  1. Does the fob work normally? Do you have the alarm pin? If not Subaru should be able to supply it, assuming a previous owner didn't change the pin.
  2. Key out of ignition! When you disconnect the battery, if the alarm sounds try silencing it using the remote button?
  3. H6s are not unduly prone to HG failure but if it's overheated, all bets are off. Firstly, when you first got the coolant light did you check the levels in the radiator and the expansion tank? Has the temperature gauge risen at all indicating overheating? These engines normally run with the temp indicator steady at 9:00 on the gauge. Does it push coolant into the expansion when warm/hot and if so does it draw back when the engine cools? Pressure tests can be ambiguous as are combustion gas/coolant tests. There is usually no mixing of oil/coolant. History of the car? It could be as simple as not properly burped or the wrong thermostat, Subarus are fussy about using genuine Subaru stats. If it ends up being the HG, very complicated to do so £4000 is possible. I wouldn't use HG sealant (Holts Radweld or similar) unless you are really desperate and don't mind small coolant passages getting gummed up with crud.
  4. OK, not to worry. No idea if Freessm works on a 2016 - never had a car that new!
  5. Has the car had any work done prior to the first appearance of the lights? If you were anywhere near Chigwell (e/London) I'd offer to scan with Freessm and see if it reveals anything.
  6. You sure that is the right reg?
  7. Maybe you don't need keys to get into a vehicle from the future, just call Marty McFly.
  8. Tried swapping the AC relay over with a similar one?
  9. Checked the switch on top of steering column?
  10. Have the lights been on since the transmission change? Could be something unplugged. Try reset and see what happens? Make sure the transmission fluid is at the correct level!
  11. You shouldn't run a spacesaver on the front anyway. If you get a front puncture you should move a back tyre up to replace the burst one, deploying the SS to the rear. So there should be no need to put the SS on the front anyway.
  12. Is the check engine light on? Any work done to the car recently? Do all brakelights work as they should?
  13. There should be stored fault codes. You need to get those read.
  14. Stupid question possibly but I have to ask - did you check the oil level before the drive home from Glasgow? Just trying to ascertain if it was full before the trip and burnt it off, or perhaps was low/empty before the trip.
  15. OK I guess. Good for commuting when possible!
  16. Hiya. Yeah, just round the corner from Madginford Close. Nice area.
  17. Welcome. Exiga's are very rare. We used to live in Bearsted near Madginford shops - you?
  18. Power steering fluid cooler. Should have fins attached to enhance cooling effect
  19. Good job getting it sorted. Might help a bit too with fuel consumption now the engine gets up to optimum temps quicker.
  20. When/if you open up to install the new thermostat make sure you burp as much air out of the system when refilling. The heater matrix sits quite high and can be a !Removed! to bleed.
  21. Any idea what thermostat is in it? Petrol Subis prefer OEM tstats, not sure about diesels.
  22. I can't advise on the screws but these cars are known for the wires feeding the rear gate to break within the boots carrying the wiring loom between the body and the gate, near the rear hinges. The power for the wiper, and other services such as lights, are in the right hand side boot. Often break. If you are sure this isn't the problem, a new motor might solve the problem; however if the wires are broken, new motor wont work. Check if not already by "peeling" back the rubber boot and check for breaks.
