Sorry for the late reply been busy with the kids and work good to see some pics of your car looks really tidy and the mods are very tasty. To answer your previous question i'm up in the scottish borders in a wee place called selkirk hoping to get to at least a couple of meets down your way next year once i've got the scoob the way i want it

Wecome to the club nice motor you have there. U won't go far wrong with andy forrest he cetainly knows his stuff i'm hoping to get to him soon aswell, defo go with the gold wheels but i dont think putting an induction kit will add any power until you get the car remapped as i think you have to tell the ecu that you have more air flowing into the engine i may be wrong and someone may come along and correct me ☺

Again i can't thank you enough for all this info it really is appreciated👍😃. I will check the turbo as soon as i get a minute, tbh i've hardly been driving it on the boost but just been cruising along with a big smile on my ugly mug lol so hopefully no damage has been done, i think i'll try get it to andy as soon as i can but getting £700 together is easier said than done

It still has the standard tmic on it and i presume that its still the standard turbo aswell, i'm not sure on how to check if the turbo is standard. The car does seem to have alot of lag before it gets full boost at around 3k rpm as this is the first turbo car i've had i don't know if this is normal, does this sound like someone has just plugged this ecu in to go with the mods that are on the car which are the decat from turbo back, the apexi air filter, baileys dv and the walbro fuel pump, cheers savage all this advice is furthering my knowledge about these type of cars its rather annoying as i'm a mechanic but specialise in heavy vehicles and diesels hav'nt had much experience with cars.

Well i've googled the model number of my impreza and from what i've read on various sites my car should have a w6 ecu which produces 240hp as standard and the z4 which is in the car was in the late 94-96 v2 wrx and wrx ra could this be why it is overboosting sometimes and running a bit rich, could someone previously have just plugged this into the car and just left it as is also will it be doing any damage to the engine as i've said before it seems to run fine the model code from my car is gc8a48d which ties in with when it was built according to scoobypedia

Ok will look more into it after work, spoke to andy again last night and the only option with him is to replace the ecu or fit an esl, so i think once i have the cash together thats the route i'll be taking, i will also look up the model number on the net later just to see if the ecu is original or not, again thanks for all the advice

Thanks for the reply stants, that does'nt sound to good then eh do you know if that ecu is standard to the classics as i've had a look around the bay and there seems to be loads of variations of ecu's for classic imprezas and tbh i've only seen one z4 unit on sale, also should i be going down the route of a new ecu supplied and fitted by andy, all this advice is much appreciated btw

Here we go again folks just a quick update, i got an email back from andy last night and all he said was that he didn't recognise the chip which is in my ecu and therefore could'nt map the car i emailed him back asking if i have any other options but still waiting to hear back from him ( he's a very busy man ) so my question is can anyone see what chip he's on about coz would have thought he would have told me it was standard if it hadn't been modified. Do you think the best option is an esl/ecu replacement. Cheers everyone

Will try them pal probs not till end of the month though as its the wifes birthday soon and i dont think the excuse of i never got you anything coz i've been buying parts for the scoob will wash with her lol also going to croft for the btcc next week so thats more funds out the window. Thanks alot again savage you've been very helpfull, will keep you all posted on my progress

Exellent cheers mate . Was just having a look around ebay and your right the only injectors going around are from the later phase 2 models. Do you know where i'm likely to pick up some adaptors for them or will they just be on the bay aswell. I could always ask the guys at work as a couple of them look after rally cars and they may just have something kicking about.

Sound i,m still waiting to hear back from mr forrest so looks like i'll just be going ahead with the new esl/ecu and probs be looking into getting some injectors and a map sensor. Do these fit straight on or will i have to modify wiring etc for it all to work correctly, thanks again for all your help

Cheers for that savage, when i bought the car a couple of months ago the mods had already been done and the previous owner had said it had been mapped but had lost the printout ( which i was a bit dubious about ) but since the bodywork is solid and the engine runs sweet i took it as i'm planning on having the car for a good amount of years to come. I only really use the car at weekends as have an mondeo estate family bus to ferry the kids around dont want them to get their sticky fingers all over the scoob haha. Only bit of bother i have with the scoob is if i put my foot down into the axminster in 3rd and 4th it seems to be over boosting at around 5k rpm and it cuts the fuel ( i presume thats what its doing anyways ) the lamco boost guage thats fitted only reads upto 1.1 bar so unable to tell if its boosting higher and it also seems to run a bit rich but apart from that its running fine, could the airfilter and exhaust be causing it to do this.

Thanks for the advice guys, might have a look on the bay and possibly scumtree aswell. Would an ecu from another classic which has an esl or ecu already mapped just plug and play or would i be looking at a remap to run with the mods i have on my car, if so would it just be worthwhile getting andy to fit a new one coz by the time you add the cost of a 2nd hand ecu and the price he charges for a remap the costs will be near enough the same. the mods i have on the car at the moment are an hks decat from turbo back, apexi performance cone filter, baileys dv and a walbro 255 fuel pump. Also how is this effecting the running of the car if its not been mapped already surely it will be affecting power output. Will i be causing any damage running around in it.

Hi everybody just a quick update, thats the pics of my ecu internals been sent off to andy and i'm holding out hope that the car has been mapped previously coz when i went to take the cover off the ecu i noticed that the screws which hold it on had already been off as they were slightly rounded off, fingers crossed i only have to pay for a remap and dyno run
-

That thing is a weapon by the looks of it my classic wont be anywhere near that. Think i'll have to get some overtime in to get the money saved up for the remap though

Ok thats cool i can see why his time coststhat much he seems to be a much sought after lad from what ive read

Thanks for letting me know that phillip he said in the email that he would either have to fit an esl chip or a new ecu at a cost of £700 supplied fitted and mapped so not sure if that price is just for the ecu but will find out more once i get a pic of the internals sent off to him on saurday. At least now i can say to him i kinda have an idea of how much the esl should be thanks again
-

Yeah heard nothing but good things about him and he's just a 40 mile drive away happy days

Excellent cheers guys i'll get to it on saturday and get the pics sent off. Hopefully its already got an esl interface so i dont have to shell out £700 for one or a new ecu
