  1. It shouldn't matter if its a £1k car or £15k you should still be given respect and service. I hate it when you've spent time going to a shop (and your case even booked a appointment) and then whoever phones up from their sofa gets the attention of the attendant, wheres that rant thread again As I said in the other thread. I've not had a huge amount of contact with him. He did answer my calls promptly and answer all my questions in a friendly manner - perhaps when you were there in person I'm not sure how Hurst are post sales. I think I'd ask who has had a problem post sales and how was it dealt with.
  2. Dempsey, So are you referring to Hurst when you are talking about the bug guy not interested in selling? Quite surprising to hear that if it is. From what I've heard about them they are usually really good. Perhaps you caught him in a funny mood or you gave the impression you were "yet another tire kicker"...not implying anything mate just trying to reason it away
  3. All the searching I did they seem to have a good rep. I saw they had a car I wanted but by the time I called they Hey had sold. Looks like a Hurst photo in your AVatar
  4. Yea when I was looking for mine I resigned myself to booking a cheap hotel and doing Wales and Birmingham area one weekend. I found one 75 miles away in the end. Worth bearing in mind it's a slow time of year....thing could pick up mid Jan [emoji3]
  5. P.S. I think I've read a thread about your car already. Stunning!
  6. My mate is in Essex with a highly modified Nissan Skyline. He's got a fully de-catted exhaust. I can ask him tomorrow where he goes if you like, I think he is around Southend on Sea....so may be too far?
  7. The other to go for is an AA check...not as good as a Scoobie specialist but should give you piece of mind...especially if you don't have money to sort anything major :) Let us know how you get on :D
  8. You are perfectly right on that...I moved with my company to India for 20 months...I came back and gave them my previous 20 month old NCD letter and carried on with it.
  9. The only guy I use is Dan at Surrey Subaru Specialists. He's in Camberley which looks about 1.5hr drive from Bedford. You could always give him a call and see what he says. http://www.surreysubaruspecialists.com/contact-us/ He's a great guy and expert at his job. I do a 100 mile round trip to get my car serviced by him. Insurance. Not sure I understand, So you don't have a full year NCD yet so they won't give you proof of anything? If you have a year they should give you proof of it which you can give you your next company.
  10. I don't think you lose your NCD over night mate....I left the country for two years and still used mine when I came back ;)
  11. If you really like the car, it seems good for the money and it's got a nice documented history (???) then I'd go for it...but I'd do it thinking I'm buying privately and assuming I'd get no after sales support at all. There are companies like that out there...I'm always reading about Cheshire cars. You could pay someone to check it over for you? Scooby specialist would be good but if not AA?
  12. Very nice. Almost tempted myself.
  13. I wasn't intending to pass you off...I just wanted to point out you shouldn't just listen to any old muppet (me) on the internet you should ask the expert mappers :) I don't want to be held responsible ;)
  14. The WRX-S will still only have a tweaked map that was the same on all the mass produced WRX-S's ( One that needs to cope with all conditions and types of fuel ). So I'd expect a remap specific to your car to bring out the best in it. I don't have any experience of remapping a WRX-S...it's just I can't believe you can't make more BHP than my 2ltr car :) Also, not sure how safe it is to tinker with a 2.5 either with all the stories I've read of standard cars giving up the ghost after 30k miles
  15. That's good to hear. He remapped my car a few weeks ago and he looked shattered
  16. I wouldn't worry mate Duncan is solid...he's working crazy hours at the moment covering Simons clients (RIP).
  17. Yea I kept a grand back just in case! Was the history good on the bug?
  18. Out of interest how much was the blob mate? First bloke needs a slap [emoji19]
  19. Yea, and mapped to VPower too if you use that. Just can't believe a 2ltr will make more than a 2.5
  20. That's true but does help engine breath especially if you're going for a remap.
  21. I have a 2.0 blob. I replaced with Pipercross filter and just replaced the back box (to get more noise) and a remap got from standard 225 to 272. Quite surprised you think you won't make more with a filter and remap
  22. Duplicate
  23. Good luck mate. Just don't think you HAVE to buy one of them...don't let you heart rule your head [emoji4] If neither goods or feels right there's loads more out there [emoji6]
  24. the only one with the WRX bits from them is £115 (inc p&p) :( Seems quite a lot for something I'm not really sure about still ;)
  25. Yea power wise much the same. Around 260 bhp I think for WRX PPP Just about everything is the same I believe, certainly looks the same inside. I wouldn't value PPP too much though. A upgraded airfilter and back box + remap will get a WRX to around 270...and that's on a dyno as opposed to a brochure guessed figure for PPP.
