  1. Test complete - yes it does change it into a more responsive drive all round as you don't feel the car is fighting with itself. Also on mine the VDC stayed off when the ignition was cycled, I have just had to provide reassurance that there is indeed some tread left on the tyres and all the settings are restored :P
  2. going to try it - back in a bit.... :) also mine drops from S# to Sport when the ignition is cycled
  3. Really useful that - I have yet to mess with VDC still playing with the torque and SI dial - I do find the drive ability in Intelligent mode not to be a smooth as in sport mode particularly around urban areas which is contrary to what they say, I might need some investigating - possibly getting the injectors cleaned
  4. Wotcha and welcome - unfortunately it may be worth holding on until the market lifts a bit - but there is certainly no harm in asking the question, add some pics, as there is no post count requirement with this forum and see if a response is generated :)
  5. Wotcha and welcome - well being a member of an owners club does help and the forum does give you some discount so it may be worth following the sponsor links and seeing what they have to say. The forum has a Surrey contingent that meet up on regular occasions so you could touch base with fellow owners, feel free to get some photo's posted and also give your girlfriends father a shove in our direction as he is clearly also a fellow of discerning taste - although I would be interested to hear if that has influenced his daughter in anyway??
  6. Its in the diary chum ;)
  7. could be a joint that kit you have on is quite sturdy - but failing that hopefully its just a weld - got a story about getting three points in Glasgow of the two, one dibble was in hysterics and the other (the driver) was seriously not amused - but ill save it for around the bbq fire
  8. Hey everyone is an individual right??? :)
  9. Wotcha and welcome Alan, you have quite the collection there - would be great to see some pics and feel free to post in the sales section it may help find your car a new home
  10. On behalf of Alan - every new member deserves there own thread Evening, We have had Foresters for years 5 to be precise. Wifelet has just got a Legacy Estate 2.5 Auto & she loves it. I have got the chance of a 2005 Outback 2.5 Auto and, i am going to buy it! It has a brand new engine rebuild. I will be selling my Forester pride & joy an FSTI from Japan!. So hello to you all. ATVB. Alan MaC
  11. yes that is true K&N Cosworth etc high flow panels will give you an increase over standard and will flow the same as a cone - An advantage a cone will give you over a panel is with the associated induction tubing - if it is larger that means more air can flow.
  12. ..it is as well, got to sort the which to do first - the I want in me wants it now but that is not going to happen just yet but it will all come with time. That detailing is awesome - its like a new car!!
  13. Good luck with the sale Simon
  14. I thought they were standard on the Sti Type UK? Must admit I wish I had a silver car. Getting fed up having to wash mine every time it rains as it just looks awful with all the crap left behind, shows up really badly on the black. I understand they were an option on top of the Prodrive Type Uk bits - don't be too put out the silver is just as bad when it rains - Im out there with the hose regularly at the moment - all this rain has stopped me doing the engine bay seeing as there are a few cars on here that have set the standard, however Im interested to see what the professional from Scunthorpe is going to turn out, I think he will be raising the bar here for clean cars
  15. Yep - seeing yours I have got to get some lower lights sorted the plain panels I have just don't finish the car off
  16. As said above definitely sounds like it is earthing out
  17. Wotcha and welcome - It depends what other mods you have completed as to if changing the ecu mapping will give any gains - it is usually done in conjunction with exhaust and induction mods so if you have a high flow filter and a performance exhaust you would see gains as it can deal with the increased fuel delivery in line with teh increased flow through the engine. You may be able to have the existing ecu remapped. but what I would say is if your injectors are not clean trying to force more fuel through them will not work. What is the spec of your car at the moment?
  18. According to Subaru UK it is 80Kg
  19. Welcome to the forum - the result will put you in a good negotiating position if you really want the car then as you are fixing the cylinder you could do some other upgrades - baffle sump uprated oil pump etc and also address why it failed in the first place then you have peace of mind in a sorted engine
