dont think redex will sort it - yes I would pull the sender out and give it a service - it should be with the petrol pump so not too hard a job to complete, dependant on how old the car / mileage is consider replacing the fuel pump whilst you are there?

I dont think its true - there are too many eyes on them at the moment, they will be doing all that stuff to maintain his stasis and monitoring for indications of a recovery - getting him off the drugs and letting his body start taking over / or not will indeed take time

its all done off a sender in the tank itself, as Gambit says it sounds like the linkage could go with a bit of a clean

Watch for bolts dropping - put a sheet / towel over your engine to catch them - mine had bolts going into top hat type nuts but they were not solid in the plastic scoop and I dropped a couple into the bay below bit of a pain to get the little buggers out again
