  1. i didn't think it would bother you Gambit, if anything i would expect you to be turn on by it lol
  2. i've just checked and you are indeed correct, tesco is the same as v power at 99 ron, i could have sworn it was 100, unless when optimax was 98 tesco did 99 i may have still been thinking tesco's was 1 more
  3. that's the puppy, was gonna try and find one this morning as i was on the tablet last night, but yeh, doesn't have to be an expensive one, as long as it's got the 16 pins OBD2 connection as that has, and is blue tooth compatible which that is, you are good to go
  4. do you have a dish washer? if you do try and clean the heads in there when they are off, they come up like new, you will need to give it at least 1 empty cycle when you've done, have you done a compression test on the heads? you may be able to get away with just fitting one gasket which will keep the costs down
  5. it depends if the bolts are stretch bolts or not, if they are you need to renew the bolts, i'd probably replace them anyway just to be on the safe side, other gaskets can be sealed with some gasket sealant rather than the gaskets, get some good quality sealant for the rockers and inlets, loctite 5699 grey sealant is what i have and is fantastic stuff, some exhaust assembly paste with do for the exhaust gaskets, that's all i can think of at the moment, when you take the heads off if there are some cracks where the plugs come through to the pistons don't be too worried about them, it's a common issue with them and they can cope with up to a centimetre and a half long cracks, usually there are 4 cracks per plug
  6. Just don't Google blue waffle on the images :O
  7. I could be wrong but as far as I'm aware it's only sport classics as they use a cable clutch the turbos have hydro clutch, the sport I just stripped had it fitted and it is connected with the clutch hence why it will work when your in the car pressing the clutch or car in gear but neutral and you out of the car is likely not activating it, Dogma fitted a new clutch on his sport not knowing what the extra parts were, he tightened up the nuts connected to it all and couldn't understand why his brakes stayed on till he read the manual
  8. A front mounted oil cooler looks cool in my opinion but you can run oil too cool which can cause it's own issues so I'd look into that a bit more, would it not be easier/cheaper to buy a turbo bonnet? UK turbos have steel bonnets so not as expensive as the ally ones
  9. Welcome aboard fella, sure I've posted somewhere in a thread by you, might be wrong, brains puddled these days, anywhoooo I used to live in Ashton and hathershaw in Oldham, now in Preston been here 12+ years, you ever been to the castle cafe in Rochdale, they make a breakfast challenge, you pay £15 if you don't finish it but you get the food free and £50.if.you do, it's on Facebook and as far as I'm aware only one guy has done it so far
  10. Welcome aboard pal, I was going to ask if it was a single coil pack on top of the engine or separate coils on each plug, failing that check the map, but, now you know what it is, I had the same issue when I got mine, found one on eBay, used but had a piper cross filter with it, £40 delivered, as long as the labels are the same colour it'll be fine, or should be, but as said I wouldn't drive too much with it unplugged
  11. Welcome fellow UK 2000 wagon owner, we will take over at this rate lol
  12. 100 ron is tescos finest, I don't have vids of it as I'm always in the car when it does it, the turbo and exhaust both have to be red hot, I can get small pops from the exhaust when it stationary, it's only a week or so ago my mate told me there was flamage, I always wondered why people backed off when it popped lol, if I get some time to do a few vids though the week I will do
  13. I got sent to anger management by the courts a few years ago, was a load of ****** imo, half way through the course I got into another skirmish that saw me before the judge just as the course was finishing, they weren't amused lol
  14. You can get switchable maps on some ecus, my mate has one v power and one for ethanol for the track, you could do one at 300 brake for just cruising and the other to 400+ for fun, I've noticed mine spits 3 foot flames when running v power but only foot long flames on normal fuel, I'm gonna try a tank of tests 100 ron next see what that does
  15. That's about 9.5 bar, what power are you going to be running, I've had a 4bar on a vr6 golf with a super charger running 350bhp at the wheels and that was more than enough, is it self regulating? You might wanna look into a fuel cut defender too, the standard map means it will cut power when it reaches more boost than it programmed for, an fcd will allow it to keep going, this can be dangerous for the engine if it goes too far so be careful of what your fitting and what settings you choose for the parts, I may be running high boost but I know not to be keeping at full boost for too long, that much boost for a sustained period would see a big boom from under the bonnet lol
  16. Does he have one of these?
  17. I have a tendency of chasing people when I get road rage, I've reversed down a motorway on 2 separate occasions, I've forced a van into the hard shoulder so I can get face to face with the driver lol, you'd just see me shooting off out of the convoy
  18. Horses for courses as they say, I have some cut down scaffold planks that I used to use to get the jack under some of my past cars, I now find them handy for putting axle stands and trolley jacks on to get the extra height
  19. Welcome aboard, there's no car as fun for the money as a subie
  20. My was having a play against a monaro the other day, said the guy was pushing the monaro and my mate was only on half boost, he went on the slip road so my mate put his foot down and lost sight of the monaro from the rear view in 3 seconds lol
  21. I've never heard of that happening, if that's the case then tell the seller to fill up the tank and if it turns off then the buyer will be interested, I'm 99 percent sure it won't go off without a code reader
  22. A bluetooth obd scanner, they can be found on ebay
  23. My radios have settings for voice recognition, I talk it sends, I just clip it on my shirt/coat
  24. Cars these days will go up to and beyond 200k with a well looked after engine, mines close to 160k and still going strong
  25. Most people have android or apple phones/tablets these days, you can get a bluetooth obd scanner and an app called torque from the relevant market for your phone, this will allow you to scan the codes on any obd 2 car, if you have an android device you can get an app called aptoide, it's free and when you open it you get another app store with all the same apps in but the ones you pay for in the play store are free via aproide
