll look into getting an uprated map sensor should be able to pick one up off the bay, i currently have a 3 port boost solenoid fitted aswell as thats what was on when i bought the car 😉 -
I think the abs light has to be on for the diagnostics to give you a code, even when the light is on you should still have brakes just the abs won't be operational, you could buy a code reader off of ebay and plug it into the eobd plug when the warning lights are on and that should give you the codes and a internet search of the codes should tell you whats wrong, by the sounds of it you could have a sensor on the way out or an intermitant wiring fault

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
stuartie replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Yeah savage i have a set of yellow 440's sitting also a 3'' turbo back exhaust and an apexi air filter and when i serviced it a couple of months ago i put in heat range 7 plugs aswell, the plan was to get it mapped this summer but the wife decided we needed to do up the living room so the budget has went on that 😫😫, got to keep her happy and all that haha 😅, tbh i'll be happy with anything around 300hp or as much as is safe to run, don't really wanting it to eat gearboxes 😁😁 -
Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
stuartie replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I will do at the weekend savage i'm going to borrow the sniffer from work, i done a coolant flush a few months back as after i went a run it chucked a load of coolant out of the expansion bottle and while doing the flush i found the heater matrix was blocked so took the pipes off at the back of the engine and blasted it through with the garden hose and loads of s**t came out also loads of crap came out the rad when i flushed it through aswell, since then it hasn't threw anymore coolant out however i do get bubbles in the header tank itself which is making me think the worst and now every 400 miles or so i have to top it up as the level in the expansion tank drops to below the minimum mark and the header tank level also drops a little, like i say its just since i done the flush that its started using a little coolant, maybe the stuff i've used the flush the system had dislodged something -
Have you tried shopping around to get it cheaper i did see on the news the other morning that insurance prices have went up 12% in the last year 😦😦
