New Member. UK STI Prodrive (dump valve/exhaust)
Wotcha and welcome awesome car, I would suggest a HKS dump valve as you can have a few different options for sound produced (watch out for copies though) http://www.scoobyparts.com/acatalog/Dump_Valves.html check out these exhaust options and removing the cat should get you more db's http://www.scoobyparts.com/acatalog/New_Age__01-07__-t.html http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_156

Why can't I see certain parts of forum
No it should only be mods and boxed section that you have restricted access to - we have had issues like this before 1st questions asked are, what browser are you using and are you logged in?

Manual boost controller
Wotcha and welcome - by doing this you may well be hiding a real issue - I would find out if it is the 3 port at fault first

what is better?
agree with TLag - stick with 95 ron and go for the filter... and then an exhaust, and then a new fuel pump and then injectors and then a bigger turbo and then a remap and theeeeen you go for the V power :D dont forget the photos ;)

Engine model?
I only ever heard that in relation to Lancia Delta Integrale engines - I would get a second opinion.

'12 STI/Cosworth running costs
Ringland failure is what happens to the piston due to use of rubbish fuel and or lots of high revs on the original subaru map (I believe it ran too lean at the top end in No. 4 pot) scroll down to Salsas post on the first page for a picture of the piston failure, obviously if not addressed this leads to burnt oil, bore scoring etc http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/4804-what-fuel-do-you-put-in/

You have an after market brake master cylinder support fitted so it may have to be routed around that the connectors themselves are push fit with the key on the top of the male connector fitting into the hole of the female connector

Tappets?
Hi Mel, any chance you could do a video and post it as that may help with the diagnosis. is the noise constant or does it change with the revs, does it change when the car warms up? Has this just happened or has it got progressively worse over time?

'12 STI/Cosworth running costs
I had no problems - however mine was not a Cosworth, there was a member on here from IoM who had a Cosworth and it was having issues - last we heard it was going back to the dealer for inspection - haven't had an update for some time now. fuel economy is going to be similar to your own but I would get a professional rolling road and map session done just to ensure no ringland issues will occur. Given the chance I would own a Cosworth hatch -
