  1. I don’t know about the new XV but mine came with Yokohama Geolanders, which whilst on the pricier side at around £120 a corner were very capable and lasted me 50k miles before needing a change. The geolanders are all season so you may find you dont need to change them straight away. anyway, this is mine, all dechromed from today, picked a caravan this morning.
  2. That’s it done it, got the road block home despite snow, ive and wind (not me, the weather). XV pulled fine, felt stable despite the size of the van and a 30 mph gust now and then. Even pulling into the storage facility it quite happily pulled it up hill through almost a foot of snow.
  3. Not quite as much snow as you but i did it witg a monkey on my back, picked up a caravan today with the XV
  4. I had a problem with mine like this, sometimes it wouldnt unlock at all, took it to Subaru who fixed it even out of warranty, suggesting it was a known fault, might be worth speaking to your dealer?
  5. Nice, again what colour? I have a 2013 in white diesel
  6. Been wondering how to protect my bumper from the inevitable tap on the tow hitch, not going to smack it but was concerned about scuffing paint, been trying ti think of a solution that didn’t ruin the look of the rear of the car. I think I found the solution, Helicopter Tape. Virtually invisible when directly behind, only tge edge shadows give it away.
  7. Aready got 6 holidays/weekends booked up, first on 17th March 😂
  8. Ours only weighs in at1325kg, but can load up to 1500kg so even maxed out its not too heavy
  9. 7’5” is standard width these days, we haven’t gone to an 8’ you’d need a bigger truck to tow that, it is 7.4m long though which should be fun 😳. delivery in 2 weeks!!
  10. Well I took my XV to a caravan manoeuvring course, as we get a caravan in 2 weeks and its been some years since ive towed, like riding a bike though, just as well really because our caravan is 1.5x the size of the training one 😳
  11. If get the dealer to provide confirmation in writing that the fix was completed, then if the look fails because tge fix isnt there you have some come back
  12. All subaru since at least 2012 come with a 3yr warranty bumper to bumper then a drivetrain warranty extension for another 2yrs making up the 5yrs. The warranty has a 100,000 mile cap. if the dealer told you 3yr 60k thats not what Subaru are selling with the car I’d challenge that. my wife had a 2012 a 2017 and I’ve got a 2013 all of these came with Subaru standard warranty of 5yrs/100,000 miles.
  13. Sorry, not heard of this before. Might have to be a dealer fix
  14. Don’t get me wrong, not in any way saying that the new XV is a bad car, it isn’t, it’s a very good car. But at £27k for the 2.0l that means there’s better cars out there for towing purposes, the 1.6 wouldn’t do it. i think if it was just a daily driver with off-road capability it’d be fine, but for towing you need the low end torque of a diesel. the dealer was trying to sell me one ad whilst I like the look of the new XV I do prefer the styling of the current model I have. with the annual mileage that I do (circ 8k pa) and the cost of changing to a new car, it makes more sense for me to run my current car into the ground, which I think is what up will do to be fair. They’ve stepped the XV up a level basically to compete with the more luxury market. It has a lot more toys on it compared to the current XV, hence the price. I’m surprised there’s no hybrid option though, most manufacturers have a hybrid option theses days. hope you like your new car, please pop a review up when you have had it for a bit.
  15. There won’t be any diesels of them soon, plus they’re too thirsty for the big engine
  16. I’m keeping my diesel until they come up with downing suitable for towing a caravan, can’t see my pulling my van up the M6 with a 1.4 hybrid?? So my 2.0d is hanging around for a few more years yet
  17. No, Subaru have stated on their website that there is only the 1.6 and 2.0 petrol, currently they’re struggling to shift diesels since the government have said that they’re dirty, polluting monsters that should be banned. There’s a lot of specialists pointing out that per mile most modern diesel cars are less polluting than most petrols. But now we’re in a position where they’re going to be classified as polluting and therefore no one now wants them. If you want to tow, you’re now on to a £26k 2.0 petrol XV.
  18. But don’t go rushing yet, there’s some things you need to know! you can only buy petrol versions 1.6 & 2.0 Normally aspirated so the new 2.0 petrol is over A second slower than the diesel and into double figures, the 1.6 is around 13 seconds you can ONLY get Lineartronic gearboxes and if you want the base model 1.6 (and you’re going to need to be sitting down for this) you’re going to have to fork out £25k!! Yes you did read that right! on the up side, it has a lot more toys, it has the same hill descent system as the forester, adaptive lights, lane warnings etc. Theyve also tightened the suspension. But £25k, no way I’m chopping in my 2013 diesel that does 0-60 in 9 seconds, has a manual gearbox and quite frankly I love. That and I’m getting a caravan so not going to be pulling it with a 1.6 and there’s much better cars out there for £27k if you want the 2.0l. i think Subaru have missed the mark here, they’ve jumped up £4-5k and given very little in return. shame really
  19. Not sure if that works for me to be fair?
  20. Sorry, can’t help I get in fine with the camera.
  21. That sounds a bit poor, hope you’ve “had a chat” with the dealership?
  22. I’m still realling from this because it’s a first, I’ve jus seen an advert on TV featuring the XV, Subaru are sponsoring National Geographic!! Subaru advertising? Seriously, when did that ever happen?
  23. Yeah, I don’t know why they do it but they just do, any dehumidifier seems to do the trick, even a bowl of salt would do, but those are obviously easier. Glad it worked ok 👍
  24. I think I’d be having a moan at Evans Halshaw as they will have invalidated your anti-perforation warranty most likely.
  25. The trouble I had with the dealers over aircon, it’s because the gas is so expensive, no one wants to regas it unless Subaru will cough up for it. Both our cars had a leak in the same place on the condenser radiator. They did a negative pressure leak test on a positive pressure system on our car so they lost 2 lots of gas.
