  1. 5 hrs later , Not too bad seeing as I've never pulled a newage lump before [emoji6]
  2. Any intake air leak (from maf to throttle body ) can cause hunting and running issues ,due to unmetered air entering the mixture . Have you checked intake , tmic y pipe and vac lines for splits / leaks ?
  3. My Swedish ain't too sharp and ive only owned my bug a week but as long as its a single scroll hawk downpipe i think it should fit . I can take some measurements once i get my bug sti decat downpipe off this afternoon, dunno if that will help as its running a full aftermarket turbo back though
  4. Now you've fixed the throttle issue (tps ) the faulty tps and tight throttle cable might have been masking other issues . If iacv was off another scoob it could need adjusting ? You could alter the idle by loosening the screws on the top of the iacv and twisting it slightly . Just make sure you mark the original position ,so it can be returned back if it doesnt work . Could also be the ecu temp sender or its wiring / plug , give that a visual check . As if the car thinks its cold it will enrich the mixture
  5. Probably the wife , mines not too happy we have 5 motors on the drive [emoji23]🤣
  6. Alls well with me thanks , well apart from just buying a bug sti , which has cheered the mrs up no end 🤣 Looks like the previous owner has spent a fair bit of time n money on your bug , with some tasty mods , nice choice chap [emoji106] I've only owned my bug a week ,so not too clued up on them yet but I'm sure someone will be able to help with the questions [emoji6]
  7. Didn't know you had a blobeye as well , 2 scoobs is just plain greedy [emoji850] Looks much better sitting lower , bet the front end doesn't lift as much on boost and you don't get sea sick in the twisties anymore [emoji41]
  8. She'll be for sale once the engines run in , its been on attowes dyno and got the all clear . It will certainly be a good strong lump when its done and its had a new clutch , full cambelt kit and b.c coilovers fitted about 800 miles ago [emoji41]
  9. Hi n welcome to s.o.c , sounds like your gonna be busy with 2 project scoobs . Plenty of classic owners on here , so feel free to start a thread in the relevant section and I'm sure we'll be able to help
  10. Glad to hear you've come to your senses at last [emoji16] Gambits scoobless atm [emoji53] but he's still about lol , but this thread is pointless without pics [emoji849]
  11. Cheers chap ,Soon as spring is here i'm hoping to get stuck in with the bug build ,cos atm the bug looks mint but sounds like a diesel and the v1 goes well but needs a bit of tlc on the outside [emoji849]
  12. Promise I won't spam my classic project thread with newage pics , hey i might even start a new project thread to show the bug some love . For now here's a couple of pics of the v7 wrx sti type uk I've bought off a mate , it's a clean example but unfortunately the previous owner had hidden a mild crank rumble [emoji53] So soon as the weather gets better I'm gonna rebuild the engine and save the 77k bug sti from being broken [emoji41] Just means the v1 sti's parallel fuel rail conversion and respray is going on the back burner ,again [emoji850]
  13. Dry day .... time to play ..... although the v1 sti doesn't look happy theres a bug in its place
  14. Always nice to see a classic getting some tlc , even if some of the prep pics are gruesome
  15. Once you get your head around the boxer layout they're quite easy to work on . I enjoyed my classic build that much i bought that bug to have another go lol
  16. Nice progress , glad you seem to be enjoying the learning curve and managed to get that banjo bolt out .
  17. Good shout on both oil separator plate and cam cover gaskets/ half moons [emoji106] From the factory the sump is just sealed with liquid threebond (no gasket) but I'd suggest to upgrade to a group n cork sump gasket . If you do change the rear crank seal ffs dont push it in too far (just flush with chamfer). if you do push it in too far it will block the return to sump channel and leak like fook when it get up to temp...... trust me I've been there lol Check the clutch and flywheel spigot bearing for wear too [emoji6]
  18. Na i won't be modding this 1 , just a oe spec rebuild ....... honest [emoji850]
  19. a mate bought it almost 2yrs ago with low mileage and good history , it's a nice clean example but unfortunately the previous owner had hidden a mild crank rumble [emoji53] It's got progressively worse and although its driveable and doesn't use any fluids , it needs a bottom end rebuild [emoji6]
  20. Today i mostly be buying another project sti scooby, to keep the v1 sti company and my idle hands busy [emoji4]
  21. Yeah theres 2 types of speedlines that were fitted to classics from the factory that look very similar. The speedlines above look like the ones fitted as a optional extra on my old v3 uk . They have straight double spokes and the et means they dont clear 4 pots . the rb5 ones have double spokes with a slight v at the bottom and clear 4 pots no problem [emoji851]. Easy mistake to make though ...... I only realised that my old uk ones were different after i fitted 4 pots and the wheels didn't fit back on [emoji848]🤣[emoji23]
  22. Tbh i couldn't tell you what those codes are for without looking them up but any leak between the maf and cylinder head inlet ports , can flag up a maf , map or misfire code . Due to the maf reading air coming in and the air pressure in the inlet manifold (read by the map sensor) not adding up . Give the intake pipework, tmic y pipe and vac lines a visual check for splits or cracks
  23. I can't see the link on tapatalk but if your thinking of coilovers buy the best you can afford and avoid non adjustable damper ones . As i had tein street coilovers on my classic , the ride height and geo was perfect but the ride was tooth chippingly crashy . I run MeisterR zeta r's on my classic, had them for just over 2yrs and they seem ideal for fast road /daily driving (i just soffen them up for long family journeys) .i paid just over £500 for the current 32 way adjustable damper ones but i think they've gone up in price since.
  24. Yeah thats whats taking the time ,bud . ive had to go through my build thread , see what pics i need , download them to my tablet , delete their link and upload each pic individually. Probably my fault for taking so many pics of my my never ending "project" [emoji849]
