PXed my old 2001 Classic Wagon Sport NA for a newer 2006 Hawkeye Sport NA, much happier a turbo will have to wait another year or so, just can't justify it just yet

Paid for gearbox repairs. 2/3/4 synchro were showing signs of age. Few other age related worn parts replaced to. Should have the car back tonight. Fitter said overall gearbox is in good health for its age and it's had an easy life.

I know the Norwich numbers have dwindled but I didn't think it was that bad lol . We get 10 to 15 cars at the ipswich meet (27 at duxford a couple of weeks ago )

They haven't put a thread up for the bury St Edmunds show yet but soon as they do I'll chuck a link in the regional section .

I think you've just missed the scooby city norwich meet (3rd of may at burger king I think)

I've never been to the Norwich meets but think there's normally 5 to 10 cars that normally turn up . Show stands we normally manage 20 scoobs a mustang and a supra twin turbo [emoji41]

Well, today is the day that Autoglass were coming to repair my windscreen between 8am and 1pm. And guess what, they phoned me at 7:45 to advise me that the windscreen they had was faulty and the trim they had ordered hadn't arrived and had had to order it from Subaru. Yet despite this they only decided to tell me 15mins before, surely they knew yesterday that they didn't have the parts. Well I'll be invoicing them for my wasted day off!!

All this after 4 months of wrangling trying to get them to fit my wife's windscreen.

I need a new windscreen too, as I've got an old chip that has been filled in before. Autoglass said i needed a whole new windscreen as they couldnt fill in a chip that has already been filled.

I've got some rust coming around the windscreen now, so going to get that sorted and a new windscreen at the same time. Going to try national windscreens this time.

There is a bugeye STI near me, heard it twice today and it now sounds VERY tappity...pulled out of my street and he gave it some beans, the tapping was really loud... made me whince

As what I've done today.

I've washed her using 2 bucket method, clay clothed her down all over, used Meguiares Polish, one coat of Meguiares canuba wax, final cost of Meguiares ultimate wax, finished up with Meguiares plastic trim treatment and tyre black. Touched up a couple of stone chips on the bumper to, looks like new now.

Took it out for a spin around some back roads, encountered far too many cyclists and people driving 20mph below the speed limit for my liking but had a few cheeky overtakes. Forgot how brutal my car feels when I don't drive it daily

Took car to ats for a slow puncture repair, turns out there's a mini split in the bead :-(

Pair of toyos on order from black circles again (will have matching tyres all round, yay!) to be fitted at ats for the same price as one tyre.....from ats. How does that work?!

Bit delayed due to drama but picked my car up last night after having the gearbox recon. It needed a few more bits than just seals. 3 new bearings and 2 new synchro as advised by the builder. I did get the old bits so I know it must have new inside. Planned to collect it Wednesday but noticed a puddle under it and I was out of working hours. Turns out the drain plug was loose or the seal wasn't great. Either way had a pop at the mechanic and gearbox specialist. Drove home yesterday and first impression...I hate it. The new clutch and new parts make for a very clunky and aggressive gear change. That should gradually become more subtle as it all beds in...I hope. As you can imagine that original quote of £220 soon turned in to £510 for all work plus he didn't mention the original quote was minus VAT. tl;dr had gearbox rebuilt, not happy but it is all fixed.

Gone 'glamping' nice change from hauling a tent around, shame the pub is a 40min walk away and the weather is !Removed!

I've ordered the stuff now to dechrome my XV and move to black.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a supplier of overlays or replacement badges as I'm looking for black and white ones to suit rest of car. I'll post up results when I get the nerve to do it [emoji12]

Found a chap in Stoke who does gel stick on ones that go over the old. Only £12 for both front and back made to your specified sizes and colours inc 1st class postage, for that I'll have a punt.

Subarubitz is another supplier but he's asking nearly £40 for the two.

If these turn out ok then i can totally de-chrome my car including the badges when my spray dip arrives.

To be honest I'm still staggered the wife approved it, I think she just thought "child" [emoji23]

Yeah, that's the fella, I'm getting the same ones as yours actually with a white background and black stars. I've always thought the chrome on my XV looked out of place and after seeing what Dug did with his on the XV threads

I decided to dechrome miners just black and white, just waiting for all the bits now of which these were the last bit 

Those do look good to be fair, feeling more relaxed now about the £12 I've just spent had a concern they might be crap.
