  1. I'm not an expert, I dont have a clue what the e boxer battery problem is but I do carry a small portable 12v battery pack with me that can start my car if I need it. These are brilliant for emergencies - might be an idea to help you out for now. I went for UTRAI after seeing reviews on you tube. Cheers and all the best
  2. Nice motor 🙂 Welcome.
  3. Hi Have you got a handbook? it should say in there...mine is number 20 fuse 10A but its a lot older model than yours so might be different.
  4. Can only speak from my own experience owning a 2009 MY Petrol. Had it 2 years 9 Months and honestly it has never let me down, it just fires up and goes every time ... it needed a fresh cam belt / water pump and pulleys/ new set of tyres when I bought it at 106K miles, haven't had to spend much more on it since ...a yearly oil change and she's happy 🙂
  5. Wonder if the glass is out of alignment and sticking maybe..just a guess.
  6. Dont know why Subaru didnt just build one in as standard on newer models, the cam in the link doesn't mention a speed limit warning as the OP wanted (maybe it has, who knows) but it does look neater. Yes it says it uses the reversing camera to record too (only forward recording on the Legacy ).
  7. Yeah, thats where I have my sat nav down in the corner. Just looked it up about dash cams and eyesight and came across this https://dashcameras.net/dash-cam-subaru-eyesight/ The one I have is only small so might be ok.
  8. Hi Justin, my dash cam is just an aftermarket purchase - it has some useful features see link https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/667391. My car doesn't have eyesight, I mounted it just below the rear view mirror like in the photo in the link (amazing how small they are for what they do). Cheers
  9. Sorry, dont know if there is a speed function or not on your xv - my Garmin 56 Dash Cam does the job for me though.
  10. Fathomed why the tailgate door was hard to close - was having to press it down hard just to get it to click shut. Found the lower middle bit of trim (where the lower catch pops through) was partly sitting on top of the rubber weatherseal. Thats all it was after nearly 3 years of struggle and alarm triggers 🙂
  11. Maybe this one Wulbert? Dont think it mentions SH models though.
  12. Hi, did you buy it? I like the 4 speed auto box but then again I'm strange lol. It's a strong box, it has to be it works hard. Up hills it will annoy you by changing down and up like a yo yo - best in sport mode for hills, it will hold 3rd for for longer - fuel economy, well there is no economy - I get 21.9 mpg around where I live (hilly) and not much more on a run but I still love the thing 🙂
  13. Hi A quick check for the cabin filter being wet might be a good idea. I found my filter to be sopping wet because muddy silt had built up under the windscreen wiper cowling stopping water escaping on the bulkhead. I had terrible condensation, the heater blower was sucking air through the wet filter and blowing out damp. Best wishes Brack
  14. Hi, depends what your needs are and how much your willing to pay, a set of Michelins will last you forever at 6K miles a year - I went for Michelin Latitude Cross all season but not sure that they come in your size. My other car has a set of Bridgestone Weatherproof all season - no complaints with those either, brilliant grip in winter. Nokian are good too according to some members on here Avoid cheap Chinese brands at all costs or you will be paying twice.
  15. Found the knack - just need to approach the downhill steady in say 3rd manual mode then while descending shift down into 2nd and 1st, the car takes you down slowly. If you stop at the top and set off down in manual 1st the car just speeds up and the brakes are needed, the car doesn't seem to know you want to go down slowly in the snow (my car anyway). All the best Brack
  16. Hi all, not a biggie but when its very hot weather my EJ20 petrol automatic struggles to fire up. In ordinary / cooler / winter weather it starts up straight away everytime. Starter turns it over fine but the engine just dies - after a few tries it fires up eventually, a little press on the accellerator seems to help (with the other foot on the brake). Had the same issue last Summer on very hot days - Just wondering if anyone else has come across this, might it be the start of a bigger problem? Cheers for any advice Brack
  17. Thanks Jay and Mr B, the filter doesnt seem to be a servicable part being built into a pump thats so fiddly to take apart - a new pump seemed the only option. Maybe I worry too much but I've been bitten by a clogged up fuel filter before so a bit wary of them. Do you know if the fuel tank is plastic by any chance?
  18. Hi all, My 2.0 NA Petrol has 110K on the clock with no record of a fuel filter change - in the book it says to change at 60k. Looking things up it appears to be built into the fuel pump and a PITA to change. I'm thinking to get a replacement fuel pump - what do you guys think? Should the book say replace the fuel pump at 60K miles maybe. Hating these smart motorways so I'm trying to cover all options so not to break down on them Thanks for any advice Neil
  19. I'm no expert but I'd say air was being drawn in to the system somehow - do these pumps need bleeding after being re filled maybe? Someone with more knowledge than me should be along soon 😉
  20. Sounds a good plan, let us know how you get on bud 🙂
  21. Maybe a small oil drip that's landing on the exhaust ....valve cover gasket leak etc.
  22. I've not had any problems with my SH petrol model, its been 100% reliable. Best to have test drives to get an idea of which make and model of car suits your needs. Main points on a Forester - FSH, 4x matching good tyres and the cam belt changed at 60K miles (if petrol) Good luck 🙂
  23. Solar powered camera connects to the monitor by wifi - very happy with it. Cheers Brack
  24. Used the holes that a previous owner had drilled and some rubber fittings that squelch up from behind to form a washer when tightened up. Reversing camera now fitted securely - I'll post a pic soon....amazing these cameras when you have a very dark window tint like mine especially at night 🙂
  25. Hi Tony and welcome 🙂
