  4. great post - I didnt think the sound was that ott - now you have sorted the scuffing try it with the same box but take a replacement in the boot just in case next time - easy enough to change over in the pits ;)
  5. Wotcha and welcome
  6. Jay762 replied to quit's topic in Junk Room
very good - like it :D
  7. oh yes very tedious - particularly as the the horizon still comes flying towards you at the same speed :D
  8. lovely motors - keep em coming ;)
  9. Good luck with the sale Luca - they will definitely help with under bonnet temperatures
  10. The prodrive kit tends to be an air filter remap and sports back box - it can also include an uprated fuel pump - the turbo would be untouched as part of that kit http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/product/Impreza_WRX_2.0_2001-2002_Performance_Pack_SACC2523 I would say you have a TD04 on at the moment - Gambit et al will probably be along shortly to confirm that. When you say upgrade your turbo what are you looking for as you can get an equivalent size but better quality turbo with lower resistance internals which will reduce spool up time or are you going for more power - if so there may be other options you could consider before bolting on a bigger turbo in isolation.
  11. good upgrade - would make a nice how to thread - hint hint ;)
  12. Really sorry to hear you did end up with HG failure - Would be good to put some business this chaps way so if he would like to join the forum or have some contact details in a separate thread more than happy to make that happen
  13. No problem - ask away we wont necessarily have relevant answers but there is always random mutterings instead ;) As we dont know the history or how it was set up being modified from standard the 1.5bar could right... The larger turbo and extra plumbing of the FMIC could impact the spool up time which will give longer lag but a bigger punch when it comes in. I would suggest a good service - plugs, oil and filter, check the air filter and brake pads & discs then you have a known starting point - I would then suggest a rolling road session to see what the current performance of the car is - not for power but to see what is working and where there needs to be focus. for instance your injectors could need cleaning, petrol pump needs replacing etc first thing though - you could share some photos - feel free to set up a new thread in the impreza section for your vehicle ;)
  14. Wotcha and welcome - must admit that is a new one on me - sorry
  15. Wotcha and welcome
  16. Wotcha and welcome - and if you have any photos to share it would be great to see your motor :)
  17. Wotcha and welcome
  18. looking good!!
  19. Wotcha and welcome - echo TLag - without pictures it isnt true :D you could get a full stainless system from these people http://www.haywardandscott.com/subaru/legacy.html http://www.longlife.co.uk/stainless-steel-exhausts/ http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/
  20. I would go for the bailey - they wont do any damage but some cars don't like dump valves so dont run as well. The HKS looks like it needs a good service anyway so that would mean more money - also I cannot tell from the pictures if it is genuine or not so I would avoid
  21. n not necessarily - you can replace the cat with a sports cat which will improve performance over standard - the prodrive pack exhaust part will just be the back box. for sound only go for cat back with the exhaust you are looking at in the link there will be less sound deadening than the prodrive. As you have the turbo anything after it in the exhaust is all about emissions and noise level (NA cars are more sensitive to bore, length and bends in the pipe).
  22. so wrt the dump valves you tube is your friend as people have clips of the sound they make eg you should not lose performance dependant on the pipe you replace it with - so if you went for a standard impreza pipe that would be more restrictive than the prodrive option but by removing the cat and fitting an equal bore pipe you should gain as the restriction from the cat is no longer there and if you go for something like the afterburner extreme that has no back box either so there is no restriction at all to gas flow http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_53&products_id=1480 A cat back pipe of equal bore size should give you at least the same performance as you have now
  23. great to hear you are on the way to fixing it :)
  24. nice one - very jealous, looking forward to the photos!!!
