  1. Yellow 440cc injectors will make that target with supporting mods 😉 If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  2. Hi n welcome to s.o.c, nice choice of scooby [emoji106] If you've serviced you own cars before they're fairly easy to work on imo . Well..... once you get familiar with the scooby lingo and the boxer layout that is [emoji5] What county are you in greg? as it might help members know of reputable tuners or meets near by . And pics , we like pics [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  3. Although they both look offset they do look different to me but that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't fit . Basically I'm non the wiser lol . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  4. Best pic I've got of the top mount shape . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  5. I wouldn't put your phone number on a public forum there's all sorts of weird n wonderful people out there ....... not too mention gambit [emoji23] Try downloading tapatalk, Cos when they're not updating it , it seems to make posting on here easier for me [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  6. 4 elbaich springs ,in good condition . 2 rear shocks and 2 rear group n top mounts , I bought from icp for over ÂŖ250 and did about 1.5 k mls on b4 fitting the coilovers [emoji15] [emoji5] Dunno if any of it fits a foz though ? If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  7. Dunno if they'll fit the foz but I've got a few suspension bits in the for sale section. 4 x elbaich pro springs (lower a uk gc8 by 30mm) Nearly new rear shocks Nearly new Group n rear top mounts. If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  8. I used to run 10 60 millers nano drive due to my race spec forged pistons needing thicker oil . since I've swapped to a bigger rollerbearing turbo with a restrictive banjo bolt, my oil pressure has risen so I now use 10 50 nano drive millers. I think Most say 5 30 or 5 40 for newage , 10 40 for classics and 10 50 in tappy or slappy classics to help with the looser tolerances. If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  9. The t'd series turbos are journal based and will have a bit of sideways play . As they require a film of oil around the shaft to take up the play .Unlike roller bearing turbos which shouldn't have any play . If there's not any in and out movement, smoke or exessive noise it's probably ok and doesn't need a rebuild . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  10. Admittedly I run 17" 45 215 's on a lighter classic impreza and I've got quite a few supporting suspension mods. adjustable arb ,links , roll centre correction kit, elbaich camber bolts ect ... But I've found the damper response on the meister r zeta-r coilovers quicker than the previous standard kybs with elbaich pro springs and the other mods .I now have a bit of a harsher ride but much more traction when pushed hard or on uneven road surfaces Mr b knows his stuff, especially on springs/ strut combo's [emoji106] I'm only speaking from personal experience of the 2 set ups I've had on my own impreza . The elbaich springs /kybs combo was good starting point for me when I used the car a lot more . I now only do sub 5k mls a year and run 350hp + so soft'ish coilovers suit my needs fine but maybe not the op 's . I definitely agree that 18's , low profile tyres and stiff suspension isn't such a great handling combination on our crappie roads . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  11. My v1 sti had tein streets on it when my brv owned it and the first thing I did when I got the scooby off him was remove em . The quality was fine but they only had adjustable height not damper , so they were far to harsh for a daily driver imo . If your buying new have a look at meister r zeta-r coilovers . Think they cost about ÂŖ500 with the s.net group buy discount . Couldn't tell you what the longevity is like as I've only had them on my classic for 4 months but they look well made and with a 35 mm drop they're more comfy than a friends bug sti with standard shocks and prodrive springs . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  12. Yep I'll have some of that ... where do I sign up quick b4 the Mrs changes her mind [emoji1] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  13. It's probably champagne silver being a v5/v6 , mines a earlier jdm in 406 silver but it's got black rims and skirts / splitter . Which is close enough hence the bias [emoji4] And the last line is a "signature" on tapatalk that sort of sums up my aproach to my car [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  14. Hi n welcome . Nice looking example with some choice mods [emoji41] Nice colour scheme too ..... But I'm a bit bias when it comes to silver classics with black rims [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  15. There shouldn't be any coolant in the up pipe to leak (just exhaust gasses) so I'm a bit stumped on that ,unless the turbo core is fubar'd. Are you sure it's not leaking coolant from the turbo coolant lines and running down the up pipe? Excessive oil in the turbo outlet and blue smoke would normally indicate turbo oil seals . If you've been cornering hard on boost it could just be oil "surge or slosh" in the sump. Which pushes oil from the breather system into the intake and through the turbo coldside to the y pipe. If your not getting any smoke from the exhaust , clean the oil from the y pipe and tmic if needed. Then keep a eye on your oil levels regularly and see if the y pipe gets oily again . Hopefully it's not the turbo core that's fubar , unless you want to fit a bigger turbo of course [emoji39] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  16. I run meister r zeta-r coilovers and they do give a option for different spring rates if you want them . Although I just went with the "rate" they suggested for fast road use . Maybe you'd be better off buying a pair springs (for front or rear) at the rate they recommend. That way they'd at least be the same rate for either axle [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  17. It would probably cost a fair bit in postage sending it back n forth . you could bring it to me it will only take 30 mins to convert it. If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  18. I think if the idler bearing bolts are over tightened (not torqued down properly ) they can snap , so check to see if the bolt is in 1 piece . As you might need to extract the broken bit and buy a new bolt with the new idler bearing. If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  19. Couldn't tell you what rate springs you need as I've never owned b.c's but if you contact whoever your buying the replacement spring from they should know what spring belongs on the model that suits your gc8 . Or better still if there's a part number on the springs or strutts and forward that to them . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  20. Once the actuator is removed mark the position of both hot and cold sides before undoing anything. The coldside is held onto the core with a big circlip at the back and the hotside is held on with a "v band" type join (10mm bolt ). I cut the end off the cast "elbow" on the coldside and had it welded back together. As long as you don't take the core apart you won't need to get the turbo rebalanced [emoji6] Heres my Converted coldside that will just swap over with the top entry one (ÂŖ40 posted if you want it ) And here's the only pic I can find from when I converted from front entry to top and removed the hotsides If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  21. Dunno what you 2 are moaning about it was 1 of the easiest jobs I've done on my scoob [emoji55] ....... Mind you I think the engine was on the kitchen table at the time [emoji23] I'm sure you'll be fine fella [emoji106] if it's due spark plugs soon it might be worth fitting those at the same time [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  22. Drivers side cam cover and half moons are a common problem due to heat from the up pipe and turbo making them brittle . If it's the half moons it normally drips oil on the up pipe causing a oil burning smell but not always , so maybe give the area a wipe over to remove the oil and run it up to visually check for leaks . As the rocker gaskets are a bit of a pain to get to when the engines in situ , especially if you have to clean liquid gasket off the head face . Classic bucket seats are about as low as you can get (other than race buckets) and the newage seats make you sit a bit higher. I'm 6 ft and although it's a bit tight I'm still comfortable but I have got 2011 sti seats and a momo 330 mm steering wheel. Make sure that you use oe gaskets ,as cheap ones don't last and make sure they're the right ones for your year (there's at least 2 different types for classics alone ) . Don't over tighten the cam cover bolts either . All the best If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  23. Don't forget to check the top of rear suspension turrets , cos my old 97 UK looked ok from the underneath and outside but when I removed the boot liners the rear turrets were fubar'dīŋŧ If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  24. Set up the gear judge and start duty function on the avcr last night ... What a difference it's made[emoji33] [emoji16] [emoji12] . Now Spools about 700 rpm sooner to the 1 bar target in 2nd gear compared to the old settings in 4th [emoji41] Only issue is that I'll definitely have to set up the low boost mode . As it's a bit too responsive for the Mrs doing the tesco run and will probably be running on boost when driving at 65mph on the duel carriage way in 6th [emoji23] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  25. Just spotted this on f B too [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
