annoying hesitation and misfire
Maybe disconnect the battery for half hour and then go for a run that way the ecu should re set it's self. Good luck with fitting can be a right nightmare

Impreza WRX STI 2004 vs 06 buying advice please!
Hello & welcome, as for the impreza I'm sure one of our owners will be along to help out, have a look in the buying guide for things to look out for, Main differences between an 04 and an 06 car will be the running costs, more specifically 06 cars fall into the new high level tax bracket 450+ where as the 04 car will be 280ish I think, general running won't be much different, as for the two examples you've picked the 1st one would need a friendly mot tester to get it through each year due to having no cat. In some cases having modifications will bring the insurance down as the company sees that your an enthusiast and takes care and has put money into it and not a complete numpty, if you did decide to get one thats has had some stuff done ask to see receipts just dont take somones word for it that it has millions of horespower,

annoying hesitation and misfire
Hi mate as for reading the codes it's quite straight forward have a look at this http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/2366-manually-reading-ecu-codes/ the erratic idle could be one of many things, clogged up idle control valve, loose hose somewhere which would be letting sir out and affecting the mix, easiest thing would be to read the codes see what comes up, then with the engine running check all the hose clamps and vacuum lines for splits or leaks, esay way to do this is with a spray bottle of soapy water spray onto the hoses and any leaks will show them selves, the miss fire could be down to a leak but woul probibaly need a more indepth investagation if it's just been serviced

Pollen filter
Aorry to hear that, is the car just not running very well ? As for the filter I'd leave it in lace as feom what I've heard they are a pain to remove . 90% of impreza parts so might be worth cross referencing the codes

Pollen filter
Hello, Is it the one under the dash in passenger footwell ? I'm sure one of the newer owners will be along to help

Wheels in motion are really good, bit of a trek round the m25 for you but worth a visit if your not confident with local places. They have a hunter system there for alignment

Clutch Judder Cold Engine
I get it really bad when I set off my drive is at about 20% gradient once im up and at the top of the street it's gone away. I guess it's jut due to the clutch/diffs being stone cold it does feel like you've stalled it sometimes with the vibrations I wouldn't worry mate. Don't think a replacment clutch would help

The Forester Turbo
Gutted about the caliper still an excuse for the upgrade ! Good news about the discs and pads being the same, I thought they were and was half thinking about changing them myself but just dont have the time, cars in for a few other bits doing next month so for the costing difference in an hours labour I'm payong someone else. Are you on standard 16" rims ? Not sure the 4 pots will clear the wheels :'(

V5 classic breaking
Don't suppose you have the black plastic covers that hide the seat mounting points if that makes sense ? Need both drivers and passenger side please

Test Driving Impreza Diesel - What to look for?
Hello & welcome, theres a buying guide here http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/#entry45963 It mainly covers petrol cars so I'd just pick bits out that don't apply, there have been issues with the glowplugs on the diesels if you have a search on here or google it I'm sure it will bring some stuff up, looks like some owners are having them replaced under warranty and some are having trouble, I'd check to see if there has been anything done or in the history, unless it's a new car your looking at. We're all quite friendly on here so no need to worry feel free to join in and ask as many questions as you want :-D

abs!
Have you any cel lights come up even briefly ? May be worth checking the codes anyeay see if there are any historical ones. Have you checked brake fluid levels ? Or has there been any work done one the car recently ? I'd also check the abs fuse make sure it's not on it's last legs. As for the speedo needle i have no idea.

rear anti roll bar on a sport?
Thats quite worrying ! Theres plenty of them on ebay or import car parts will prob be able to get you new ones and all the associated items, I guess you'll need droplinks too

remap queries
Both nick & Ash have said good things about GR performance in Rotherham

rear anti roll bar on a sport?
Are you fitting a thicker bar ? Whiteline do the uprated brackets to accommodate the thicker bars. If it's only the next size up maybe just change the bushes to the correct size

New to Subaru but... i get it.
I'm not sure I suppose it's down to whoever has done the conversion, and with the digital display may be different as j'm sure the ecu stores that info ? I Have a document for the importing garage saying he conversion was done at xxx kms and the speed restriction was lifted but the odometer reading stayed at the kms value but now reads in miles. But it still doesn't make sense as the paper work doesn't work on the division by 1.6. All I have is a bit of electrical tape stuck over the K on the clock face so it just says HM now haha.

Yes mate, although it depends on what it was imported as, my v5 says s turbo but if I give anyone he vin or reg it comes up as a GL model due to turbos not being officially sold until 98/99 Bit of a pain but our engines are the same as the version 3/4 impreza so 90% of the parts are interchangeable which is handy, As for the slap I feel your paranoia :-D although you may find different brands of oil will make it quieter, mine tends to slap until it gets warm so on my daily commute it's a bit of a pain. Just wait until winter :-D The trubo maxes out at 280 so I unless he's put a bigger one on then I'd go on your assumption that the seller was a bit shady. My odometer saye 225k but in reality it's only about 135ish after the kph/mph conversion . As for the dip stick it's all or nothing, between the two holes is the official guide with the notch at the top being for thermal expansion. I've never had to put any oil in mine between changes.

Motor wise ej20g power output 240hp when new uses a td04 turbo. So everythings good for about 275-280 with supporting mods. It would need a new ecu to dp this as the 97-98 cars can't be reflashed :-( As long as you look after it and service every 6000 miles it should last ages, Standar car sits on 16" wheels and has about 7" ground clearance being an import I'd only run it on shell v power,
