  1. Fairly sure the current sti still uses the 2.5 EJ25 with uelh. The new wrx uses the 2.0 FA20 with elh. Could be wrong, I'm told I often am. 🙄 I've definitely got burble. 😁
  2. Ooo, private reg. 😊 I don't find it loud or droney... not sure that's even a word, but it'll do. I do plenty of motorway and some Autobahn miles and it's fine, my wife would have made the point by now if it wasn't. It is a little loud on those cold mornings, but I don't mind. 😁 £200 at a local exhaust specialist, Silver Systems in Leek.
  3. Hi Ben, Had 14 months warranty left when I bought her, but wasn't worried about any problems. Currently running Dunlop sport maxx xl, but they've had a rough 12 months, really rough. 😁 And there's no way they're gonna make my mot in Dec. Going to try Michelin Crossclimate next, really good reviews and vids. This model is really hard to get the Scooby burble out of, I went stainless axle back and full muffler delete. Sounds great. 😁 Cosmetics: New reg... 😎 Direnza hubcentric wheel spacers, 15mm all round. De badged the back, tinted rear indicators, black side badges Upgraded: Battery, Bosch S5 Panel air filter, Pipercross Pro R Head unit, Pioneer AVIC-F960DAB with sat nav. @mattiekane I've heard that "Loud pipes save lives" is this true?
  4. Ok, where to start... First off, welcome. 😁 You've made a great choice in cars, I'm on my 3rd Scooby in 10 years and couldn't imagine driving anything else. The opinions and review below are mine and as such should be treated with caution! 😊 Mine's a daily driver and our main car. Does 25 miles a day for work and has made a couple of road trips, Skye, Cornwall, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany. Never missed a beat and drove flawlessly. The Scoobys I've owned have been bullet proof, so far. Maintenance: Servicing, I tend to go 10k or 12 months. Check oil, water, brake wear, every 3 months. Wash off sap, bird crap, salt whenever spotted, clean when I can be bothered. Driving modes: Granny, (intelligent) good for rear passengers, very linear response and good round town. Sport, (sport) my choice when I'm on my own or just with the wife. Excellent response, great acceleration, just on the bridge between exciting and scary. Sport#, (trigger) what were they thinking, I would imagine it's awesome round a track, but almost unmanageable on the roads. Handling: Nothing to say other than, wow! Goes where you want, when you want. Steering's sharp and firm, still semi hydraulic I think. Gearing's a little short and there's some turbo lag, so you have to work the box and be on the ball all the time. You do have to be engaged with the car, it's not your sofa or an Audi. If you are willing to work a little, and enjoy driving, it's performance is immense. The car feels solid and incredibly stable, even an 145mph in the rain. Diff: (stock setting is roughly 40/60) I don't mess with the manual settings, not my cup of tea. Auto+ in the rain and snow, shifts the bias towards 50/50 Auto- when the temps over 20°, about 2 days a year. 😉 Running: Only ever used V Power, even when I'm Europe, it's worth the extra cost and the time to plan your route. I've averaged 27mpg over 10k, work runs every day, weekends away and the odd Autobahn. Servicing is reasonable, considering the performance car you now own. 😊 General: The ride is very firm but comfortable. Don't be tempted to soften the tyres, it weighs over 1500kg and will scrub them badly, even though it'll still handle like a dream. I run at 36psi all round. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. 😁 Ian
  5. Thanks Geoff, 😊 I'm real busy at work this week @Benji7278 but I'll give you my rundown at the weekend. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer at the same time. Enjoy! 😁 Ian
  6. @savage bulldogs Missing newer models? Maybe I can help with 1 of them, if the dates good, I'll try and get her to either Silverstone or Donnington, can't promise, but I'll try. And track time... ? 🤔 Interesting.
  7. Took her to Ambleside for the weekend.
  8. Just fitted a Pipercross Pro R panel filter. The stock filter looked like it'd filtered my pond, with the addition of flies, wasn't pretty. 🤢 As far I'm aware, the 3 separate layers in the Pipercross allow the large and medium particulates to be stopped before they combine with the fine ones to create a layer and clog the filter completely. Even the best single layered filter can't let through air if it's covered in all the different sized particles. I'll check mine in a month or so and update.
  9. Fitted a Pipercross Pro R panel filter. 😁 Haven't driven it yet but I can feel the gains already! Quote: Offering you improved Turbo Lag and throttle response as well as 3-5 Bhp increase. I love the idea it'll even be noticeable, I've no mufflers so the roar under throttle is immense and tick over makes me smile every day. But, I'm sure she'll breath easier with it.
  10. Yeah, like the contrast, but not my cup of tea. Still, each to his own. Keep up the fine modding! 😊
  11. Wow! 😨 That's impressive.
  12. Have her a good clean, inside & out. Fitted new reg. 😁
  13. Hi and welcome. 😊 Looks like a tasty little project you have there, the guys & dolls on here are full of... knowledge and experience. 😁
  14. Ok, wtf? Carbon bonnet? Looks... expensive! Can't make my mind up, like... don't like... Any more pics?
  15. !Removed!? (Wow, harsh censorship) Nads?
  16. !Removed!?
  17. Hi and welcome. 😊 Just spent 2 weeks in Banff & Jasper, couldn't believe how many Scoobys there were.
  18. It all depends on whether you think you'll ever need the excess safety margin. I guess if you never break the law, then you can down grade as long as you keep the weight in mind, I'm not condoning speeding but it's better to be safe than in a ditch. Never thought I'd need a top rated tyre till I toured Germany, @145 mph it's amazing how much faith you put in 4 bits of rubber... Personally: High speed High load xxl You should never have the think about whether or not your tyres are up to the job.
  19. Cheers stants, 😊 Ordered the S5, £95 delivered from ecp.
  20. Hi guys, Was hoping to pick your brains and get a little advice. 😊 I've had some trouble with my stock battery after letting it run flat one night, to the point where the alarm goes off. Since then it's taken to running down quite quickly if the engine's not turning over. I don't have anything other than an after market stereo, no amps, extra lights or disco balls. I'm thinking of going a little more powerful with a new battery and have seen this... https://www.tayna.co.uk/Varta-VW-1J0-915-105-AD-Battery-1J0915105AD-P9426.html Better storage and cold start that my stock one. Any others I should consider, or opinions on this one? Thanks, Ian
  21. @Tidgy Shame, I do love that roooaaar when you drop a gear and kick it... The T-Rex in the boot goes bananas and you're pushed back in your seat as 300 ponies surge forward... cars trembling in your wake... laughing like a hyena that's found an extra peanut M&M in the corner of the box... Or is that just me?
  22. Hmmm... Auto UK sti... Not sure if that's good or bad news. 😑
  23. Welcome to the club. 😁 You'll enjoy your Scooby more as you get used to how it handles and responds, had mine since Sept last year, '14 sti. The guys & galls on here are uber helpful.
