Oooo that bottle, was thinking about the box :)
I drive a NA, when I floor the poor thing I get a slight whistle noise that is coming from that little drainage hole, so in my mind I pretend that I had done well in life and make myself believe the whistle is from a turbo (or two) :)

Saw a program speed with guy Martin, they were racing a van, had some sort of problems with either speed or cooling or aerodynamics but they found out having mesh created quite a bit of restriction at speed

Wear long sleeves if you think you are going to touch / cut that heat wrap, the strands get soooo itchy!
You might find the noise is louder if you listen from underneath at an angle where the plastic under guard isn't in the way. Sometimes I find just putting your hand in line of sight is enough to change the noise without getting close to it, it'll sound like it's coming from another room.
Could maybe try holding something like a straw to avoid burns, feel for vibrations but never tried it.
This picture is for the start of your journey :D

Listening to it on my phone it reminds me of the top gear special where they went to go see the baby jeeeesus and the spark plug kept coming out

If it sounds like air escaping, you should be able to move your hand around the sides and listen for a change in noise to point you in the right direction. Sitting next to a compressor at work at the moment, couldn't really hear the vid that well :(

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's to help silence it a bit and hold a reservoir of air available for sudden acceleration

Looks great with the number plate to match :) seems common to move from BMW to Subaru! Haven't had a turbo one yet but own an NA legacy and friend has an NA Impreza but both idle below 1000rpm

Same (east anglia) I used mine to do deliveries before and only got stuck behind other people and once going up a steepish driveway that levelled off quickly and so beached the car. After digging out the snow from where the middle of the car was sitting on was able to drive away

I run my n/a legacy on vpower, got a shell drivers card so get a bit more points anyway so 'some' money back.
Had problems using fuel that comes with added ethanol (p0420) so just stick to vpower. If you end up using regular and keep buying fuel cleaners it'll probably work out the same anyway

There might be a video on YouTube to make it easier to follow, but just like how you have engine codes, this will display transmission codes. It might only work pre 2004, had to go to work so didn't really look into it that much, but worth a try :)

Mine never drops down from 5th! But then again my 2001 only has 4 gears :( always good to check for codes when you get a new car, I have found codes on older subarus and someone's Ford Focus which kept cutting out (3 codes even when the dash said no codes stored and MiL is off).
I forgot what year it is for but did see a transmission checking thing where you play around with the key position and change position of the shifter that would test the transmission but never tried it so don't know if it works

If anyone's does get contaminated, on a Nissan we had an over fuelling problem.. Cleaned maf with intake cleaner, still had a prob so checked other things like plugs but thought it was the maf so got electrical cleaner... Still got a problem so checked other things. Then (after a long time later) tried Wynns EGR cleaner then sorted! It could have been something else other than the maf (maybe EGR?) but next time will try that spray first in case the maf was the problem!

I think they could do if you mess around with the air flow sensor, if it was closer or further to the throttle body than before.
Also when cleaning the k&n they give you this oil spray to help dirt stick, that could possibly contaminate sensor wires if used too much.

The bambi thing, does it feel like could be something with the abs? Or maybe bits of bambi still underneath from a previous accident? :)

^^try the pressure cap, some have a pressure reading on there. Keeps the system up to that pressure and if it goes over, it goes to the overflow. Under pressure and draws it back

The sofa didn't fit in the back, that was our clever lazy way of breaking it. It didn't break, we started to think it was made of rock :O I think we ended up breaking some of it by hand and letting a lot of it hang out the back with rope (in the countryside only a mile or so from recycling Center)

You can try
http://www.imprezabreakers.co.uk
Give them a call, if they have one then they are in the outskirts of Norwich, or they could probably sort out posting, I know they post smaller items so worth a try
