If all the holes are before the o2 sensor then yes this could bring up a code as the sensor will not be detecting the correct amount of gasses 👍

If you trust them mate then it should be ok as it's just a couple bits of exhaust but you'll have to tell them to use genuine subaru gaskets which are only a few quid from importcarparts.co.uk thats where a few of us on here get oem parts from at a decent price 👍

Thats pants mate, did they tell you what parts of the exhaust are shagged although at that price i'm assuming its the cat 👍

When you get the code reader just clear the fault, go out a drive and try to replicate the way you were driving today when the light came on also try different styles of driving to check if that makes it come on aswell, hopefully the car was just having a wee hissy fit 👍

If the car is still running fine don't worry too much about it as it must be a non critical fault if you know what i mean as if it was a major fault then it would go in to limp mode and de-rate the power by say 60%, the engine management can come on for hundreds of reasons, all these sensors and ecu's read info from everything else by the millisecond so all it takes is for a slight misfire or something not getting correct voltage for say a second and the car goes s**t somethings wrong put on the light, i use vpower in mine, i used bp ultimate or what ever its called once when i needed fuel and it was the only place about to go and the car didn't like it at all, if you have a tesco nearby their momentum 99 is ok 👍

Aye that filter looks about right mate and i wouldn't use a scissor jack, they are crap and i wouldn't trust it to hold up especially with the weight of the engine etc at the front 👍

Been kinda following this the past couple of days mate and buying a scoob is no different to buying any other 2nd hand car they all come with some problems also all these people who are trying to put you off have any of them ever owned and ran one of these cars? If not i would take what they saying with a pinch of salt, scoobs are really reliable cars as long as you keep on top of servicing and any other wear and tear items such as brakes etc and they are no more expensive in parts than any other manufacturer the 2ltr engine is a cracking engine so as long as you don't mind changing the oil every 5-6k then it'l all be ok, like the lads have said previously check for any rust especially around rear arches, sills and strut towers, get your hand in about the lip of the rear arch as all the s**t gathers there, make sure you warm up the engine before any spirited driving and then letting it cool down properly when you come to park up, what one was it that's in scotland and where is it about 👍

I hear you fella, i'm the opposite to yourself as i fix hgv's every day so sometimes i just get a bit sick of looking at engines, gearboxes and all the other parts that go with it but i do still love tinkering with the scoob when i have the chance and i haven't had too heavy a week at work and my old bones aren't aching haha 😂😂, i've decided to put the repair panels for mine on the xmas list and the mrs says she will get the arches for me which is nice of her 👍

Thanks mate and i must agree i enjoy working on them myself aswell, i've done all the work myself up to this point and although i can weld and paint the guys who do it day in day out will do better than i could and i will be helping with the cutting, welding and the prep before paint and I'll be doing the strip down by myself, the blacksmith can't do anything till after the new year now so won't be much happening till then but still can't wait to get in about it all 👍

There's a thread in the how to section with all the manual flash codes in it where it tells you long flashes are 10 and short flashes are 1 👍

Same here my classic makes that bubbling noise aswell but never use's any fluids so probs nothing to worry about 👍

Cheers buddy 👍, will be good to keep the old girl on the road and the guys at the bodyshop said the same as you that there's not many left on the go and they're more than happy to help me out with getting it back to it's former glory as most folk seem to be breaking them nowadays, will be getting the repair panels next week then the blacksmith can get in about it all, obviously i will be helping as much as i can coz i've been trying to do as much of the work myself but some things are better left to the professionals who will probably do a much better job than i could, at least I'll get taught a few things along the way 👍

Thanks lads 👍👍, i had a quick go at the strut tops and inner wings with my wee tappy hammer and it seems to be pretty solid also the inner sills are looking good aswell so hopefully not to much hidden rot although i am prepared for anything that turns up, I'm sure the blacksmith will be able to sort it all out as he is fecking good at what he does and is in his element bringing stuff back to life 😃😃 he is always doing the bodywork on all the old vans we have at work and loves it, he even has the tool to crimp the sills so they look oem, really looking forward to helping along the way and keeping this classic on the road 👍

The time has finally come to get the bodywork sorted, the usual rear arches and sills are both fubarred and to be honest the paintwork is not that great either so i'm going the whole hog and getting it all done over the dark winter months. will be getting the repair panels at the end of the month and one of the nice blacksmiths at work is going to do all the welding for me. I have been in about the inner wings and strut towers and it's just along the edges of the inner wings that are corroded and the towers are all ok 😁. I have also spoke nicely to the bodyshop just down the road that do loads of classic cars and they are quite happy for me to prep it and strip it all down to keep the costs down and take it to them on a trailer so happy days 👍. I will keep this thread updated as i go along

I would say that its the gear selector mechanism when its in the car the linkage from the gearstick will attach to it 👍

Can you not claim through your insurance, i think its £75 excess but it not affect no claims where as buying a new one would easy be a couple of hundred quid and i'm sure they bonded in so would have to get someone to fit it

Welcome, i would go for the sti between 03 and 05 the blobeye mate,the sti has a stronger engine and 6spd box and dccd i think and better suspension , 06 onwards have the 2.5 engine which are more prone to ringland failure so you would have to have a oh s**t fund on the go for a rebuild however if it has been forged then its a very good engine, they pretty easy to tune and modify and quite a few places for mapping just depends on how deep your pockets are how far you want to go also dead easy to get parts for, alot of us use importcarparts and they are very reasonable for oem parts 👍👍

Yeah scoobs really dont like being stood around for ages it's not good, you should change the oil and filter at least once a year as oil degrades over time and becomes less effective

Today was epic mate real shame you couldn't make it the racing was quality and most of the incidents happen near or next to us at the chicane, was thinking of going up to the smrc on 6th october, would be a good reason to meet up again and hopefully @CboatsTerzo327 will be able to come aswell and anyone else is more than welcome 👍👍
