How much is a good WRX up to 2006 worth and is it worth getting an sti of that year
My garage have mapped their fair share of Scoobys that's for sure! Everytime I go in there are at least 2 or 3 scoobies getting serviced or worked on

Yeh the guys I use charge £100 an hour... so if all goes well and not many issues then it's not overly expensive. Highly reputable local garage to me... guy only does dyno mapping. Garage have always been good to me as well... can't fault them. Edit: Altho, unfortunately they no longer have the dyno... mapper and dyno have moved on! Will be Andy F for me when I eventually go for more power :D

Mine cost me £230... did get a 20% discount as I filled in a cancellation at the last min :D

Knackered wheel bearing
It does sound like it's coming from the back but was unsure as it's obviously difficult to pin point from inside the car... Must be a coincidence then!

Knackered wheel bearing
So I've had bearing whine for a while, had the garage check it out back in September but they couldn't narrow it down as there was no play in any of the wheels. Now it is significantly worse so once I'm back from my holiday I'm gonna get it fixed. It started not long after my n/s front caliper siezed on so I assumed it would be that bearing. Noticed today that the noise goes away when i'm turning right, but remains when turning left. I would think that a bearing would stop being noisy when the load is reduced? It's entirely possible that it is another bearing and it was completely coincidental...

New scooby guy
Have to admit, that is my favourite shape of scooby.. good choice!

Any other SVXs here?
That's good then, probably the easiest thing to do would be to source a 2nd hand box and swap it out
-
Upgrading
Pretty sure they can... I have my old WRX scoop sitting in my garage since I swapped mine over to an STI scoop. So it's bigger than the older bug scoops but not quite as obnoxious as the STi scoops :D

Collecting De Cats ready for the Remap.... but
One hanger is for the back box... unsure about the centre pipe

Gearbox Repair needed Herts/N London
Are you able to jack up the car and see if you can find a gearbox code? Should be on the bell housing somewhere... Edit: Looks like it should be on your info plate in the engine bay?

Car playin up
Absolutely! Redex is pretty good stuff... glad it's sorted :D

Collecting De Cats ready for the Remap.... but
If you buy a full system for a classic (Turbo back) then yes it will fit on your car... but if you try and mix and match parts, it won't... they have different lengths downpipes and centre pipes... altho the total lengthof all the parts is pretty much the same. And yeh, that decat cat-pipe i sold you is standard 2.5"... therefore a straight swap

Ah the H6 lump... yeh heard it's a really good engine. Was it a private sale? If it wasn't, I would be speaking to whoever sold you it... Since it's not a unique engine, it could be possible that gearboxes from other models would be a straight swap

Car playin up
I take it no warning lights? Maybe some gunk in the fuel... sounds very similar to what happened to my brother, was water in the fuel... maybe fill up your tank and fire some redex through and see if that helps? Certainly is the cheapest thing to try :D

Buying Subaru Parts
2nd ICP... I use their ebay shop for lots of genuine bits and bobs and they are considerably cheaper than Subaru. Other option is to speak to breakers...

Classic gearbox
Probably why a lot of newer cars gear changes are so effortless... makes you wonder what the gearstick is even connected to! At least with the scoob it all feels very solid, mechanical and therefore MANLY

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Replaced the battery in my keyfob... I can now unlock my car from more than 1 foot away from it XD

Classic gearbox
Found this: "Basically each type of synchronizer says the number of frictional faces used for synchronization. In case of single cone only one friction face is available for entire shift cycle. But in case of double and triple multiple friction surfaces are working together hence the effort to shift gear will gradually reduce." https://www.quora.com/Why-does-1st-and-2nd-gear-need-double-synchro-cone

Classic gearbox
Seem to be identical when I found this chart, apart from your new one has the below... whatever that is... Double-cone 2nd synchro added (all turbo Impreza), http://www.gearhack.com/myink/ViewPage.php?file=docs/Subaru Transmission Chart

Oh wow! Didn't even know that was a thing! Were they made to compete with the 3000GT or the 300zx? What engine is in it?
