I see SC have started removing youtube vids because someone has posted the dailymail link in the comment section. A lot of damage limitation being done. Tbh I don't know where to take my WRX now as I refuse to use TRL, AET, Richard Henry and DLM after less than satisfactory experiences. I`ve religiously used SC for the last few years :(

I might have to try out RS Tuning in Leeds.

"I have a video" is there to back up his claim. He was looking for advice before going forward as I'm sure you're aware not all of us a versed in the legal proceedings when it comes to a company taking your car for a dangerous joy ride. If he has the mechanics bearing down on him in a passive aggresive manner I'm sure first he thought was, I need help. From what I see he felt intimidated enough with big mechs around him and the threat of legal action. They backed him in to a corner and then openly mocked him on forums. If they wanted to deal with it internally that's a big mistake. I fail to see what he led about? You can hear the comments made in the video. More clearly at the end when he hopes he blew a tyre. Clinic don't have a leg to stand on in this instance and it will roll on from there until a months time when it's all forgotten about.

read his MLR post, the transcript is fabricated, he lied about how he left the place etc etc

He says a lot more on mlr than the video seems to show but you don't see the full 20 minute test drive. I've only seen the 2 minute daily mail video. If the full footage is out it would be interesting to see it all to get the full info of what's been said.

Arguing about what was said detracts from the fact that clinic drove his car like twats, kev openly mocked him and threatened him with legal action along with passive aggression. Now they land with egg on their face and a lower customer base except for the brainwashed loyalists. I'm sure for yourself tidgy and the other continuous customers they look after your cars. You pump money into them. But for the one off little job like Ben had, they couldn't care less.

you cant just pick and choose what you do and dont take into account, your claimed they threatened him with legal action if he went public, where actualy they asked him to remove it because he made up thigns in it. you cant have it both ways

I had an experience at SC before over a sudden radiator gush but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Though I did have a break from them for a few years after. This new incident and other accounts I've read about over the last few days on MLR etc (inc physical threats) have put me off big time.

Anyone with any sort of unhappiness is coming out the woodwork now. How much of it is truth and how much made up you can only make your mind up yourself, but haters are coming out the woodwork whether genuine gripe or not.

Interesting statement by Scoobyclinic's Kev, they clearly aren't facing up to what has happened and using a spin that will only exacerbate matters. .

HI,

By now many if not all the car tuning community will have seen Ben Newbery's in car camera footage, especially the Subaru community.

We at the clinic pride ourselves in our honesty and integrity, 35 years in the trade, 30 years operating from these premises and the last 20 specialising in Subaru's gives us a great knowledge base to look after tune or repair your Subaru with the research done on our race, rally, gymkhana and RX cars

It amazed me how quickly some members of the car tuning community jumped on the bandwagon, deliberately stirring up the situation and turning it into a media frenzy, its akin to villagers coming out with pitchforks and burning torches hunting us down without giving us a chance to sort this, give our side of the story, make amends, carry out an internal investigation and disciplinary action if required.

Yesterday evening and through the night in a bid to minimise damage we had to delete and block several liable posts and posts containing bad language and threats from our facebook page, in this mass cull we may have deleted some members by mistake, if this is the case please E mail us direct to reinstate your profile.

Lets boil this down to its core, there is footage that we were not privy to posted on the Daily Mail on line web site, this footage seems to show a car being driven up our lane at 19 MPH, its alleged that the driver was deliberately aiming for pot holes when its clear to see that he tries to swerve avoiding as many as possible but due to the recent wet weather the lane is riddled with them making it impossible to miss them all.

Some audio is recorded showing the two lads having some sarcastic banter between them not knowing that they were being recorded, what else does it actually show ?, if the owner thinks we have done wrong the we openly apologise to him.

Our employee who has been with us for 15 years and is a very valid member of staff has tendered his notice as of yesterday requesting that I don't sack the passenger as he wasn't driving.

This witch hunt based on one employee allegedly overstepping the mark just the once has jeopardised every ones job here at the clinic and my life's work, if the community thinks that is fine then so be it.

This morning several messages left on our answer phone were listened to, they range from nasty to funny, a few nasty Emails too I do hope the perpetrators of these messages feel so much better after leaving them.

A big thanks to all our supporters and their kind words by E mail, forum posts and direct contact.

Onwards and upwards.

Kev

Jay Coles I've been to scoobyclinic, you can barely do 10mph down your lane never mind 19mph, video looked like he was doing 25+.

Understand it's not your fault as a company, but the driver is a !Removed! no way around it & he deserves the sack.

The actions in the video aren't acceptable or defendable and from my experience of SN, MRL, youtube and facebook reactions 95% condemn SC's actions and reactions. It is sad Kev's honest staff may suffer, especially Pat the Map who I've always declared is the best in the business.

Hence why someone of 15 year service has left the company. what more do you want them to do?

Just admit a member of staff was out of order, all at SC were appalled/shocked and he has resigned, Then offer some form of compensation for the stress on both the customer and his car. Maybe pay RCM or a tuner of Ben's choice £1000 in which Ben can redeem there etc.

The Facebook page response has aggravated more people. Something Kev will no doubt put on "joining the bandwagon"

He will be gone for a month or two until the **** storm settles.

I've never wanted it both ways. Stand by everything I've said. I wouldn't say coming out of the woodwork. We've always been here just now there is proof to make a point of. You were quite happy to slag off Duncan on your "my mates" knowledge but will gleefully defend your clinic with video proof. All of those that had new pieces of work magically appear when at clinic now have a reason for their doubt.

That statement "if the owner thinks we did wrong" right so clinic doesn't actually think they did wrong. Only if Ben thinks they did wrong. Hardly gonna be a sincere apology. The nasty messages are wrong and those are the villagers with pitchforks. Not the genuine members of the community who feel wrongly done by clinic.

I'm not surprised his response has gone down badly... a mechanic handed in his resignation and asked that no action is taken against the passenger since he wasn't driving, yet he defends the mechanic saying that he was avoiding the potholes? "If the owner thinks we have done wrong", talk about choosing your words poorly... it is clear from the footage that hitting the potholes was deliberate, needs to accept it, apologize and move on....
