  1. Things that bump up insurance..., Age Lack of years driving. Pass at 38 and first two years will be very expensive. Accident and conviction history High theft area Different insurance companies specialise in different areas. Some steer clear of younger drivers and/or modified cars so pick on of those and they'll just give you a crazy price. A company good for your old man is quite likely not good for you. My insurance is £220 including breakdown and legal but I know the co I use hates anyone under 30. If you have a few of those then cost is going to rocket. Along with the site sponsors you could just bang you details into a comparison site like go compare to see what prices come back.

I'm with you in that one David. I never drop in the red. Plus I do 100 miles a day so would be filling up all the time if I just put 20 in
  3. I 'followed' a Jag XFR-Sport this evening. I couldnt stop laughing as he couldn't get away from me and eventually pulled over to let me past.... £80k and he couldn't get away from my £4k WRX :D now that was the most fun I've had out of the bedroom/kitchen/hall/bathroom/toilet at work for a long time.
  4. I had cheap Chinese tires on my car when I bought it and had same problem as op. Four wheel slide doing 10mph on a slightly damp road! I used even tyres. The web site has all the official ratings for wet, economy and noise. The Chinese tires I had were on there and were around 8dbs louder that the tires I picked. http://www.event-tyres.co.uk I have Goodyear F1s. I chose them for their wet and DB rating. I think they are great and I've not had one scary moment in the 4 months I've had them now and the 4,000 miles I've done. Imprezas are quite noisy cars and I do still have a fair bit of road noise - better than before. Perhaps I need to use that sound proof paint on my arches or something. I wanted to try Vredesteins (can't remember the model name everyone was raving about) but they didn't do a 215 if I remember in the raved about model.
  5. Ah a bug eye. Nice. No mention of service history. I'd want FSH. Also looking at the wheels and spoiler that's been added I would be interested to see what else has been messed with especially engine wise. High miles, no service history and buggered about with engine Id run a mile [emoji4] Also, when I was looking I found it really tricky to tell condition by pictures and frequently was disappointed with the paper work or condition of the car. So expect to find a shed and if it's not you'll be pleasantly surprised [emoji3]
  6. £3.5k should buy a pretty clean Blob with FSH and 80-100k miles privately. I'd go for as standard as possible. You'd probably be able to get a better nick slightly older bugeye with less miles. Or a very good classic.
  7. Have you come across Cheddar with your Xmas cake? That's my wife's northern family for you...they were all confused when I told them that just ain't normal!P.S. Suffolk and Norfolk are north aren't they [emoji39][emoji57]
  8. I spent 6.5hrs on the M1 and M25 today....numbing [emoji45] One 5 mile tail back was because an E-Type had broken down in the hard shoulder and everyone was slowing down to have a look ffs
  9. That's a great link [emoji3] It doesn't have to be a classic...but I don't want a bug or a 2.5 for the obvious reasons [emoji16] I like the Type 25 spec!
  10. My WRX hasn't got folding mirrors and rear wiper and tbh I don't miss them :) I would miss not having a stereo with USB or a turbo :D Budget isn't fixed, between 8 and 15 but I would go above that for the right car. I just don't want to buy something so special I'm paranoid about taking it out (22b)
  11. Yea minefield lol Don't think I want a RA...been 30 years since I manually wound a window [emoji39]
  12. Ah yea lol..,it's was quite tricky finding a virgin WRX. Still I'll be in no rush so could spend an age searching [emoji4] What's the diff between RA and R? And what is the diff between those and a standard STI?
  13. no probs. I've been considering putting a STI spoiler on my car and fitting blue UK300 carpets, seats etc Thats very handy especially with as you have a scoob...sure you'll keep him busy knocking out the usual dents and repairing stone chips lol
  14. That's annoying. Out of interest these guys have had a fair bit of UK300 bits and bobs....didnt see any spoilers last time I plodded through the site but might be worth having a chat to them if you're still interested in getting one... http://www.japperformanceparts.co.uk
  15. Pete I think auto correct stuffed up your suggestion. Spec C? What's so special about them?
  16. Did you take the wife's car in on Saturday? If so what was the result?
  17. Did you take the wife's car in on Saturday? If so what was the result?
  18. That's erie...I watched that film last night!
  19. Welcome mate...they're mostly blue lol...the challenge is spotting a different colour [emoji39]
  20. I'm doing 100 miles a day with work at the moment. I didnt want to buy a car and lose a lot of money due to depreciation and I also wanted something comfy for doing those sort of miles so I went with a standard blob WRX. I pleased with my choice and am really enjoying Scoobie ownership again. My mind has started to wonder towards the end of the year when I won't be doing the miles and therefore could get something a little rarer and a bit more interesting. I've only ever owned newage but I've always loved the classic shape. I'm thinking perhaps I should go for a P1 or RB5. I love the P1 shape and colour and always remember the Top Gear Tiff review :D Is there anything else I should consider? Type R or RA? I'm not really feeling the love for an import but should I? I've counted out a 22b just because of the purchase price for a good one and the fact that I'd feel guilty driving it!
  21. The names, bug, blob and hawk are nick names to describe the headlights. Yours are round and look like a bug eye...a fly or something. Mine are..err...well blobby. Bug Blob Hawk
  22. I believe the only differences between Saloon and wagon is the rear of the car. So Engine, bonnet, doors etc are all the same. GX just doesn't have the scoop. So yours will be a sheep in wolfs clothing lol. I'd recommend Matty. He's a breaker who ships. You could give him a call and tell him you have a bug wagon in 01g silver (by the look of it?) and ask him what he's got. He's shipped a few things for me in the past (I am in Surrey too). Heres a blob he has. I don't think this will fit yours but you can see the prices and the kind of thing he does. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/full-cars-breaking-for-spares-438/1009295-blobeye-04-sti-breaking-01g-silver-brembos-6speed-sti-styling-and-interior-more.html MB developments Unit 3 Addenbrook street Darlaston Ws10 8hj call or tx for quicker reply 07785942237 p.s. 23. Congrats mate. I had a GX a few years ago. Great car. Tricky one that mate. You could go buying K&N panel filter and do a remap but don't think it would be worth it in my opinion. You'll get into lots of money for little gain. Think I'd focus on lightening the car, try a higher octane like v power and improving the ride and stopping so you can go faster round the corners. GX has 16" wheels if I remember - you could get 2nd hand 17's. Also change the GX bonnet for a standard WRX/STI Alloy one.
