  1. Not sure what the shadowed chrome look looks like. Got any pics?
  2. Doh sorry replied thinking I was on the surrey forum lol...won't be helpful for 99% of people on here.
  3. Remember Marks mate Joe in Redhill. He has a car lift he's happy for people to use for £10. I did the underside of my car round his...although that was using Waxoil paint and not the guely spray...I didn't want to take the pee and ruin his floor lol
  4. No you shouldn't mate...middle aged is 40 [emoji6]
  5. The v5 doc will tell you it's a WRX too. Just hit 3,500 rpm and if you don't get a big grin on your face then it's NA. There are loads of differences but you can change suspension, bonnet, badges etc
  6. Well I don't think £1k is alot so upgrade fuel pump, air filter and a remap [emoji16]
  7. Good luck mate. Speedy recovery
  8. I think that approach is great. Me personally I wouldn't bother pimping it out and save that money for your next car but your choice. Your insurance company might not like you dressing it up like a WRX as it would make it more desirable. Have you got some quotes yet? Worth getting some via go compare or one of the other aggregators before you start looking (unless you're loaded)
  9. How old are you mate? I'd wonder whether it's worth spending all the money pimping or worth you waiting a few years and buying the real thing. I've met a number of under 25's with WRXs
  10. Yea that's what Jay was saying...pimp it out like its a WRX [emoji4] looks good, just don't try and race anyone [emoji16]
  11. I've too often read an advert then been really disappointed when I've gone to see a car. Looks nice. I do like the green and gold. No mention of service history or any recent work done...those would be my first questions on the phone before making the trip
  12. All the turbos are fast. The new age (bug/blob) are more refined to drive. STI are a better base for performance tuning if that's what you are after. They will be more to service, insure Etc too. With the classics you do need to watch out for rust. Insurance will depend on post code, mileage, the excess your willing to accept etc. why don't you type your details into go compare and see what you get back.
  13. cool. Did you ask how he came about it and what he's intending to do with it?
  14. Oh no mate. I was talking about detango, so removing the Orange and if you want black them a bit so they look more modern and moody. I didn't black mine but this is what I mean....
  15. [emoji3] One thing I'd say about headlights is make sure you use sealant when you close them back up, the guides just say reheat the old sealant but that didn't do it for me and I ended up with condensation when I cleaned the car. So I had to take it apart again, dry it out and reseal it properly
  16. http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine-modifications/155295-how-air-box-silencer-delete.html I have ones to detango headlights and also unsqueek seat belts if those are of interest
  17. I'll dig out a link to the instructions I used. No cutting needed so u can put it back.
  18. No I didn't notice any performance loss at all. If you start looking into DVs you'll find views that it reduces power, damages engines or does nothing but make a nice sound. I've also read people returning to an OEM recirc and saying they have noticed a performance gain. My conclusion was that it wouldn't help me with what I wanted to get out of the car so I would spend my money on the other stuff for now. It's one of those sensitive subjects like religion or politics!
  19. don't know what the hell is going wrong with my post... :o
  20. Hi Mate and welcome. I'm in a similar position to you. Mrs isn't really into the kind of cars I like. I'm also travelling 100 miles a day round the m25, so I dont want a spine shattering ear slitting car. I bought a standard 2004 WRX and have been tweaking with the above in mind. So far I have, 1. Replaced the backbox peashooter exhaust with a WR Sport exhaust. It's made by ProDrive and it was an optional extra when the car was originally sold. This has given it the nice Scoobie burble. Sounds great but isn't extremely loud like some of the other exhausts.I did fit some sound deadening in the boot and rear wheel arches to deaden some of the exhaust sound as it was getting to me in traffic. Would have been fine if it was a weekend car or I just drove 1hr a day. 2. Did a snorkel delete. Snorkel sits in the drivers wing and redirects the air to quieten it down before feeding the air intake. Took me about 20 mins to do, was a free mod and gives a nice sound under heavy acceleration. 3. Fitted a upgraded Fuel pump. My Scoobie specialist mechanic recommended this to help wit the remap. 4. Replace standard panel air filter with a pipercross. My Scoobie specialist mechanic recommended this too to help wit the remap. I will get it remapped soon. I'm not after a huge amount more power. Just want to better utilise the VPower I'm sticking in it, bit more mid range and faster pickup. In my view: I don't think there is much point fitting an induction kit unless you want big big power. I also don't think there is a point in fitting the DV unless you like the noise and it's not going to annoy the mrs. I do like the sound but I drove one car where it just really annoyed the hell out of me, it was really loud (on 100% vent?) and went off every gear change. Regards Justin
  21. Congrats mate. What colour? And pics? :)
  22. Have you tried Matty at MBDevelopments? He's a scooby breakers. Very helpful fella. He's in the trade section of Scoobynet I do like the dark blue [emoji3]
  23. I have auto updates on so I know I have the latest. I've left mine plugged in, it must need a very low charge. I've had it constantly plugged in for a few months. I think the longest I had the car out the front was three days without using it and I've not had a problem so far with the battery. I can get a signal from it when I'm sat in my front room. Has anyone got the Avg mpg and oil working,
  24. I bought the sane reader without fast delivery [emoji16] I've been using DashCmd. It's pretty good. You can configure dashboards etc. Im a bit disappointed avg MPG is out and I can't get the oil gauge to work. Perhaps I need to refine the settings.
  25. I feel for you mate. My back went a few years ago and I've never been in so much pain and discomfort. Hope you feel better soon
