  3. Welcome along, yeah pics are good ๐Ÿ˜Š
  4. Welcome to the club, ยฃ2500 should get you a decent classic wrx, i got mine just back in april for that price and its spot on needs a few things done as its a wee bit rough round the edges but thats how i wanted it, theres nothing like the feeling of getting the car how you want it by doing it yourself the shell and rear arches are rust free probs because of it being an import but it did take me a good 9months to a year to find it
  5. Welcome along that car look decent and has full sevice history happy days. Ask if its been mapped for the supporting mods when you go to see it ๐Ÿ˜Š
  6. Welcome along to the club nice motor you got there
  7. Wecome along charlie not seen many in that colour looks good ๐Ÿ˜Š
  8. Sound i shall check that out and get hold of some, the btcc is on at knockhill this weekend if your free at any point could maybe meet up, myself and the mrs will be up both days and the weather looks like it should stay dry so should be a good weekend
  9. Yeah thats where i'll be getting the gaskets from and they seem to have really good prices, i could of probs got them through my work cheaper but they'l be crappy aftermarket ones and if its as much fun as you say it'l be i only want to do it the once, although having access to a ramp/pit is a bit of a luxury, thanks for the bit of advice spot on bud ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  10. Great thats really cheered me up haha, i should be able to it myself i can get it on the ramps or over a pit at work but thanks for the offer bud , ment to say its a v1 classic if that makes any difference
  11. Got to be worth a shot mate at that price get 2 so you have a spare, on a seperate note i noticed you've got a thread up about fitting an up pipe and to cut a long storey short i've been doing wee bits and bobs to the scoob today and noticed i've got a small leak from the up pipe gasket at the turbo and i've been on import car parts and can get the gasket set with all the bolts/studs for 27 quid i'm just wondering if thats all i need to do the job or will i have to take other sections of the exhaust off and need other gaskets aswell
  12. Welcome along buddy nice looking scoob you've got yourself there, plenty of help and advice on here we're a friendly bunch on here
  13. Welcome to the the club thats a cracking looking motor you've got yourself there, lovely colour
  14. Yeah i've heard of some folk using that oil but think its used mainly for when your on track. Might be wrong so someone might correct me ๐Ÿ˜€
  15. Yep i'll second that its what i use in my classic
  16. Sorry for the late reply been busy with the kids and work good to see some pics of your car looks really tidy and the mods are very tasty. To answer your previous question i'm up in the scottish borders in a wee place called selkirk hoping to get to at least a couple of meets down your way next year once i've got the scoob the way i want it
  17. No probs pal, i've got myself a classic impreza jdm theres pics of it somewhere in the site only got ot back in april mostly standard apart from hks de cat from turbo back a bailleys dv and an apexi air filter its go's well but saving up for a remap at the moment
  18. Welcome to the club, nice choice of motor you'll have to get some pics up
  19. We have a daveasaurus (aka) a beardy called dave, he's the grumpiest lizard going about also two little monsters running around making loads of noise and eating me out of house and home if that counts
  20. Wecome to the club nice motor you have there. U won't go far wrong with andy forrest he cetainly knows his stuff i'm hoping to get to him soon aswell, defo go with the gold wheels but i dont think putting an induction kit will add any power until you get the car remapped as i think you have to tell the ecu that you have more air flowing into the engine i may be wrong and someone may come along and correct me โ˜บ
  21. Again i can't thank you enough for all this info it really is appreciated๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ. I will check the turbo as soon as i get a minute, tbh i've hardly been driving it on the boost but just been cruising along with a big smile on my ugly mug lol so hopefully no damage has been done, i think i'll try get it to andy as soon as i can but getting ยฃ700 together is easier said than done
  22. It still has the standard tmic on it and i presume that its still the standard turbo aswell, i'm not sure on how to check if the turbo is standard. The car does seem to have alot of lag before it gets full boost at around 3k rpm as this is the first turbo car i've had i don't know if this is normal, does this sound like someone has just plugged this ecu in to go with the mods that are on the car which are the decat from turbo back, the apexi air filter, baileys dv and the walbro fuel pump, cheers savage all this advice is furthering my knowledge about these type of cars its rather annoying as i'm a mechanic but specialise in heavy vehicles and diesels hav'nt had much experience with cars.
  23. Well i've googled the model number of my impreza and from what i've read on various sites my car should have a w6 ecu which produces 240hp as standard and the z4 which is in the car was in the late 94-96 v2 wrx and wrx ra could this be why it is overboosting sometimes and running a bit rich, could someone previously have just plugged this into the car and just left it as is also will it be doing any damage to the engine as i've said before it seems to run fine the model code from my car is gc8a48d which ties in with when it was built according to scoobypedia
  24. Ok will look more into it after work, spoke to andy again last night and the only option with him is to replace the ecu or fit an esl, so i think once i have the cash together thats the route i'll be taking, i will also look up the model number on the net later just to see if the ecu is original or not, again thanks for all the advice
  25. Thanks for the reply stants, that does'nt sound to good then eh do you know if that ecu is standard to the classics as i've had a look around the bay and there seems to be loads of variations of ecu's for classic imprezas and tbh i've only seen one z4 unit on sale, also should i be going down the route of a new ecu supplied and fitted by andy, all this advice is much appreciated btw
