Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Coming along nicely chap [emoji106] Here's a link to the newage coilpack conversion i used .https://www.jamessimpson.co.uk/classic-impreza-new-age-coil-pack-conversion/ Only change i did was too connect the earths higher up on the inlet manifold, To lessen the chance of them getting corrosion from moisture off the ground

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Na standard rods and pistons are good for 450hp (about the limit for scd) , so just had a light hone on the bores and new rings. Had the pistons cleaned though and they've measured up within standard spec tollerances [emoji41]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Postie came yesterday with a massive box from luke at icp [emoji106] then today i got a call from my engineer saying he's finished cleaning and checking the last few bits of the bug sti engine [emoji41] Looks like I'm gonna have plenty to do now [emoji4]

How much is my car worth
Ive seen bug wrx's go for as little as £1.2 k but also seen them up for £4.5k ish . Things like general condition, service history , mods , proof of mapping ect all change value . Good clean classics seem to be going up in value and they only bugs for a couple of years , so I'd imagine clean bugs will eventually do the same . If your thinking about selling and need a better idea of price? id have a look at what they're up for on ebay , AutoTrader ect . Admittedly i tried that the other day for my bug sti uk and couldn't find another clean 1 to compare it too [emoji849]

HELPPP!!! Wrx 1995 no boost and injector wiring issue
I did a newage coilpack conversion a while ago so I'm not 100% sure on the right colour . But i think its the lighter coloured engine loom coilpack plugs that go to the rear cylinder coilpacks on each side /bank . It's definitely same colour at the rear of the engine on both sides though

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Postie has been , guess I'd better hurry up and get everything run through pats hot wash 1 evening this week [emoji848] Mind you i could always start rebuilding the heads after dinner done tonight [emoji4] Not the best pic but there's pretty much every subaru gasket and seal needed to rebuild a ej207 , new headstuds ,new nitraded crank ,new rings , king racing bearings and cossie stopper headgaskets [emoji6]

Forester STI Japanese Import
Always had a soft spot for a foz sti , shame ive just bought a bug sti with slight crank rumble as a 2nd project scoob . Doubt id get away with owning 3 project scoobs [emoji849] A ball park price might help drum up some interest [emoji6]

Hi me and my JDM bug are new here

HELPPP!!! Wrx 1995 no boost and injector wiring issue
If its misfiring badly, intercooler or intake pipe not sealed , timing out ,wrong firing order or a few other things could cause limited boost . So I'd try to sort the rough running first , fella . I assume its a v2 with phase 1 inlet manifold set up , so it has a top entry turbo and seperate coilpacks per cylinder ? If so Have you plugged the coilpacks in the right way round , double checked the timing marks , all vac and intake pipework ect ? Any ecu codes ? The spark plugs might show you a specific cylinder at fault by being a different colour to the rest or wet with fuel /oil

Cambridge area Subaru garage recommended
Im in south suffolk but do everything myself so can't really help with a tried n tested subaru garage . A few scooby owners i know do use "tim farmer" who is a mobile subaru mechanic that is based in our area , unsure if he'd be able to stamp the service book but if all else fails give him a google

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
If it's your first time fitting a scooby lump ,Couple of pointers for the engine refit .... If you've removed the clutch (to remove the thrust race) , make sure it's aligned properly with a alignment tool . Cable tie the clutch fork so the clutch pivot pin is out of the way , otherwise it can engage the thrust race into the clutch before the engine and box are fully mated together. Jack the gearbox up to help align the engine and box . Search on here for coolant refill threads , as scoobs are renound for getting coolant air locks . Pull the crank sensor and let the engine turn over a few times to prime the oil pump and get the oil around the engine , before initial start up [emoji6]

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
I did find it hard to believe that a "scooby specialist " fitted all those new parts 800 miles ago to a knocky engine . Let alone fit a new clutch into a bellhousing that was covered in oil without investigating why and where it was leaking from [emoji849] I had only intended to clean the bellhousing but as usual i got a bit carried away [emoji850] mind you a clean bay not only looks better but makes it much eaiser to spot leaks or issues in the future . Your right there stu , i can't wait to get stuck in with the engine build , although I'm not looking forward to the 1,000 miles of no smiles (low boost running in period) [emoji53] I see your build is coming along nicely, engine back in at the weekend is it bud ?

