  1. yes that is true K&N Cosworth etc high flow panels will give you an increase over standard and will flow the same as a cone - An advantage a cone will give you over a panel is with the associated induction tubing - if it is larger that means more air can flow.
  2. ..it is as well, got to sort the which to do first - the I want in me wants it now but that is not going to happen just yet but it will all come with time. That detailing is awesome - its like a new car!!
  3. Good luck with the sale Simon
  4. I thought they were standard on the Sti Type UK? Must admit I wish I had a silver car. Getting fed up having to wash mine every time it rains as it just looks awful with all the crap left behind, shows up really badly on the black. I understand they were an option on top of the Prodrive Type Uk bits - don't be too put out the silver is just as bad when it rains - Im out there with the hose regularly at the moment - all this rain has stopped me doing the engine bay seeing as there are a few cars on here that have set the standard, however Im interested to see what the professional from Scunthorpe is going to turn out, I think he will be raising the bar here for clean cars
  5. Yep - seeing yours I have got to get some lower lights sorted the plain panels I have just don't finish the car off
  6. As said above definitely sounds like it is earthing out
  7. Wotcha and welcome - It depends what other mods you have completed as to if changing the ecu mapping will give any gains - it is usually done in conjunction with exhaust and induction mods so if you have a high flow filter and a performance exhaust you would see gains as it can deal with the increased fuel delivery in line with teh increased flow through the engine. You may be able to have the existing ecu remapped. but what I would say is if your injectors are not clean trying to force more fuel through them will not work. What is the spec of your car at the moment?
  8. According to Subaru UK it is 80Kg
  9. Welcome to the forum - the result will put you in a good negotiating position if you really want the car then as you are fixing the cylinder you could do some other upgrades - baffle sump uprated oil pump etc and also address why it failed in the first place then you have peace of mind in a sorted engine
  10. Wotcha and welcome - all friendly on this forum ;) there are also a number of forrester owners who may be able to shed some light on the centre section you have
  11. I know - now you see why I was thinking about proper catches when I was on a closed private road doing similar speeds it wasnt quite as bad but there was some serious movement going on up front :o
  12. There isn't any post restriction you should be able to upload it top the site - particularly as we actively encourage this as it will stop gaps in the site if things are deleted from remotely hosted places like You Tube edit - however have just tried mp4 to the media library myself and it was blocked - will have a rummage behind the scenes
  13. Top result chaps and quite a subtle car, I think the bonnet is made of paper though :P Article and stills http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=27697 The lap Close up of car and sound on track - yummy
  14. I used clear plastic covers as headlight protection on my van and bike but wouldn't go the tinted route -- over the years I have had enough attention from the police without having a mod like that, also I like as much light coming out the front as possible. Id just go with the split and respray the internals as shown in another thread.
  15. any excuse to terrorise the tarmac eh :D
  16. The TD04 is a standard size turbo for subarus but before you buy be aware that the a TD04 from a Forrester has different internals to a TD04 from an Impreza. So the turbo itself will be fine as long as you address everything else that goes with a turbo installation - intercooler, fuelling, air flow into the system boost control exhaust etc
  17. Great to hear things are progressing as Gambit said looking forward to the pictures
  18. it does, it saps your power and uses more gas - so all id do is give it a swill once a week if it hasnt been used to demist the windscreen or chill the car, although on holiday in the states with a cabriolet hire car it was nice blowing on you with the roof down :)
  19. obviously it is better to be there with you but it wasnt knocking as much as I thought it would be, more blowing, are all your pipes connected - you havent got a split somewhere have you - is there blue or white smoke coming out of the exhaust?
  20. Wotcha and welcome - not done any transplants myself but I know some have on the forum so hopefully they will be along to advise
  21. Hi - I have zoomed in on the photo and I cant see one fitted just tubing - is there any chance you could take some close up shots of where the diagram shows the DV location to be?
