  1. Even the central locking worked as I walked away through the snow, to the amusement of passers-by :-) - very funny, yes I would have laughed also, partly because seeing you walk away after the accident but that is a Bruce Willis type comedy moment. If you decide to get your lad twirling the spanners point him in our direction and we could have a nice project thread on the go.
  2. Wotcha and welcome my 2p If you have the expertise, want something mint and you know all the running gear etc was in good nick go for a project and transplant, if you dont mind it being a bit rough knock out the dents and get a new windscreen. Farmerpug on here has made a really nice job of a forrester from something that was a little tired initially
  3. Yes an air lock would stop the fluid going around the system which would lead to the coolant in the rad overheating long shot - you said it was over heating but still boiling over, could it a defective rad cap, do you have another one you could try?
  4. Welcome - Just expand on the existing thread with more detail, there is no required post count threshold before you can sell on this forum
  5. After watching the walk around vid I found some more links etc on the web. Subaru have not given any details about what is under the skin of this machine but given what Prodrive and Cosworth have achieved in the past I'm sure there will be room for a little tweaking. My only initial reservation, which I could probably get over - is it too much like a BMW 3 series from the side??
  6. no membership fee needed here just an affiliation for all things six starred
  7. Stand to be corrected but I believe your car may already have a recirc valve as standard. here is a Blitz unit sound and link - on an STI but you get the impression http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-2805.aspx here is a Bailey version fitted to your car you have Bailey Blitz HKS & Forge at this link - but these are predominantly sold for imprezas now as your lump - I believe - is an EJ20 with twin turbo setup that shouldn't be an issue but I would check. http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=47_61 As you are running 300+ BHP go for a piston type valve as a diaphragm type wont take the boost you are probably running
  8. @ I love scoobs anybody know a good garage within nottinghamshire area shirefor my scoobs?
  9. separate thread created as this could useful for other owners
  10. Think the sugar soap might be a bit much for the plastic, white spirit should work though
  11. If you want the odd flame out of the exhaust go for a standard dump valve - if not go for a recirc type dump valve - forge do some nice ones of both
  12. work and play what a great setup!! That GT B looks a proper sleeper I bet you have surprised a few on the roads with that

  17. clear, succinct and chock full of info - great breakdown
  18. Wotcha and welcome - great looking car, like the body kit very subtle but gives the car a nice low stance
  19. Absolutely - we have already had the joy and sorrow of short term subaru ownership on the forum, it was painful for all
  20. Excellent - glad you caught it before something warped Good that your mechanic will be flushing also to ensure no airlocks which can also stop the flow
  21. Wotcha and welcome All friendly on here so feel free to ask questions, post photos and join in with the banter. We have a a few members with classic shape models so plenty of input should any be needed
  22. keep us posted as it will be useful to know the cause
  23. It could be the thermostat in the coolant loop is defective so the coolant is not flowing around the engine, heat is being transferred through the block to the radiator and the liquid is then boiling forcing the cap to release the pressure. What I would advise is taking it very easy with the car until this is resolved as you could end up damaging the engine This is what one looks like - don't cost a huge amount of money but if they don't work your coolant doesn't flow http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermostat-for-Subaru-Impreza-92-11-/380608029856?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ASubaru|Model%3AImpreza&hash=item589e01a4a0
  24. Wotcha and welcome
