Scoobyghost
All the 2.5 suffer from it, even the newest model (despite what some people claim, clinic hav already had 3 2015+ cars in with ring land/headgasket failures). Also seems to make no difference regarding tune. Exact numbers are unknown, but its very common indeed. Actual failures or are they creating work for themselves again? Going up to JM tomorrow after work for another test drive and possibly out a deposit down! 😱😬 have a mate Stateside as well who had one, no issues. Seems pot luck... Seminole81
Can someone confirm what the compression should read on the EJ257 engine? standard 142psi - 171psi fairly sure, limit 128psi. Max difference between cylinders 7psi?

Tidgy
If you do go for it, make sure it has a proper CAT1 alarm fitted and has been under sealed. Also first thing i would do is as soon as you pick it up head straight to a specialist to get it given the once over and dyno'd to make sure its all running ok.

Definitely going to have it double checked over. Deposit paid though!

Seminole81
Haha! Yeah! Don't get it till next week so I'm gutted about that! Full service, alignment. Compression test came back at 174psi across the board, so it's great. Timing belt and water pump both look in good condition and ready to rock! Can't wait to pick it up next week! Personally i;d get the cambelt done, very easy to make em look good with an oily rag. Also its the tensioners that you need to worry about, they are the cause of failure 99% of the time cam belt is an issue. They are hydraulic and the seal goes meaning the belt looses tension and all hell breaks loose.

They are hydraulic and the seal goes meaning the belt looses tension and all hell breaks loose. It was done in Singapore. They've double checked it for wear and everything. They're doing a full service of all fluids (trans., oil, brake, etc.) and have done a full inspection on everything else. Have to say JM Imports have been first class and nothing is too much bother for them. They're even doing a reroute for the DEFI gauges into the triple hood pod and a double A pillar pod set for me. Going to move the link into the glovebox to keep it discreet/clean looking (unless someone comes up with a much better idea quickly! Also thinking of setting the boost gauge warning at 18.5psi? That sound about right? Should be 14.5 from factory, but it's got a exhaust and intake on it...what's the best way to watch and rid of boost creep as I'm not entirely sure if it's been tuned (appeared so as it never really went above 1.2 bar and then tapered off). Keeping the turbo timer and APEX in the same place. They sent me this photo last night too. Side note, does anyone have or know if any completely blown turbos that are scrap? I'd like one to try a little project with (lamp making?)
