To restore or not to restore
Big concern is how its stored, remember a guy who stored his car for 3 years and left it without proper coolant in it, 3 winters later goes on dyno for mapping, heater matrix is ruptured (not a cheap or easy job) which pee's water all over the interior, that's fixed and then found the headgasket has gone due to the ice splinting pipes lifting the heads. Forresters are hardy beasts, but not gonna be cheap to get back on the road at all, gonna need a full service, prob a set of tyres at least which wont give you much change from £1500. Add in other rubber items that don;t like being stood and its asking for trouble. Can't see it being viable myself

coilover suspension
Alot of folks vary on this and 99% of it is opinion, personally i think BC is cheap tat, i remember when they first came out and there was nothing but issues with em. No idea if they are better now but still see people complaining bout them nocking from time to time. Tein super streets are pretty good for road use, dad had racelogic on his which were hard as nails and tbh ****, UK distributor went bust and dad had both rears **** all their fluid out and left hanging dry with no warranty cover when they went. Ended up having Teins fitted and he loves them, alot less harsh and crashy than the the racelogics and got a decent dealer network as well. All things considered alot is down to spring rates on what ever you buy

Am I being overcharged? help?
Headgasket = bottom end build as well. It will more than likley cause the bearings to be pinched and they have a high chance of failing after a very short period. 2k is pretty cheap for a full build though. But as said, sounds like he is clueless, where is it?

Engien report is in
Mine was on roughly 105k, but it has had a hard life. It was used for a track car for a while, which is never going to be healthy for it. Until summit goes wrong i wouldn't worry about it, The Forrester wont be as highly tuned as the type r so should last alot longer

hehe, brakes are one thing on mine that are fine, AP for the win :D

Slow and steady, will need to do the box and supporting mods before really cranking it up. Gearbox, cooling, turbo, etc etc etc all adds up lol

Had the engine report come in from clinic, bit of a mixed bag. 'the crankshaft big end bearings have all worn down to the copper, this has subsequently marked the crankshaft but I'm hoping it will polish so we can reuse it. The worst thing I found is a three thou taper on cylinders two and four, cylinders one and three are marginally better, this is way out of specification. I also removed a couple of valves to check the seats and these are also worn and will need recutting, the valves themselves will need refacing.' 'This is basically just a worn engine' So nothing has failed as such, just showing its age. The block is salvagable if machined and then oversize pistons used, but power will be limited due to wall thickness reduction. Given that in mind decided to take that out of the equasion. managed to source a 2.0CDB for decent money, so that will be going in it, with a 2.1 stroker kit and my heads resfreshed. Should be good for well over 500 in the future :D Only hurdle is the engine shop is mega busy so gonna be 4 week till mine is in for building :(
