  1. To be fair i like them. You need to be thinking outside the box when buying as people just assume subaru=impreza. Thats why i went for the foz. a little more practical and under the radar for 90% of people but still good in all weathers and fast :-D
  2. They have a couple at the local dealer had a good nosey round last time i was there, they do look good see a couple up near harrogate on my travels. That and a tribicea or what ever it's called.
  3. I've everything but, been hunting round in the man cave for ages best i've found is carb cleaner. Must have used the brake cleaner when changing the disks. Question, should i clean out the lines too ? I've a two port one on .
  4. Can you get a part number for the bulb ? I have a feeling that it's the same as this one. Used for the ignition ring light, bearing in this is a green bulb. Cost me 4 quid inc vat from dealer.
  5. Thankfully not i'd have expcted to see half the engine on the floor if it was haha :-D now showing a more sensible 0.8 on full boost
  6. Re attached rouge boost gauge wire now working again. Looking at xv wheels and wondering how much a set will cost :-(
  7. Can i use electrical contact cleaner to do this or will it not clear the sludge out ?
  8. It's on the list of things i'd like to do, (ever increasing) Seeing as you already have the bigger rims sorted your laughing !
  9. I think you'll rub on the rear struts.
  10. My brothers punto hg went (don't they all) He'd used steel seal to try an fix but it was too far past it.so i had head skimmed and rebuilt top end, but because so much !Removed! had made its way into the botom end he blew that up about a week later. So unless you tear the engine apart and clean all the oilways and give it a really good clean you can never be too sure. If something ends up in the hole that lubricates the bottom of the con rod bearing you've had it
  11. If the engine's out and if you have the funds i'd rebuild the bottom, they can also check for any damage that may have occured when the head went. Plus once you've don he lot if it's maintained right you could easily see another 100k on the engine
  12. Dropped misses in town picked her up 4hours later !Removed!. Drove to chippy and home before realising the boost gauge is showing 3.0bar constant. I think it may be duff :-( lol
  13. Don't take my word for it as i'm no expert but im sure others have had this problem. If you post in the gearbox/ drivetrain section somone with more knowledge will answer
  14. I think you'd have to change the shafts to accomodate the different diff. So if you are reverting to standard i presume you need to change the driveshafts back. There are a load being broken on ebay so you should be able to pick a pair up fairly cheap. I'd sell the sti diff and shafts to recover some costs
  15. That is a good way of looking at it and like you say what comes around goes around, anyway keep us posted with the rebuild see if they will get some pics while they are at it as it would be interesting to see.
  16. Don't hold me to this but i assume there will be an electrical connector on the reverse selector ? Have you had the gear surround off to have a peek ? It should just lift off with a gentle tug ( cant remember if there are two screws on either side if the transmission tunnel.
  17. :-( sorry to hear the bad news, have you mailed the seller ? I know it's not an excuse but we're not all bad and i understand why your vexed, Sound like you have a good mate who will buold you a superb engine all i can say is keep the faith and hopefully good news and things will come
  18. yep gambits right mines the same underpinnings as the classic impreza so 90% of bits fit. The strut just dropped in place. It looks like yours should accept newage bits i also double checked against the whiteline catalogue as they have foz struts listed and the part numbers are the same as the impreza ones. There seems to be newage 01-03 then 04-06 listed. I don't know what the difference would be though and there are two types listed too, are the intercoolers deeper on the different years ? Scooby world were a great help they cross referenced them while i was on the phone and i saved myself 60bits by buying one of there own brand instead of the whiteline ones :-)
  19. Thats why i was interested in seeing the larger wheels with the smaller profile some of them look odd but i think the black on black suits it well. Mmm clean stroked engine :-) much want
  20. may be worth giving these a try ww.gradea-subaru.co.uk or 01663744114
  21. should have given us a shout i'd have nipped up for a swift half
  22. They look good. Didn't know if the lower profile would look out of place.
  23. Haha a little closer to home, amsterdam :-D It wasn't to bad as i knew some people over there so had something to do. The rest of the lads flew out the following month
