  1. Yes thats very strange why would you want to see it with no paintwork also are they going to strip the paint off if you ask for pictures, i am reading the description correctly arnt i it does say no paintwork
  2. She's out folks...... Now I'll get it to the workshop and potter around with it at my pleasure, going to order the gaket set at the end of the month and I'll also need to get a couple engine mounts as they fell to bits when i lifted the engine out
  3. Aye was already planning on giving icp.a call with the engine code, will look into these stopper gaskets thanks again for you're advice savage will keep the post updated on my progress 👍👍👊
  4. Cheers savage will post pics as i go along and yeah i remember about the pivot pin been told to use an 8mm bolt and a set of visegrips to remove it should have it out on sunday, by any chance do you know the thickness of the head gasket for a v1 wrx? As there's a few sizes out there 😉👍
  5. Welcome to the club ben, nice motor you have there 😉👍👍
  6. Well thats all the coolant drained and everything disconnected the engine now just sitting on the mounts, getting a loan of a foldable engine crane at the weekend so will have her hauled out on sunday 👍👍
  7. I would buy the fozzy back and get it back on the road if the damage isn't too bad, going down the leggy route may work but one of the biggest problems is converting it from diesel to petrol, then wiring looms/ecu's and i'm not sure because i've never worked on either of those cars but will the engine mounts etc be the same? 😉
  8. It sounds like theres moisture getting into you're car from somewhere and as the car is cooling down the condensation is collecting on the windows then freezing over, i would check all door seals and boot seal to see if anything getting through or it could be the pollen filter thats damp so when you have the heating on it'l draw the dampness through and into the cabin 😉
  9. Day one of engine removal between getting called out to fix broken down trucks, its went from this.... To like this..... Now just the coolant to drain and the rad out, disconnect power steering pipes and aircon then it'l be ready to lift out
  10. Can't help with you're trouble i'm afraid as have a classic and have never worked on the newer scoobs but i wouldn't worry about the metallic sludge on the sump plug as thats perfectly normal as long as there's no larger bits stuck to it, engines that are well worn in over 100k miles still get the fine pieces stuck to the plug, if you think about its all those metal parts flying round and round inside the engine at a million miles an hour you'll get some wear, hope you get to the bottom of the problem bud 👍
  11. Welcome to the club, i would try ebay or gumtree as theres quite alot of classics which run from 92-00 and bugeyes which i think are from 00-03 theres also pistonheads bit i find cars on there a bit pricey, just make sure you have someone with you who is mechanically savvy if you cant do it yourself and that it has history with proof of mods etc as theres alot of people who will just tell you anything also if you're buget can stretch to it get an sti as they have a stronger engine and gearbox which is also 6speed where as the wrx only came in 5speed, happy hunting 😉👍👍
  12. No problem buddy i would think subaru should be able to tell you with the vin also think a bodyshop should be able to match the paint with the vin aswell
  13. Welcome to the club, https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.automotivetouchup.com/paint-codes/subaru.htm&ved=0ahUKEwiOzvrqhoLXAhVFPFAKHf04B14QFggpMAI&usg=AOvVaw0Pmr1iSxKC2DbDJ0iKs5X1 Hope this helps with the paint code 👍
  14. Welcome to the club, if you are going to go for one on or after 06 i think it was then it'l have the 2.5ltr engine which has suffered from a few problems most notably ringland failure as subaru seemed to make the pistons from chocolate lol so really you would want to find a car that has had the engine forged which eliminates that problem and should see many miles of happy motoring plus it should make the engine capable of higher amounts of power which will be good for the track 😉
  15. Well i've decided that i'm going to pull the engine out over the winter and do the head gaskets as its still using a little coolant and theres no evidence of an external leak also the crank seals are a bit damp so will get them aswell, will steam clean the engine while its out so its all nice and shiney clean 😎 its doing my head in that its all dirty, getting a loan of a folding engine crane so i can get the engine in the back of the car and take it to work and i'll get it on the bench and do it in my limited spare time
  16. Welcome to the club bud, not sure of this is right or not https://goo.gl/images/nB9gai Oh and we like pics of said motor 😁😁
  17. Welcome along, i'm not the best with electrics but i would say you have all the parts you would need to do the job, i think you will have to run an ignition live to one side of the switch an earth and a live the other side of the switch going to you're lights also not sure about the laws in Argentina but here in the UK you are required to have a tell tale on the switch to show that the rear fog is on from inside the car, hope this helps a little 😉😎
  18. Sorry to hear about you're engine woes especially since you've only had the car 3weeks, i would service the engine before you get it in as the plugs will be easy to change whilst its out coz its a bit of a pain to say the least when the engines in place, can't help with the transporter side unfortunately but if you have AA cover or similar they should be able to get the car back to you, hope you get back on the road soon 👍👍
  19. My daily is a, 2008 Mondeo estate 193,500 miles( still going strong ) Been one of the most reliable cars i've ever had, not many issues the usual wear and tear parts and service every 12,000 miles, biggest part to go was dualmass flywheel at 155,000 miles which i think is not bad

You could try import car parts they are very good and if they don't list it on their website if you give them a call they may be able to get one for you and the prices are competitive
  21. Welcome to the club 👍
  22. Wecome to the club 👍
  23. Welcome to the club 👍, sorry to hear about the turbo issue though
  24. Sorry to hear about you're problems unfortunately the diesel boxer engines have suffered quite a few problems although i've never had a scoob diesel i have read that they suffer from crankshaft failure so that could be the reason for no compression and if thats the case you can get the crank replaced or it could be just as economical to get another engine dependant on cost of course ☺
  25. Welcome along, i dont think anyone has had a remap done on a non turbo as the gains are minimal for what it would cost although i may be wrong as i have no experience with the gx model, think you would be better upgrading the handling and weight saving to gain a little more performance 👍👍