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Finally Ordered the build bits this morning so once they're here and everything has been through the engineers hot wash again , i can hopefully crack on with building the engine [emoji41] Due to the rear crank seal failure the bay and gearbox bellhousing are quite oily , I'd been putting of cleaning everything for a while [emoji849]. But after a couple of hrs and nearly a bottle of machine cleaner , not only does the bay look a bit better, but the new clutch has got a much better chance of not being contaminated by all the oil [emoji6]

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Nice work , I'd love to be at this stage [emoji41] But what with my birthday, easter , far cry 5 and a dose of man flu i haven't done much "scooby" lately [emoji849]

Hi all! My suby and what mods to do next
Hi n welcome to s.o.c , nice looking blob you have there [emoji41] Unfortunately I'm more of a classic scooby modder, so can't really recommend a type of splitter or diffuser but ht auto's or abw do sell plenty of good fitment options . I did buy some epman wheelnuts with red caps covering the bolt holes and sent them back the next day . As the threads we're shockingly bad quality , in fact I'd say dam right dangerous. All due respect to the seller though as he refunded me for the repostage as well as the goods, just be cautious about buying cheap'ish wheel nuts [emoji6]

Best Coilovers For Classic STi
I used to run elbaich pro springs beforehand but it didn't sit quite low enough . I like the current MeisterR zeta r's on my v1 sti , being 32 way adjustable they seem ideal set at 26 rear 24 front . Only other coilovers I've had experience with on scoobs is tein streets , they had adjustable height but fixed damper . Far too harsh for road use imo . B.c's on the v7 sti admittedly i only drove it 30 miles but set at 20 front n back they were quite crashy in comparison. Think i paid just over £500 for the meisterR 's, including rear extenders and delivery but that was nearly 3yrs ago and i think they've gone up a bit in price now .

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Still haven't ordered the parts yet as im getting AS performance, icp and R.M performance to quote me and price match first . So I'm not too sure when I'll start just yet ,As i need to keep costs down but won't cut corners [emoji6] I'd originally planned to get it fitted and start the running in process by the end of April but as it gets closer to the warmer months i tend to get a higher work load and struggle to find spare scooby time [emoji53] Could always just turn my work phone off until may [emoji848] [emoji23]🤣 Thanks for the comments chaps , hopefully this thread will help familiarize members with the ej207 and give the new owner piece of mind seeing it's been built properly .

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
The avcs Heads have the usual visual crack between exhaust valve ports and spark plug hole . Although it's almost impossible to find a second hand set of avcs heads without cracks (very common issue) and the 3 other scooby engine builders ive spoken to , said they looked fine . I dont want to take any chances so i had my engineer pressure check , lightly mill the faces and recut all the valves in both heads . Which cost me a extra £300 on top of the normal face work [emoji849] but it's worth it for piece of mind for me . Looks like I'm starting to run outta excuses not to upset the wife and order all the rebuild parts [emoji4]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Yeah I've polished a few ally bits before , pretty time consuming to get good results [emoji53] My engineer is gonna blast the cam covers and i think i might just get a quote for cleaning up the block too [emoji4]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Trying to curb the urge to paint the bug's block before rebuilding it [emoji849] Just cos i like painted bays , it doesn't mean the next owner will [emoji848] It's still gotta go through the engineer's hot wash but ive spent about a hr on 1 casing halve and its not made a great deal of difference imo [emoji848]

Japshow Santa Pod 10th June 2018
I'll probably go to this to have a squint at the pods new 1/4 mile [emoji41] but i ain't gonna tempt fate and stick my name down for any show stands, at least until I've got the bug up n running [emoji849]

Hi everyone
Always nice to see a classic getting some tlc [emoji41] As jay said feel free to start a thread in the build section [emoji6] Are you going to give it a tidy up and go back to standard or modding it ?

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Seeing as the v1sti seems to be jealous of the bug taking up all the scooby time [emoji849] i bought her a couple of preface scoops for when i (eventually) get round to refreshing the paintwork [emoji4]

Starting the car and driving it right away?
Don't get me wrong , you don't want to be bouncing off the limiter [emoji4] but you'd probably be putting less stress on the engine, at under a 3rd throttle at 4.5k than 2/3rds throttle at 3k .[emoji6]
