  1. Welcome to the club buddy ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  2. I'm down in the borders bud, there are a couple off meets up the central belt way i think one of the best ones is tartan tarmac i've never been to one yet but my mate from stenhousemuir goes to some and says its really good, i would be up for a meet seeing as there seems to be a few folk from around your area joining the club, gfb are ment to be pretty good so could be worth a shot coz as like @Kdyjas says hks are quite expensive ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  3. Firstly welcome to the club ๐Ÿ‘, for the likes of oem parts most use importcarparts.co.uk the boy Luke there knows his stuff and the parts are reasonably priced, i used scoobyworks i think it was to get my fuel pump and their service was great but you can also get things like that from ebay aswell not so sure about a turbo although a few folk on here use scoobyclinic as their turbos seem to get a good rep, oh and thats a tidy looking motor you have there ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

  6. Happy days mate really good to hear you're back on the road ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  7. Welcome to the club ๐Ÿ‘, tidy looking motor you have there
  8. Good news everything is back to normal no overboost and the needle on boost gauge stays perfectly still where as it was bouncing about before
  9. Seems to have done the trick mate, finished it off last night and got it out today although i never really got to boost it much as was in traffic most of the way, going out soon so will see how things go ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  10. Aye i'm sure the last shell station is in fort William haha but would fill up some jerrycans down this way as it's probs double the price up there, does look quality though a couple of boys at work have been there and say its amazing the roads and the views, theres 2 roads the mountain road or the wimp road lol which goes round it ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  11. I would be up for a wee meet somewhere my best mate lives in stenhousemuir he has a blob sti and we sometimes go a wee run out by the coast and stop for a chippy, we've been thinking about doing the applecross run this year, it looks proper good blasting through the tunnels on the mountain road ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
  12. Been having a little boost spike problem since repairing the turbo so took it off and found the wastegate hole to be 10mm smaller than on the original one so must be a copy exhaust housing i bought, the original wastegate hole is 25mm and the new one 15mm So i got my die grinder out and done a bit of self porting to make the hole the same size as the old one so as to give the exhaust gas a bigger surface area to push on the penny which in theory should open easier thus eliminating the boost spike ( hopefully ) , got the turbo back on after work today but not finished yet as have to fit a caliper to the wife's car ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคจ, will update tomorrow when i finish the job and have a wee blast along the road ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  13. Oooo shiney bits, nice me like ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  14. Nah not the wagon matey just the saloon, I'll keep an eye out for you aswell, normally take the coast road from rosyth along to kincardine as i hate that M9 it has to be one of the most boring roads in scotland and the coast road a bit more fun in the scoob ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  15. Nice blob sti you have ๐Ÿ‘, i'm down in the borders near galashiels, ma mums in kincardine so up your way every few weeks ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  16. Good luck with this matey sounds very interesting, i will try to follow your progress maybe start a project thread to document how its going, again all the best hope it works out ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  17. A wee update, today at work i rigged up a regulator in the airline from the compressor and set it to 10psi, then got my blow gun and worked the actuator through the vacuum port at this pressure not much happened so set it to 14psi or 1bar and the rod started to move slightly but not enough to open the wastegate so decided to up the pressue to 1.2bar or around 17psi as this is what it was mapped to and hey presto the rod came fully out, then fitted wastegate to the turbo and set the spring rate by first of all adjusting the rod out until it fits over the wastegate pin then taking it back off the pin and winding it in 3 turns then pulling the rod out to fit on to wastegate, the car now feels better however i must be getting a spike in boost pressure as it fuel cuts but only for literally a split second so i think i may be going for another trip to the mapper ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  18. Yeah i've been driving kinda gingerly today as to not cause any damage i even sat behind a old lady in her micra and the missus is like whats up with you haha ๐Ÿ˜‚, I'll maybe fit the adjustable actuator that came with the turbo and use the boost gauge to set it to the correct pressure and see how i get on and if that doesn't help I'll go back to see the mapper, thanks for the help matey ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  19. Cool I'll have a check of the rod tomorrow after work, i still have the actuator that came with the 2nd hand turbo and it has an adjustment on the rod so could use that, i never checked if the penny size was the same or not i just assumed it would be as the used turbo i got came off another v1 and it was a genuine top entry, i've seen some youtube vids of having to get the penny hole ported as the hole is so much smaller than the penny it ends up boost spiking before it can open it
  20. As some of you will know i repaired the cracked exhaust housing on my turbo yesterday, since then the car has started to overboost slightly, now i kept the original actuator on which was used when the car was mapped, can i adjust the preload on this as it has a fixed shaft with no thread or lock nut, please see pic about what i mean also the pin on the wastegate where the actuator arm fits was larger than the one i took off so had to drill the hole bigger on arm to make fit, any advice is much appreciated ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  21. Looking fantastic as always buddy ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  22. Repaired my td05 turbo this afternoon, now sounds like a scoob should not like a tractor ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  23. Fixed my broken turbo today as it had a crack in the exhaust housing. Started off by splitting the 2nd hand one i got from the bay at a reasonable price as there was too much play in the shaft, then got busy under the bonnet disconnecting the up-pipe and down pipe luckily the bolt for the clamp which hold the two halves of the turbo together was at the top so took that off next and managed to get the housing out with leaving the turbo in place, as i lifted the housing clear a large part of the flange ( haha flange ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ ) fell off then wrestled the new housing in whilst filling the swear jar, please note though the only reason a could do it in place was because all the studs came out rather than just the nuts, anyway refitted the clamp and exhaust pipes fired her up and not sounding like a tractor, happy days ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘, i took pics but for sone reason it won't let me post them ๐Ÿคจ
  24. Stuck the battery back on and awoke it from it's slumber ( first time out this year ) and gave it 30 squid worth of nice v power, taking it to work tomorrow to repair cracked turbo housing ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  25. Welcome to the club buddy, nice motor hope you enjoy it once you get it out the workshop ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
