  1. Don't take my word for it as i'm no expert but im sure others have had this problem. If you post in the gearbox/ drivetrain section somone with more knowledge will answer
  2. I think you'd have to change the shafts to accomodate the different diff. So if you are reverting to standard i presume you need to change the driveshafts back. There are a load being broken on ebay so you should be able to pick a pair up fairly cheap. I'd sell the sti diff and shafts to recover some costs
  3. That is a good way of looking at it and like you say what comes around goes around, anyway keep us posted with the rebuild see if they will get some pics while they are at it as it would be interesting to see.
  4. Don't hold me to this but i assume there will be an electrical connector on the reverse selector ? Have you had the gear surround off to have a peek ? It should just lift off with a gentle tug ( cant remember if there are two screws on either side if the transmission tunnel.
  5. :-( sorry to hear the bad news, have you mailed the seller ? I know it's not an excuse but we're not all bad and i understand why your vexed, Sound like you have a good mate who will buold you a superb engine all i can say is keep the faith and hopefully good news and things will come
  6. yep gambits right mines the same underpinnings as the classic impreza so 90% of bits fit. The strut just dropped in place. It looks like yours should accept newage bits i also double checked against the whiteline catalogue as they have foz struts listed and the part numbers are the same as the impreza ones. There seems to be newage 01-03 then 04-06 listed. I don't know what the difference would be though and there are two types listed too, are the intercoolers deeper on the different years ? Scooby world were a great help they cross referenced them while i was on the phone and i saved myself 60bits by buying one of there own brand instead of the whiteline ones :-)
  7. Thats why i was interested in seeing the larger wheels with the smaller profile some of them look odd but i think the black on black suits it well. Mmm clean stroked engine :-) much want
  8. may be worth giving these a try ww.gradea-subaru.co.uk or 01663744114
  9. They look good. Didn't know if the lower profile would look out of place.
  10. Haha a little closer to home, amsterdam :-D It wasn't to bad as i knew some people over there so had something to do. The rest of the lads flew out the following month
  11. Haha it wouldn't be the 1st time ! Booking flights once refreshed browser didn't realise it had reverted to the current months calender and booked flights in wrong month :O ended up going on me own
  12. Haha my bad thought it was monday today. Still makes life a little easier
  13. I was aiming to get to next weeks but i'll be pushing it for seven, prob closer to 8 by the time i've finshed doing what i need to do
  14. Hi mate thats mine lol, just using it as a pointer as to the two connections and as to what the looked like. It's the only two on the car i can see that match his :-)
  15. http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/product/Roof_Spoiler_E721ESA000 New ones here mate too
  16. Try import carparts 76quid will buy a brand new one, they are notorious for going rusty so if yiu can stretch i'd buy new at least you won't have any problems Or have a peek through the many pages from this seller http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Grade-A-Subaru
  17. Need a legacy owner to id part my pas pump fluid sits up above that on mine. Can't work out what it connects to only connector i have that i can see is for cat overheat sensor ? Is his a n/a car ?
  18. I wanted to make sure as his wheel is on other side :-)
  19. Cant help you there i'm afraid. Can you post a bigger pic of the engine bay. What side is that on ?
  20. Thats not very exciting :-( much better if it did something like eject people or shoot flames. Odd if it is an alarm switch for it to be a rocker and not a spring loaded switch. Looks like your gonna have to press it and see :-) I'd still go with some after market power adapter. Have you tried to chase the connection back ?
  21. Subaru decided it would be a good idea to have an odb style port but use completly different software. All jap cars pre odb2 used something i can't remember the name of, you can get a scanner but they cost over a ton. As gambit says theres should be 4 diagnostic plugs a little further back from the port you were playing with. I'd paste the guide link in but i'm on my phone :-( Maybe a flat ish battery, i'd either hook it up to a charger for a couple hours or go for a nice long run with your side lights on see if that cures it. Cheapest options first. As for idle at start up it should idle high then drop to 750ish takes a couple of mins. If charging the battery hasn't cured it you could try the un plug maf sensor test. Not exactly a very scientific test but if you un plug it whilst the car is running it should stall. If not it's a bit dodgy and needs replacment.
  22. What time is it ? Theres a chance i could make it for an hour depending.
  23. Balls not enough notice, i thought it was a saturday :-(
  24. Press it, press it ! It's a new one on me, do you have anything aftermarket in the glovebox ? Or any interior lights that have been added ? Is it a rocker type swiitch or a push on push off type ? Do you have the 12v aux socket in the boot ? Maybe its to make that perm live or for some incar entertainment
