  1. Onto of the engine is a bad place to have something trying to cool air. once driving airflow is limited by the size of the scoop so not ideal then. Simply put front mount is better for performance.

hmm, i think im gonna nock ot ont he head and just stick with the volvo for now lol cheers guys its been an eye opener
  3. Yep, also way beyond the capability of most drivers. it's very easy to say i want X power, but its a very different thing to have it and pay for it. your talking £1500 for the turbo, £2000 for the ecu and thats only two things, full engine rebuild for it will mean rods, pistons, head studs, crank bearings, fuel system upgrade, etc etc etc
  4. find a decent tuner, give them your keys and your wallet and leave it with em,,,,, lol 500bhp is alot of power so will need to have a very good spec to get it there. Full custom engine build etc, prob nocking on 20k+
  5. TD05 is pretty old tech, be better chucking an sc42 at it or something similar.

was looking at under 10k, so xv's over budget apart from odd ones which arnt in best condition
  8. yeah sorry :( if your gonna be going that far then worth looking at uprated pistons, rods, headgasket and headstuds. will stop the same thign happening again and if you do it right will run 450bhp no problems
  9. Basically when the head gasket goes water gets into the cylinder. Cos it wont compress the bearings get pinched and damaged. They then have a nasty habbit of failing after 1000 miles. Which would mean another fulls trip down and rebuild doubling the cost. Given your 70% of the way there it would be daft not to. Mate found that out the hardway ;)
  10. I'd be amazed if it was still for sale chap, first post is dated october 2015
  11. Had same thing with mine, thought the mechanism was broken till kev walked out the workshop with a bottle of wd40 and a screw driver haha. Best way way kinda like above. Need's two of you though. Soak the mechanism in WD40. Second person pull the cable inside so it pops up (may need to wiggle it a bit with the screw driver to free the mechanism). Give it more wd40 and push the latch down with a screw driver. pull the cable to release again Give it more WD40 and push the lactch down with screw driver do it a load of times and should give it a nice good clean out.
  12. Do what you like, not what others say ;)
  13. It's like anti lag, people want it until they realise how much damage it does lol
  14. Will highly likley be bottom end damage as well, so make sure to replace the crank bearings as well

hahaha, sorely tempted, but need something with better mpg and not vpower
  16. welcome. sorry to hear your problems. and time for the bad news. budget minimum 3k for the rebuild. will need a full strip down and crank bearing replacement plus what ever else has been damaged. You need to get it to a specialist who can sort it properly. If it's not done right it will fail again and again and again. If the garage you bought it from wont agree to pay the full cos of the engine build including crank bearings (based on being several thousand) then reject the car can get your money back, don't risk it cos you'll end out of pocket with a knackered car.
  17. not played deus ex for a fe days now, bit to dispaointed with it at the min. Reinstalled farcry 2, which i think was one of the first true open world shooters? also been playing armoured warfare and a few rounds of world of tanks. but the latter is possibly at the uninstall stage. Compared to AW its pretty poor, full of abusive children and getting one shotted in 3/4 of the rounds now.
  18. really sorry to hear all the issues your having. :(

    freelander 2

So my daily volvo is starting to get a bit long in the tooth (167k and counting) and thinking about replacing it. I was pondering on a freelander 2. Anyone had one, any experiences? typical one im looking at http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201606104797767?search-target=usedcars&make=land_rover&model=freelander_2&maximum-mileage=up_to_80000_miles&postcode=np131lf&sort=default&page=2&radius=1500&searchcontext=default&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&logcode=p&adPos=7
