  1. Wotcha and welcome Mike - sorry to hear you have some issues there. We have had a couple of recommendations for your area from Scooby Pete a resident in your part of the world Surrey Subaru Specalist in camberly. https://www.facebook.../surrey.subarus TFS who have moved to Aldershot hants. 01252 330366 are very good and worth the journey.
  2. Wotcha and welcome Smiler we have a subaru buying guide - it is Impreza flavoured but a lot of it is relevant across the models - when you have narrowed down your search to a more specific idea let us know and members with those models can advise - of course you are free to browse the different areas of the forum http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/ also we have a few bikers on here :)
  3. Wotcha and welcome - that is a clean motor, great colour - similar to my Kwak crosser :P
  4. its all done off a sender in the tank itself, as Gambit says it sounds like the linkage could go with a bit of a clean
  5. Watch for bolts dropping - put a sheet / towel over your engine to catch them - mine had bolts going into top hat type nuts but they were not solid in the plastic scoop and I dropped a couple into the bay below bit of a pain to get the little buggers out again
  6.  We have both mentioned this to Steve again last week - sorry you have still not received yours yet
  7. Great read very useful - saving £90 plus in the process, appreciate you taking the time to do this :)
  8. on the Impreza it just unbolted no clips or catches - dont know if that helps
  9. That looks like time well spent - great result
  10. Wotcha and welcome - it is one hell of a bang when the windscreen goes like that - I hit a pheasant once that flew across me just as I was joining the motorway, suffice it to say I was well up to take off speed by then and was very awake for the next two hours of driving :D
  11. Nice bit of momentum building now ;)
  12. burnt sand smell - brakes or clutch, oil smell - possibly a leak or turbo on way out, hot rubber you may have an engine over temp issue or brake caliper seized (plus burnt sand) smell of burnt leather - its Gambit in chaps after some vigorous rubbing - good news for the rest of us - he's now stalking you :D ;)
  13. The turbo doesnt need back pressure its only NA cars that have issues with exhaust lengths and pulse matching etc putting the sport cat on will allow more free flowing route for the gasses but wont upset the mixture, so running it without a map in conjunction shouldn't be an issue - it differs with air filters as they increase the flow into the engine and as such will effect your mixture and it could run lean The turbo will spool up in conjunction with your engine out put as it would normally IMO its the right order to do it in - did it that way on my 200sx years ago and had no problems at all
  14. hmmm does sound a desperate sell or something wrong with it - ho hum
  15. Thats a fair package you have there - I believe Scooby Pete enjoys these as a distraction as well
  16. if you dont ask you dont get - you can always come down...
  17. looks good - I did some fin repair using a v small screwdriver and agree my back was feeling it afterwards, like some crappy plank exercise :D
  18. I could see the sense of it if you were constrained with space but I wouldn't have one myself purely because of the angles used in construction of the pipework - Airflow at that point should be nice and smooth its only when you are mixing the fuel and air a little turbulence is good
  19. Did you take any photos of that - sounds like a top job??
  20. nah dont believe you - not without photographic proof ;) ;) :)
  21. bought it up a treat that has - tidy job as well
