What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Scooby Pete replied to stants's topic in General Subaru Chat
I got mine from ebay, think they are copies though as they were made in India not Germany. My wiring loom cost me about £20 for all the blade connectors wire, heat shrink and flexi tube. Their guide is pretty much exactly what I did. I used the thread on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1133994 2 things with the subiemods guide. 1. the bracket on the front of the car where the existing horn and bonnet catch is was flat on mine, you may need to straighten out the SM bracket. 2. They don't mention the headlight washers. If you have them on your car, before you take the bumper off gently lift the washer cover plate up and then it unclips from the actual washer unit. If you leave them one you will break them when removing the bumper. -
Fitted the hella supertones today. You have to take the whole from bumper off!!! Took me about 4.5 hours, reckon about about an hour was spent going backwards and forwards to my garage at the back off the house. Front bumper off. It's pretty easy, there are a few fasteners on top off the grill, 4 or 5 on each wheel arch and four underneath holding the under tray on. You could do it just removing the grill but you have to take the under tray off to get to 4 screws at the bottom off the grill so it was easier just to whip the bumper off and leave the under tray on the car. I copied the subiemods bracket and made one myself for £15 inc getting a metal workshop to cut it out for me. Made up my own wiring harness using felxitube and heat shrink to tidy all the ends up. Didn't take a pic of that though :( Mounted the really to the side of the relay/fuse box. Finally got the bumper back on and everything back in place. Works a treat, I left one of my stock horns connected in case the separate fuse on the hella loom blows so I still have a horn.

Newbie & first Subaru with problems
Scooby Pete replied to Hudson's topic in New Members Introductions
Contact the directors/owners of the garage, explain it all civilly and ask the to sort it out. If no joy after that then I would go trading standars route. Does seem that they are a pretty good garage sorting all the issues but are being petty about the scoop. Good luck with it all and hope it's resolved to your satisfaction. -

Sorry mate, you may aswell buy a classic scoob for what it will cost to get the burble. In 2006 Subaru changed from the unequal length header which gave the scoob it's classic burble to an equal length header which is better for performance and efficiency. If you really want the burble you can get it back, but it means a complete front to cat back exhaust system. Plus remapping. Then you'll also have to fiddle and relocate a few wires and sensors in the engine bay. It's entirely doable, just be prepared to shell out plenty of cash.

How do I get the card? The offer on the site has a grey box with show card but nothing happens except it changes to view code. I'm on the ipad if that makes a difference? -

Lifted from Surrey Scoobies. I noticed in the last ep of Launch Controll Higgins had a big black camera on the roof of his car. Looks promising, would be good to see it in other sports. Always surprised they haven't mounted cams either side of the drivers eyes in or on the crash helmet so we can get a real drivers eye view.

Block is fine when he has set the course up and done 30 odd pratices and re-takes, but as you guys have said put him in a real rally situation and he just does not have that special something top drivers have. If he had been doing rallying for all his career in WRC he would be a lot better but he does look like a rookie when it comes to top level rallying. Which I think shows that if the WRC was the premiership, Rally America would be 1st division and European Rallies would be Championship. Thats also proved I think by Higgin's succes in the states. When he has done WRC he never really did that well but has been great at the national level. I think this is also backed up by his amazing TT run. It was fantastic and showed great knowledge and car control. Bear in mind though He does live on the Isle of Man so he knows the roads like the back of his hand and has done many laps of the circuit. I wonder how Loeb would have done in the STI?

worked fine for me. One thing the renewal is set up for Auto renewal annually is there any whay to change this? After all situations change and people move on.

stick any Photo that makes you smile. How about a mouse using the Chimney Method to climb a wardrobe!

Looks a bit speed racer cartoony to me, can't see a lot of those sharp edges or wheels making it into the production cars. Good to see car manufactures producing interesting and different cars though, if I had my choice of current ones it would be the Porsche 918 hybrid.

Cost free mods?
Scooby Pete replied to Gary2707's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Exterior. Stickers is about the cheapest I can think of. Apart from tinting lights as you already mentioned in the other thread. Painting the grills, foglight surrounds, wing mirrors, lower part of rear bumper and spoiler a different colour. Can't really do much to the engine due to remapping for any power mod. You could paint covers, fuse boxes, and other bits in the engine bay. Replace the small black vacum rubber hoses with coloured ones cheap and easy to do. Interior. Again paint trim pieces. Cheap car matts colour coded to trim. Painting stuff is cheap and if you take your time easy to do. Just make sure you prep everything properly 1st :) -
