My insurance has gone up nearly £100 this year. I compared my renewal notice with a couple of comparison sites and it seems about right.

I've had a fun few days with Aplan canceling my policy a month after be taking it out after THEY screwed something up.

That was for first year on the scooby and first performance car and that come in at £1170. was planning on doing a few mods hence going with them.

I've taken out a new policy with Admiral for £911 mods and options declared. If your cars are lightly modified they may be a good shout.

Mine went up a whopping 40 quid... didn't really have time to shop around so just let it roll over... still pretty decent at £444 with the flux

I got a quote for £750 I think for the year (could be £900 can't remember) with Admiral with one or two mods, but nothing ridiculous. My wife is older than me, and has the no claims (15+ years). She's got a company car so I used her no claims to put me as main driver on my 06 STi. Also put her Mam down (who will never drive the car) on policy as it lowered the premium even more. Not too bad considering I've never driven a "performance car" in the UK and have 1 accident (my fault) back in 2013 (I think?). Plus I have 2 claims (£1000 each, 2017) in from my stepdaughter getting her car through my work vandalised which is annoying...

Haha yeah i did the same thing with my parents. They'll never drive my car in a million years. was £1200 with Admiral before that so i'm not complaining :D

I can sort of understand the performance car part especially as my previous car was well a 1.0 corsa xD Riding a bike for 5 years did help also.

I get screwed from being in south east and the lovely theft rate.

Insurance tax has gone up by about 2% I think taking it to 12% in total.

I just can't wait till i'm 25 get blacklisted from so many companies because of 5 months.....

@KilrathalIve still got a van mate and its commercial insurance so it cant be swapped to a car i wish it could ive got 11 yrs on vans lol

@DAN@ADRIAN FLUX

Il have a quote mate if u can beat what ive been offered il happily take yours mine doesnt run out for 3 weeks so no rush

I'm with First Alternative, they charged me £1000 for 12 months including a Cobra exhaust system. They go up per mod... so not great for someone who likes to tinker!

However they did beat all of my specialist quotes by a long shot.. so worth a punt!

Not a problem, if you wanted to drop me a PM with your email address and telephone number I'd be happy to arrange a quotation for you.

Regards

Dan

Bad news your £250 more mate

Not sure if it's just cuz I'm really old, good area, or I'm plain lucky.

My insurance isn't due for a while but I thought I'd get a quote just to keep up to date, I've heard a lot about it going up quite drastically.

Driving an unmodified  '14 sti, £100 voluntary and £195 compulsory... Screenshot of my emailed quotes.

Yeh it seems to be modifications that bump up the prices...

One day i hope to see £250! haha

  • 1 month later...

I'm paying nearly 2K! I'm only 22 with 3 years no claims though. If I purchased the car in 2015, my quote was £900 which I can't see the logic as it doesn't necessarily mean I have more experience with the car because I could have had it sorn for a year

Hi mate, I tried Flux which came back with a £1200 quote with waffley reasons as to why it was so high.  Then tried a price comparison website and managed to get 1st central at £450 with 2 drivers, fully comp, etc.  It is worth shopping around daily as policies do change.  Good luck with the search!!

  • 2 months later...

Went with Direct Line.

£324 fully comp, me & the Mrs, £500 total excess, doing 10k per year.

Not bad considering the rises of late. 😊

Just insured my missus on a 13 plate fiesta ST for £800ish a year. She's only had her full license a month. Only took her near on 6 years to finally take the practical. Passed first time and all that.

Called up flux for myself with the scoob. They quoted me 900 with a black box! I'm only paying 650 now with all details identical. Fell off my chair when I heard that.
