2007 STI Limited

In case folks aren't aware I have sold my Type R and hawk wagon and two weeks ago i picked up my new car. I wasn't gonna be without a subaru of course :D

So here's the new one. It's a 2007 WRX STI Limited. It's based on a eurospec Spec D STI but is 1 of only 25 RHD produced and imported into the UK.

UK spec D is a more subtle STI, same drive train, engine brakes and suspension but with front fogs, leather interior, silver wheels, no roof spoiler and low level spoiler (WRX spoiler), also only come in silver.

STI limited is closer to a spec D than normal STI, but it has black painted brembo's, later revision engine and gearbox, A line lip spoiler and S204 black centre console.

Car has 63k on it and i found out i know the old owner who has really looked after it so well chuffed.

It's already had a couple of mods, Remapped to 340bhp 370ftlb, perrin belt cover and back/rear window tints.

So far I've had a few things done, full detail and ceramic laqure applied, pedders suspension, Uprated drop links all round, rear anti roll bar, front castor kit (also acts as an anti lift kit) and braided brakes lines and a sony DAB headunit.

Not really planning to do huge amounts to this one but prob do a few cosmetic things like wheel refurb, maybe throw a few more dress up bits at it.

So bit of an update.

Been having issues with noisy and knocking suspension from the pedders on the rear end. Top mounts were found to be at fault so they were replaced. The new ones were even worse so a full set of rears were ordered and fitted. Problem still persisted so its been decided to replace them with a set of Tein Flex Z

http://www.tein.co.uk/product/flex_z.html

Have to say im pretty disappointed with the pedders and wont be recommending them to anyone.

I'll be there while they are fitted so i'll try to get some pics as they go in and then the final look of the car.

Surprising that tidgy as I’m that impressed with the pedders on alexas forester, I’m having them fitted to the blob.

I'm guessing its an issue with the widetrack fitment given they havn't been out that long.

Small update, new suspension is great. Quieter in general, doesn't knock and rides better (less crashy and less bouncy).

Car has now gone for for a fettle on the engine, pretty much same basic spec as my type R,

Closed deck converted block

ACL Bearings

Manley Rods

Mahle Pistons

ARP headstuds

perrin inlet pipe

And then comes 1000 miles of torture lol

Sell it for what? I think it's a great looking car... and let's be honest, regardless of what you would replace it with, the engine would get ripped out and worked on regardless!

Another small update,

engines now been stripped, condition wise it's pretty good, only issues found were worn valve guides and worn valve seats. Was also starting to show signs of getting ready for headgasket to fail, hadn't gone yet but wouldn't have been long.

Block is currently off at machine shop, i understand the closed decking is done and its now waiting for honing etc Time frame is still a couple of months as there's a que at the machine shop  and there's about 5 or 6 engines to be built in the que even when the block does come back.

Also decided to sack off the secondary air system while its out.

Isn't it quite common for these turbos to have a small crack next to the exit on the hot side?

you mean they don't come with it standard? lol

yeah very common, rare to find one that isn't. Prob going to reuse it as the crack is small.

Wasn't expecting much to happen for another couple of weeks due to not being first in build que, but poped up to clinic today to say hello to be greeted by this,

So looks like unless something crops up it should be back in the car and all the new bits bolted on and ready to pick up to run in in a couple of weeks 😄

So bit more of an update.

Slight delay due to what appears to be a faulty rod. Crank/rods were mock assembled to check tolerance and the rod bolts seized. Very strange as they have used the same method for hundreds of other rods and a replacement set for mine and no issues :S

So short blocks is ready to go 😄
