  1. If ur looking to upgrade audio and u still have the original speakers I would start by replacing them and deaden the doors. Replacing stereo is an easy job. Single din, double din, just get a subaru harness (£ 5) and Bob's your uncle.
  2. Thank you, next week I'll go and see it in person at a dealer and maybe ask you some more questions. Then the scary part, explain the benefits to my wife who would be the beneficiary of the new car.
  3. Use to have a 66 XV but the CVT drove me out of my mind and we went for the BMV (8 speed auto) wich I would call it sluggish even in sport drive.(by the way service every 19k miles, first service 300£, quored 650£ on next one) And all this because of the forester cross sports JDM, 2.0 turbo, sport auto four speeds. This thing is snappy. Don't get me wrong I'm not a racer (former 18 wheeler driver) but like fast response. I really hope RAV4 is the answer.
  4. Thank you, helps a lot. Not really looking for a pure 4x4 but just to b on the safe side in all weather situation. The car is going to do about 100 miles a day out of wich 80% highway, so I'm looking for a good reson to get rid of a one year old BMW. Diesel is out of question and can hardly wait for ur full review as by the end of the year I need new tires and possibly my second (expensive) service.
  5. I'll definitely keep my Forester jdm but looking to go hybrid for the other car we have. BMW X2 petrol. @ ernieb - As per the attached picture seems to b hybrid. Is it AWD? What kind of mileage u get out of it? TIA
  6. I've seen it before, not on a Subaru but same problem. First make sure the wheel nuts / bolts have the right profile (cone or ball). They may seem ok and tight but they can be off center. If you can borrow a set of wheels change the one you have and see if any change. Balance all tires and change front to rear and see if it makes any change. Just a few ideas.
  7. Just give it an Italian tune up, and hope for the best.
  8. Just finished the same project on a 2007 forester. Kept the JDM head unit for now and the advice I received was not only to change speakers but also sound proof / deaden all doors. Front doors received a component speakers system (JBL 6.5" about £80) Based on ur budget you can go up to hundreds of £. Rear doors received a quite cheap (Kenwood 5.25" 2 way speakers) that I'm quite happy with. All four doors sound proofed. You have ur choice of sound proofing / deadening mats but be aware, the material is heavy and I'd suggest to get the thinnest you can get. Also an appling roll is a good idea. By the way, I was quoted £500 by a "specialist" to have my front doors upgraded but decided to have a go myself. All in all, I'm really happy with the outcome of my project.
  9. 2007 JDM Forester 2.0 turbo auto 25/26 mpg town / B roads / mostly short trips Road tax £270
  10. I had the same problem with a JDM. Solution, take one pad off, take the code from the back and crossreference it. Right pads ordered. Problem solved.
  11. Part of the alarm system. Ultrasound sensors.
  12. A turbocharger?
  13. Re: antifreeze, I've just learned that OAT (organic acid technology) is the recommended one for my 2007 Forester.
  14. Thank you guys.
  15. Is Subaru ATF ok for power steering?
  16. Due to an upgrade I have my 2007 Forester mufler for sale. When changed, car had 32k miles (JDM import) In very good condition, no rust, no rattling inside. Asking £125 (shipping included)
  17. Low quality / cheap tyres tend to do that. I almost change wheel bearings because of that. Just a thought.
  18. No sure about early models, I've got an '07 JDM with HID no leveling.
  19. Most likely you have a HID xenon D2S light bulbs, no leveling check.
  20. I had a XV with CVT (2016) and got rid of it because of the cvt. It is what it is !
  21. Try this www.partsouq.com
  22. As per the title, can anybody help with the location of either one of these two relays. Fuel pump or Starter relay. I know one box is located in the engine bay and one behind small tray under the steering wheel. None shows fuel pump or starter. Thank you
