I'm guessing you have checked the power steering fluid ? Just checking the obvious 1st :) Do you hear any sort of noise when it's at that point like a whining noise ? Just give your steering belt a once over too might be wearing out and I would try grease up all the joints on the rack. Could be that the steering rack is on it's way though :(

Maybe a little bit on the expensive side but you have the make an offer in there. the STI ones sell better there from a WRX but are the bucket seat design. I know Rollermite on here is after a set of seats might be worth having a chat with him :)
