  1. is the car totally standard as it sounds like the temp circuit has been shorted, I wonder if the loom has been caught somewhere
  2. Wotcha and welcome - not heard of a RWD switch - there is a switch (DCCD) that changes the drive ratio from 70 / 30 through to 50 / 50 power distribution and subaru diffs can clunk that motor looks sweet though lets us know how you get on with it
  3. would this help? http://subaru.co.uk/dealer-locator/
  4. Wotcha and welcome - sorry, not had any experience with that particular model however I would go back to the dealer and ask for a test drive in the original to do back to back comparisons then point out to the staff how you think they differ
  5. what happens if you disconnect the temp sensor? ps sorry being called away - will have to pick this up later or maybe someone else will join in - just didnt want you to feel abandoned in middle of conversation
  6. That is smart - gotta love fast Datsuns :D
  7. looks like a great investment then :)
  8. Wotcha and welcome Matt - great motor glad you are enjoying it, they do make you smile don't they - I'm sure someone will be along with the answers to your questions - I believe the pill answer is on the forum somewhere already if I recall...
  9. Wotcha and welcome - I dont have a wiring diagram but have you checked the coolant levels?
  10. that is pretty low - your cornering should be on rails now
  11. check the others - scoobies are lumpy on idle anyway but if this is something you are not familiar with its looking like something different, I believe the compression test is a red herring in itself unless something else has been disturbed putting the tool in place and removal etc. Try disconnecting the maf as its an easy check although as you have changed it recently it is probably not the cause. when doing the compression test all valves - throttle etc should be open to get the air in when cranking the engine - has anything been disconnected in order to make that happen?
  12. no thats fair enough I would have done the same - you havent had problems with you MAF sensor before have you?
  13. ok - smell of fuel could mean its running rich for some reason - are there any codes logged on the ecu - thinking possibly duff sensor
  14. to be fair I am easily pleased though chum :D
  15. thats what I like to see - passengers hanging on :D great shots!!
  16. are all four cylinders firing?
  17. result!!
  18. the more it wears the more movement / vibration you get travelling down the drive shaft this then causes wear on the other bearings but as it was a whine only not progressed to vibration or knocking you should be fine
  19. Jay762 replied to quit's topic in Junk Room
    proper result that !!
  20. thats a clean looking motor Dave - good luck with the sale
  21. great to hear :)
  22. keep us posted as to progress ;)
