Whats best turbo

Hey guys I'm wondering what's best turbo for my bug sti it's running 258 but want higher

i run 400hp and i use a 20g turbo. hope that helps

What's your target power , budget and have you already got any supporting mods ?

Do you want top end power or quick spool ?

Don't they run a VF35 stock? If so it's good for up to 340ish on its own.  Depends what power your hoping for though.  

VF35 would be the weapon of choice for me from a drivability pov anyway.

As above, need to define what you want or budget.

 

Sc42, fuel pump, injectors, front mount, syvecs will see 400 but prob be £4k if bought new. Second hand parts and map will be cheaper but need to find decent parts. Decat and Remap will see 330 but only be about £1500 give or take

if your keeping the car for a long period i would always get a new or refurbed (by a reputable place) as some turbos are shocking what people try to sell

aint that the truth. i know someone who got sold a second hand sc38 that was supposedly low miles and less than 6 months old. Considering that spec had been phased out 3 years prior suspect someone was telling some porky pies

i got a vf28 off eBay as a spare , won for sub 100 quid but looked pretty mint in the pics, said he got a sti v6 fresh import with 25k on the clock..... turbo arrived looked good but stunk of carb cleaner ! in the end i gave it to a mate who races them

I think the vf35 is fairly similar to the tdo5 16g anyways just newer . Garys 02 bug sti had a vf34 and made 330hp with a cone ,intake pipe ,3" downpipe and remap

Silly question but how do you identify which turbo is fitted to the car.

Matts guidance is almost correct follow most of what he said but look at the turbo itself - it is stamped / cast on the housing
