  1. I would think that its probably the coil thats at fault as that kind of coil in the pic is plugged in to the engine loom and the ignitor which provides the spark is built in to the top of the coilpack, its most likely to have cracked and is arcing out against the head and when you are disturbing it its maybe closing the crack until it vibrates and opens up again, you could always check all the wires going to that coil aswell as there's only 3 wires, hope you get to the bottom of ot and its not too expensive ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  2. Thanks for the offer of the plug mate ๐Ÿ‘ but the mapper is getting one and we just going to fit the sensor on the day and on that note he called me today and the ecu with the esl has arrived so booked in for a week on monday i can just about smell the vpower lol ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  3. Looking good squire bet you can't wait to get it back ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  4. Nice one mate glad to see its coming along ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  5. Thanks for the pics buddy, my next problem is finding a plug to fit i thought i had got one through the work but it didn't fit ๐Ÿ˜’, ive been speaking to a mapper near glasgow who seems to have a good rep and he going to get a plug and wire it in, i came across him by some old threads from a few years back on scoobynet when goolgling so had a wee look up for him and he an esl agent amongst other ecu's also, he seems to mostly do jap cars and is the mapper for some drift team and when i spoke to him he had just finished doing alot of cars for the banzai event, so anyway i'm just waiting for the board coming from esl then he going to give me a shout when its there and I'll be up and getting mapped, i can't wait as i'm really missing boost and burble especially with all this good weather ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  6. Welcome to the club ๐Ÿ‘, I've never seen one of those before so sorry i can't be of any help but hopefully someone will know, have you tried google translate to see if that tells you what she saying haha ๐Ÿ˜‚
  7. I agree with @Greenmamba about flushing the heater matrix and taking the rad out and flushing that aswell, when i bought my scoob one of the first things i done was flush the coolant system out as the coolant in the header tank was a rusty colour and when i stuck a hose on the matrix pipes the amount of s**t that came out was unreal and same with the rad, so i would try all of that before going down the headgasket route, also they are an absolute pita to bleed ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  8. Welcome to the club Dave ๐Ÿ‘, thats a tasty motor you have there really looks good in white ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  9. Ah makes sense that, i thought it was because theres not as many classics going around anymore but like you say bet he has some amount scrap turning up not that mine's is perfect but its been looked after ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  10. I got it off the bay mate and it was advertised as being from a 99 sti so that'll be v6 is it ? Here's a pic Like i say the sensor on the v1 has a triangular plug so just need to find out what wire goes to each of the pins so i can wire up a new plug ๐Ÿ‘
  11. How do people, i'm wondering if anyone knows how to wire in a uprated map sensor from a later classic on to my v1 wrx as the plugs are totally different mines is a triangular shape plug with a tail up to the map sensor whereas the later sensor has a thin rectangular plug straight on to it, i can wire in a new plug myself but just need to know what colour wires go where, cheers folks ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  12. Just found out off the man himself that he is no longer mapping early classics because he doesn't do esl anymore i think he's moved over to ecutek which is a bit annoying as he's only 30miles from me, so its back to searching for a decent mapper in scotland or north of englandshire , Newcastle or Carlisle would do if anyone has any suggestions ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  13. They may have done an ecu software update while it was in for service that could possibly change the dash info set-up, all the newer trucks at work are always having to go get ecu updates
  14. Looking good buddy, really nice job you've done ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  15. Could also be the steering angle sensor on its way out
  16. Nice work so far bud ๐Ÿ‘, to get the black trims off you have to take the window rubber off and there's a few screws hold it aswell as a couple of pop out clips ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

  19. Thats a bit of good news for you then matey but like you say you'll believe them when you have written confirmation, really hope it comes good and the motor is back on the road soon ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  20. Thats a bit **** poor matey, gutted for you, really hope you can get it all sorted out
  21. Its finished ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜, got the bonnet and other bits and bobs on today and gave it a little test down the street and back and everything seems ok Booked in for mot on Tuesday, then its a wait to get mapped, one of the lads at work is going to take me with the car on a trailer as dont want to drive it until the injectors and other mods have been mapped in
  22. I'll do the ecu reset today pal๐Ÿ‘ and i've fitted yellow 440's bit still have the oe slanty intercooler, will i be ok to give the car a wee run as long as i stay off boost? its just to make sure i dont have any issue's before i go see about the mapping
  23. Looking good bud ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  24. I'm nearly there now squire ๐Ÿ‘, couldn't get to it yesterday as the mother was round for a visit and decided to stay for dinner, she never comes to visit and on the one day i want to get finished off she appears ๐Ÿ˜ก haha, been back at it today after work and attached that earth wire and a vacuum pipe that i had forgot aswell and boom no more blown fuse's and had it ticking over for around half an hour while i went over it with a fine toothed comb checking for leaks, i'm glad to report its all looking good, when i went to switch it off the check engine light was on but not sure if thats a stored code from when it was running on Saturday without that vac pipe attached so will check the codes tomorrow evening. Must admit savage i'm getting a bit excited now but have to book in with andy forrest to get mapped now and he's normally around a month wait so will be another few weeks before i'm back out and about ๐Ÿ˜’
  25. Nice one mate ๐Ÿ‘, coming along nicely
